Hi,

My name is Erin Curran. Recently, my website was accidentally and permanently deleted by my website company. All of my images and data are gone. So, I am taking this unfortunate mishap and turning it into a positive - A fresh new start. Anyway, my new site is up. It it isn't the way I want to be yet, but the ball is rolling. I am hoping that you talented designers can help me with my logo/identity so my new site looks polished and established.
http://www.ecurranphoto.com/ (http://www.ecurranphoto.com/)

Thank You!
Erin

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Erin Curran Photography (perhaps all small letters?)

What type of product or service do you offer?
Wedding and lifestyle photography

How long have you been in business?
10+ years

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity
A logo that flows with my new website. I would also like part of the logo to be a symbol or icon that might be recognized or associated with my business without seeing my business name.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
June 11, 2008

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience:
I typcally market myself to young, upscale couples and families

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Young, femine, edgey, not clunky
(sorry! I am not down with designer jargon)

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
I am looking for something that flows with my website. One of the accent colors should be dark grey
7a7a75 grey

Right now my website is the original color that the template came with. I got attatched to the green but may change it in the future. It is important that I can switch up the colors in my logo.
9aac32 green

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
A couple of ideas I have had for my logo are a celtic knot or an artsy design of a heart - I don't want to limit myself to just these ideas though. (just a thought) Please use your creativity.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Upscale and Creative ~Slightly funky (-:

Where will your new logo be used?
Including but not limited to - website, printed materials and business cards- Here are some requirements I copied from my website template.

<TABLE><TBODY><TR><TD>maximum recommended file size: 100 kb.
maximum recommended pixel height: 80 px.
</TD></TR><TR><TD>recommended image type: jpg (png images will not display properly on html version in internet explorer)
suggested background color: f6f6f6
</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Hi Erin and thank you for posting a contest here at Design Outpost. In the design below, I chose to work with your idea of a Celtic knot. I wanted to keep it dead simple though, so after some research, I drew up this very simple knot and used it to link your first and last name together. Please let me know if you like the design direction. I'll be glad to make any changes you'd like to see.

Thank you,

Dave:cool:

Hello!

I want to thank everyone for the submissions. Below is some feedback. I am leaving for the day to shoot a wedding. I will check back tonight.

Thanks Again!
Erin

Kekepania-
I love your portfolio! That being said, I like version one, however, it's a little too simple. Can you play around and sass it up a little?

Quetizo-
This is so cool but not very femine. I like how the initials are the same shape and the C looks like a camera. Can you try this concept with an edgy, less masculine font.

Kogar -
This is very nice but, steering away from my vision.

Dave-
I love where you are going with this! Can you give it a little more oomph. Also, could I see some edgier fonts?

Hi Erin,

Thank you for the positive feedback. In this revision, I've added some funky perspective to the Celtic knot and I've revised the font with an "edgier" one. I know you don't want to go too crazy on the font, so I'm trying to keep it simple, but modern too. Let me know if this is working for you or if you'd like me to try anything else.

Thank you again,

Dave:cool:

Hi Dave,
I love the change! My only concern is, the font might look a little too Irish Pubby. Can I see it in a couple of different fonts? Also, Can you add "photography" in there. (perhaps in grey like the buttons on my website)

PS Curran ends in "an" (-:

Hi Erin,

Thank you once again for the positive feedback. And my apologies for the name misspelling. Please take a look at the next 3 entries and let me know if any of the fonts work well for you. Here's the first.

Thank you,

Hi Dave,

Thanks again! Of the three most recent, I like the font in version 5. Can you add the word photography with a less structured font? Something that looks handwritten ?

And then could you reverse it with a hand written erin curran with a more structured font for photography.

Thank You,
Erin

PS please try the "photography" in grey

This is a simple and clean icon that represents both of your initials:)

Hi Taldo,
This is very nice! Can I see it with word photography in a handwritten type of a font?

Hi Taldo,
I like this a lot. Can you try it with a less structured handwritten font. (on the word photography)

Also, could you provide me with a couple versions using a variety of different fonts.
Thank you!

I want to thank all of the designers for their submissions. I am blown away by the talent here! This was such a hard decision because I loved so many.

I have chosen to work with Carol Taldo. (version 3) With a minor tweak.

Best Regards,
Erin

Will I have the ability to change composition? i.e.compose the "e" alone or on top instead of beside, if need be?

Yes, if you have Illustrator or Photoshop, you can move things around.

Hi Carol,

I am 99% positive that (a) in version 3 is the one for me. I love it. I would just like to play with the font one last time.

1. Could I see one more handwritten font?
2. Can you reverse the fonts (as seen in (a) version 3) and use the handwritten one on my name

Lastly, would you provide me with a verticle version as well with the "e" symbol on the top?

Thanks!
Erin

Hi Carol!

I am going with Version 3 (a). It is perfect for me.

Would you please send me a variety of file formats? (I plan to use logo for website, printed materials, and signage.)
Also, would you provide me with the file of the "e" symbol alone.

Best Regards,
Erin
