Project Summary:
The name of this three part course is
"The New Business of Photography"

What type of product or service do you offer?

This is a course teaching photographers how to approach new markets to make money. Teaching existing photographers ways to teach their clients how to market effectively with the new types of poses and photos taken.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?

=> Attract current photographers who know what they are doing - and are looking for additional ways to use their skills to make more money.

What are your long term goals?

Promote the course itself, which will consist of a website, an e-book and possibly/probably a hard cover book, perhaps a membership site - but most especially the course on CD/DVD which will contain interviews, the trancsribed interviews in spiral bound or 3 ring notebooks, posing books, and marketing training.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?

Any age
Male will pobably be predominant, but defintiely including women

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?

Professional, Trustworthy, successful,

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)

Gold and Red/wine tones (those are the colors I have traditionally used in my sites) also some green indicating money/prosperity of course black for outline/accent

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?

I am curious to see what the logo may look like with the initials of the course along with the title- and if there is any way to incorporate a camera image or money But NOT NECESSARY to include these at all - if the look and colors convey the message of the quality of the course,

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?

That this is a new way of marketing photography to clients - that the photographer will be set apart and above their competition that it will be lucrative if approached and marketed properly and effectively

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?

Confidence - Marketing - Photography
together these things will make more money for you!

$175 is what I have posted for this project.

This is my first photography course, and will actually be broken up into three courses for initial release one a month after the other. It has been an exciting project to develop, and I thank you for your help in creating the professional tone for this course.

Belladonna - Thank you for getting this process started! I was feeling unloved! lol

I like your ideas - with the 'pictures' camera/$ inside. (although I like the way it looks in b/w) I know the course is how to make money with... and when I see the $ I am not sure I like its effect The RED that you used is closest to what I had in mind. The gold is a bit greenish. I like it brighter. I like the red in front, on #3.


Jennifer - I especially like the iconic look of the shutter flowing into the P. I like the top graphic, with the gradient gold. THis is mor elike the gold I had in mind. Could you make the box a little smaller form the top. Also, the color is more purple than reddish - and are there a couple of additional fonts that sre script, but not quite so 'swirly' - I like the concept, and it seems in too much contrast to the block font. Are there two that flow together better?
Could you make those changes to the second graphic as well - but present them separately, so I can view each one individually? Don't discard these - they may be the one!

Kekepania - I DO like the fact that you placed the initials into a logo exactly as I had requested. AND I like the way you enlarged BUSINESS to stand out, as that IS the point of the course! However, when you did exactly as I asked - I am reading 'teeny bopper' in my mind. ANy other ideas on how that might work?

And here you have a new concept, the idea is that the camera diaphragm also looks like a jewel (with a spark), this way you can have both concepts, the "value" concept in replace of the $ sign, and an object related to photography, hope you like it!.

Kekepania - I like the idea of #15. I was researching photo blogs last night and especially liked one called [b]blog. So it was interesting that you showed this today. Could you reverse the colors - Business in Gold, the other words in the red color? I am wondering if that would equally emphasize each key word. Also, change the font to the same as #16. I prefer the way that font shows. ty

Plum74 - I think you nailed the colors. When I saw them together, they felt right. I like this lens that you have used. The refelction is also very pleasing.
There will be many instances when I will not be able to use the logo with a background. Is it possible to see the entire look with no background? Including the shadow - even in the black and white (gray shadow I guess!)

I would like to see the words The New Business of.... in PMS 483, and Photography in PMS 152 - it feels like they may blend beautifully, incorporating all of the original colors. This may or may not work - but what do you think about making one of the swirls around the lens - maybe the top left one - the orange color. I was trying to picture it on a white background, and making it stand out even more boldly. It just seems like when I would use it on white, it would be appealing to pull in the other two colors.

Belladonna - The Clip art isn't really going to work with what I need. The new lens is interesting, but it first made me think of a diamond , and the twinkle made it seem moreso. ty

Sorry about the delay. We had to go away for a few days, just getting back.
I asked my Mastermind to view all of the selections, and help me choose. Most of them have had the pleasure of haviong logos designed here.
We always see things that the one too close to the job may not.

For #18/26 revision - they saw a Fraggle (muppet) and a bowling ball with hair. aarrgg. I was disappointed with that. I like this color combination the best.

The golds in most other designs seem to have too much green in them.

We all would like to see #14 redesigned a little. The purple color should be a red, and the box a little shorer form the top. Like the one with the gradient. However, I have pm'd cherry graphics, and no response. Assuming it is vacation time.

Kekepania - Like 14 and 15. COuld you alter the golds - and change the coloring of the wording as you did in #21.

Belladaonna Can I see #14 with the gold color changes menetioned and no dollar sign? ANd I very much like #13 - the way the words are... but not that graphic. Can you try something else?

Thank you to everyone who has given me such immediate and exceptional reworks of each design. As a non-designer, it has been fascinating to see the creativivty. And it makes it more difficult to choose!
However, I will do that tomorrow.
xpressions, I find your concept very interesting.
Would you change a couple of things for me to look at?
When I see it right now, it says NEW PHOTOGRAPHY .... could you change the size of the words - just a bit (however will fit) - to make New Business and Photography the largest words? and the colroing of the photos in the red/gold - and even money green - and make the ooutline of the polaroids a little darker. They look very crisp in the b/w - and I like that.

[I] will give you another site to look at - seminarphotography.com - for the colors I am trying to accomplish. I am using reds/gold/black I thought a little green would be good, but I don't think so.

I think that I am looking more to a red - more like #38's version - perhaps even a little more red. And a brighter golden color. I do like the navy color in the snapshots - I would loke to see what one of them would look like as a dark green.... (I was searching for a bit of grren to go along with the 'making money' theme) Getting the right color combination is the only thing remaining.

I also very much like the 'fun' in the color scheme of #37
can you play with the colors a bit, so I can see several combinations? I want to live with this combination a long time, so I want to get it where it feels just right.

Can you try the word "Photography" in the CMYK color 0,4,85,24 and "New Business" in 22,91,73, 12
I'm not sure what those translate to in PMS colors the snapshots actually looked better in #49. Truthfully I Like how did the first line of text in #42 with the New in Maroon but business in a Grey tone it made the NEW pop more

I like what you did with the snapshots. perfect!
I would like to see the gold in this gradient -that would be a cmyk of 0,30,100,20 (and dollar signs)
then could you outline the words in a thin black line to make them all POP!

I was searching, and found this example that I especially liked the way the Title (name) of Armand Morin's Internet Marketing Explained product looks - I think that is what I am seeing in my mind - and will make it the perfectly designed and colorized logo

Really makes the words stand out.

The numbers I sent for the gold - weren't they a gold gradient?
That is the only thing I want to see - is a comparison to the solid gold and the gradient gold. If you search for Internet Marketing Explained - Armand Morin you can see a blue/gold product that uses that gradient design in the word - EXPLAINED It is a very rich and appealing look.
