Hi everyone! I am posting this contest with a $40 prize in order to get a logo for our youth group trip to a Group Workcamp this summer. The logo should include the name of the youth ministry STUDENT IMPACT the name of our town Liverpool, NY and the location of the workcamp Ithaca, NY. The rest is up to you, and I will check in daily to give feedback on the logos that you are posting.
Thanks for the impact you are making on the kids of our world with talents that God has given you!!!!

Hi again Chris :)

Do you want me to merge this contest with the one you have going in the Charity Cases forum or just close that one and start over with this one? Or are they separate requests?

These are seperate requests, I did not post this one in the charity cases because people are paying for the t-shirts the logo will be placed on and did not think it would be right to use other peoples' talent to sell a t-shirt without compensation.
By the way, you are great at keeping up with everything on here!!! I know I appreciate it!

Ahh, got it. I understand now. That will be fine. Thanks for clarifying and good luck with your contest. :)

Just go ahead on this contest it will be open for the next four weeks (ending on February 25). The logo for the workcamp does not depend on our other logo.

At the workcamp teenagers from our church will be working on home improvements for people that can't afford upkeep on their house or for the elderly and disabled. You can visit
Group Workcamps (http://www.groupworkcamps.com) to get an idea for what they are all about. Our particular trip is to Ithaca, NY which is the home of Ithaca College and Cornell University. In the Finger Lakes Region of New York State.

Its about time this contest got started so heres my first attempt to kick it off!

Just a couple of quick questions before I get cracking on this:
1) Is this design strictly being used on a t-shirt?
2) If so, what are your limitations? 1-color, 2-color, more? 4-color process. In the screen printing world, costs go up dramatically as colors are added.

ElKootcho

Here's my first entry... simple, patriotic, four colors

I just realized the typo in Ithaca. Sorry!

02-09-2003, 05:09 AM
OK, I like both of the posts so far, a couple things though... John...can you take out "from & held at" just go with "Liverpool, NY to Ithaca, NY" the other is don't rely on the Group website for correct spellings, the correct way to spell the town we are going to is Ithaca.

The screen printing place that is going to make the t-shirts is owned by a woman that is a member of our church so do not let the number of colors be an issue when you are designing.

Thanks for the change ElKootcho! Adam, I like the logo, can you also try something without the cross? I want the kids that are going to go on this trip to feel completely comfortable wearing their shirts at school, with a cross on it I know a few of them that would not wear it.

Hi there,

Well this might have a little more detail than required for a t-shirt, but I was having fun with it and thought I would show you as you may like to use it for some brochures or something else.

It certainly does look like you were having fun Zoe, and I might use it on a flyer or brochure, with your permission of course.

OK, when you are thinking of how you craft your logo entry be thinking of the kind of clothing that is popular with teens today, start thinking Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister & Co., GAP, American Eagle. I want these t-shirts to be of that genre so they will show that our group is relevant to teens in their culture.

Thanks guys - I should have really been doing my business work - but somehow I became distracted. hmm... slaps myself of on the wrist...

szulwachc: ok here come the questions.

How many colours will be used for the print?
What colour TShirts do you have in mind?
What type of print will it be? - ink? that puffy stuff? iron on type?

I will try to find some time to put together a serious entry... and sure you can use my last entry for brochures. Was really the reason I posted it. : )

Zoe

Actually: Can you also explain a little bit about what goes on at the camp?

szulwachc
02-11-2003, 08:26 AM
OK here goes,
~don't worry about what color the shirts will be I am not locked into a color, it just depends on the logo that will be chosen
~we will be printing them up in silk screen, probably 4 color but if your come up with something cool with fewer colors that is fine too.
~The workcamp involves kids from many different churches going to a specific town, in our case Ithaca, NY...during the week we are there there will be 400 teenagers staying at a local school along with my group, during the day we break off into smaller groups and go to pre-determined homes of elderly, disabled, and needy people to do basic home up keep work like painting, roofing, building wheelchair ramps, fixing porches, etc... The groups pay their own way for the week ($385/person not inc. transportation) to be there in order to help people that can't help themselves. For more info check out the website... John I like version three the best out of your posts.

Can anyone out there work up logo that looks similar to a baseball style logo, it might say "Student Impact" and in the swosh underneath "Liverpool, NY to Ithaca, NY 2003"

john

Something like this?

szulwachc

I like that John, can you make the actual swosh an put the text inside with write font? Try to tighten the swosh up to the Student Impact.

How about something like this? Perhaps you could have the silkscreeners do some sort of worn, crackled effect like the Abercrombie/Hollister look you're going for. :)

Looks good.

Here is a different look, but something I thought teenagers wouldn't mind wearing. you could interpret the swwosh behind the 'Student Impact' as hands reaching to touch one another, as that is what you are doing on this camp. : )

Here's my entry on a tshirt. I think a colored tshirt with a white silkscreen would look great and be something that the kids would love to wear. :)

The first logo is th ebaseball style logo that you requested earlier and the other three all incorporate a house element which as you described is the focus of the camp.

Sorry everyone, I was away on vacation and couldn't get to the internet for a couple days because of my hotel's network.
Anyway, I love all of the very different options that you are coming up with, just a few more days and I'll have a winner to announce so if you want an entry please post it.

Thank your for choosing my design. I'm glad that you liked and I hope that it works great for you. :)

Unfortunately, I'm vacationing until Friday, so until then, I don't have access to the design. I hope that won't be troublesome for you. I can have it to you by Friday night EST.
