Hello Designers!
We are in need of a logo for our Boutique and online gift shop.
We sell gifts and jewelry for all ages but focus heavily on non-gadgety gifts for children and tweens. Our logo needs to be something that doesn't limit us to childrens toys, but does convey that we are "the" fun place to shop.
You can see some of our products on our old website www.laretroboutique.com.
We are in the process of creating a new website and want to update our brand.
A slightly retro feel is needed with cheerful colors. We are open on colors as the website will be designed around the new logo.
We want to impart a sense of old fashioned customer service, but still very edgy/modern/hip. We absolutely are not a "country" store.
I hesitate to provide examples as our tastes are very eclectic. I'll try to provide some initial guidance though.
I like uncommon goods logo - www.uncommongoods.com - the simplicity yet funky factor is great - however I don't want our logo to be based on their logo.
The Business/url name will be La Retro Gifts. A tag line we are considering is "Where fun is an attitude".
We want a more horizontal logo that will work well in a web page header as well as in print on business cards, ect.
If I need to add anything further please let me know.
We are on a deadline in our website design so will keep up with you all in order to complete this project on time.
Thank you!

Hello folks,
I don't want to sound impatient...I'm working within the confines of some time restrictions so want to check in.
If there is clarification needed, please let me know. I will do my very best to be more specific.
If any designers are considering jumping in on this one could you drop a note into the thread? I just want to be certain that I'm headed in the correct direction to get this project done on schedule.
Thank you so much! You guys rock and I'm looking forward to seeing some of that awesomeness.

I hope it is ok to do this? If not, kindly remove my post.
Titania, your winning design the last time I was here has been the source of a lot of positive attention for our business. I would be honored to have you give a go at a new design for us. :)

Here is an idea for you:)
Let me know if you were looking for a more feminine logo and what colors and font style you would prefer to see.
Thanks, Paula

Thank you so much for jumping in Paula!
I like the fun feel to this logo very much.
I'm a bit anti-purple - I hadn't realized that until just now. I do like the turquoise and I like the star as the dot in the "i".
I don't want a logo that is more feminine as we do sell boys gifts also. Partially why I need to move away from our current logo is because we are expanding into a broader range of products.
I would like the logo to be a little more text based to give it a more trustworthy feel. We do want an element that maintains the fun feel though.
Fun-trustworthy-hip/groovy is the overall feeling we want if it's possible to wrap all of that up together in a logo.
Please feel free to ask me questions if I'm leaving the design options too wide open.
Thank you so much!
Hallie

Good morning!
I'm so excited to see some ideas here this morning. I'm going to do my best to give concise feedback. Hopefully it won't appear too blunt.
Version 1 from Kekepania...it is fun but it just doesn't have the professional feel that I want. The image is a bit too boxy and dominates the text. If you would like to give a try at something a little more text based that would be very welcome.
Pracus, your version 1 is very sweet. I like it. I like that the "La" is slightly less focused on. Could we see this in a few color variations? One variation just a bit more vibrant than version 1 and maybe two variations in completely different color schemes? (Personally I love the brown in "Gifts". That is soooo pretty)
Thanks bunches!

WOW! Lots to look at and ponder. Thank you. :)
*Pracus, I really like the colors in Version 1a and 1b. Very nice! Right now I think the only thing we are struggling with is that the logo is bordering on too playful...maybe a little less curve to it would bring it to feeling more professional. There is such a fine line for us between fun (which is what we like to be) and giving a sense of professional/trustworthy.
I was reviewing logos on well known gift websites such as RedEnvelope.com and found that most of the logos are very bland. We want to be several notches above them in "fun" but not so far that we no longer appear professional.
*Paula23, on first look I didn't really care for this version 1. However after trying it out on the site we are building (it isn't live) it has started to grow on us both. There is something not quite perfect about it but I'm not certain what it is. It may be just a font issue which is minor...possibly a color issue. I have it sitting on our site now and we will each revisit it to see if we can identify what isn't quite working for us.
*Kekepania thank you for taking the time to come up with more ideas for us-we really value your talent and time. These are just leaning too Retro for us in feel. We want to use the "retro" aspect of our products to seperate us from other shops, but don't want to over emphasis it as it only loosely fits our products.

Thank you for all the new work that has been posted!
*pracus we really like this logo and it is being seriously considered.
*Bill, thank you for posting your idea. This is just a bit too bold for us.
*tini1 we love this idea. Would you mind playing with the colors a little to see if you can emphasis the word "gifts" a little more than "retro"? Also could we see one example with a separation in between the words? Also we would love to see a different weight/thickness to the letters for comparison. Your idea is being seriously considered also.
*Paula23 I like the overall idea. The red gift box is VERY nice!!! We don't want that heavy of a focus on the word "La". Would you mind trying another concept with the red gift box though and try to place more weight on the other two words?
Is anyone else planning on submitting an idea? If so please post to let us know. Our deadline is a pretty strict one and we want to make certain we have time to explore your idea.
Thank you so much. You all are so amazing! I'm extremely happy with the creative logo's that you are presenting us with.

This has been a difficult decision. For being on such a short time frame you all came through and presented us with a variety of options. Thank you to each of you!
Pracus, although we ended up not choosing the logo you created, we want to thank you so much for your time. Your work is amazing. This really was a difficult choice.
Tini1 we have decided that your logo is right for us. Thank you very much for submitting this idea! We would like to try a few revisions to see if it can be even better. If you could try a few variations on the brown for comparison it would be appreciated. I like that brown but have had several responses from others that they don't like it. Also, I believe we are going to take the logo without the tag line under it.

Thank you for submitting revisions so quickly!
I am going to try to bring in a few more people to offer me feedback. For some reason we are struggling with finding the correct brown. The other colors in the logo are perfect.

Is it possible to get the files in both the original brown and in option c? I'm uncertain which brown will work the best on the website side of our business and would love to have both available.

Wait, I have one more revision request if that is ok. It hadn't occurred to me until just now.
The original version, could you do the color order exactly the same as version 1 but the fonts (weight/thickness) the same as version 2?
Thank you so much!
