Hey guys,

Never used this forum before, but I like what I see so far. We are designing a site for a commercial real estate company. The company provides brokerage, property management and consulting services.

Company Name: EVS Realty Advisors, Inc.
Company Location: St. Louis, MO - USA

Theme: Please reference the logo at the bottom of this page, it should be included in the design. Also, the colors in the logo should be heavily represented throughout the design.

Design: The site should have a link bar along the top and on the left margin. The front page should have a small content area for intro and three boxes for things like: email contact form, in the news, featured property, etc.

Important: All link text, and header text should be editable. This means that you should use images for the cell or table backgrounds, but that the text will sit on top, and can be editable. This does not include, of course, the logo text. For example see http://www.theinternetsolution.com . Notice how the link text is html, with image background.

The site should include a CSS for use with the menu links, and body text. We can add the other elements later.

The top banner should contain images of tall buildings, and it would be really nice to include images of the St Louis Arch. You can get tons of public domain images of the Arch from Google. Let me know if you need me to supply them.

Some menu links to use are:

Home
Company Profile
Services
Properties
Team Members
News Releases
Employment
Contact Us

The 2nd page should be a template for all of the "inner" pages, this page should be a stripped down version of the home page, and should allow for more content.

Let's get going on the design, and I'll provide more detail info as we move along.

Contest Ends 10-27-03
may end early if we get what we need

Thanks for your help,

Brad

Hello Brad,

Your contest interests me and so I will definitely be putting something together for it. I just wanted to clarify something before I began.

You want the menu on the top, as well as on the left...and you want the menu titles (home, company, services, etc.) to be in text?
Or are you just referring to the header titles for the text boxes, content area, etc.

Thanks :)

Adil

You want the menu on the top, as well as on the left...and you want the menu titles (home, company, services, etc.) to be in text?

Sort of. The menu on the top will be different from the menu on the left. The top menu will contain links to general site functions, like Home, Site Map, Careers, Contact Us - and the menu on the left will deal with the actual offerings of the company, such as: brokerage, property management, consulting, current properties, clients, case studies, etc.

Basically all text, except the top banner, should be html. This will help in search engine indexing, and allow us to easily make changes and updates. See our site at http://www.theinternetsolution.com to get an idea.

Also, please re-read the above message, I forgot to mention the 2nd template page details, and have now edited the post to inlcude this info. I will continue to update the initial post as we move along.

Thanks again,

Brad

Is no one else interested in taking a shot at this project? Let me know if I need to clarify anything.

Thanks,

Brad

I'll probably have time to work on an entry this weekend.

Thanks for posting. Here are some thoughts:

1. More white space, cleaner design, less gradient.
2. I only gave our site, http://www.theinternetsolution.com as an example of how the text should be in html over images as cell backgrounds. The design should not look anything like our site.

3. If the whole thing about html over images as cell backgrounds is a turnoff for you, no big deal. You can just use images. The only thing is that you'll have to work with us a bit longer as the client will probably take some time deciding what image text will go where.

I hope that last sentence makes sense  I've been staring at the screen a bit too much today, and so I must retire. I hope to see some more ideas this weekend.

Thanks,

Brad

Left navbar : If chosen will be converted to TXT (editable) however it's image at the moment.
The quality of image : Left navbar looks better actually however to save time (loading) I reduced the quality of image.

I like both of the last two entries. Harry, I would like to see that header image a little lighter and brighter, but I really like the way that you merged the logo into the design.

The colors are not quite right, and I think it is my fault. I will post a better quality logo so that you can get the colors exact, what appears violet should actually be a lighter blue.

OnlyPHP, I will also post some images of buildings that EVS works with, so they may be included in your design.

Thanks guys. Looking good so far, I'd like to see some others take a shot.

Best wishes,

Brad

can I still enter? Are you going to extend? I'll post something by tomorrow.

I have extended the deadline to 10-27-03

I have also updated the logo with a true color version. Please use generic citycapes, and pictures of the St Louis Arch at this point, and we can replace those buildings later on.

Thanks again,

Brad

Hi Brad,

I have made an attractive design that is easy on the eyes and works well for what I believe you want it for. The design is made for 800x600 resolutions and up, it is easy to code and is fast loading, and the main page was designed so that it is easy to update and so that it is not confusing to the visitor. ("News Releases" in the left navigation is a rollover)

I have used the old colors of the logo you have provided, if you wish for me to change it I will. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated so that I can provide you with a great looking web site design.

Thanks,
Tim
