New logo needed for College IT Project

Hi all!

I've been lurking here for awhile, continually impressed by the quality of artwork that comes out of this group. This is my first contest, so go easy on me... ;)

Anyway, need a better logo for a project we're working on. It's a project involving providing a better high school curriculum for technology. It would allow students to be exposed to different areas in the high-tech industry at an earlier age. It is thought that this will enable kids to decide what specific area of technology they wish to pursue in college and the workplace.

The logo we have is this:

While this is 'ok', we'd like a really great logo. Our design should incorporate the colors of the Texas flag (this is a project run by the Austin Community College), although not the exact colors in the above logo (they look a bit washed-out to me). We'd also like our tagline in there somewhere.

We're very excited to see what comes out of this!

We really like your logo submission (your second entry). I just need a couple of minor edits...

1. Remove the tagline 'New Paths for...' from the logo.
2. The 'IT' letters in the logo are a bit too monolithic. Can you reduce the size of those letters by a few points and perhaps choose a font that makes them just a bit slimmer?
3. Fix the corner of the star so that there is no white area infringing on the blue; I.e. line up the corner flush with the side of the 'I'.
