Hi everyone,<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
I’m an actor working with a group of people on 2 documentary projects (we have other ideas in the pipeline) We need to pitch these ideas to senior network executives and get them interested in our projects. Rather than go with cap in hand, synopsis, script etc, we want to create a website that we can refer people to. This website is not for public access, we will give a password to each target and track their progress within the website (which project they looked at, how long they took etc). hopefully if one of our projects is picked up we can work as a group on others and also use that success to build a small video production company that keeps us working in the industry while we’re waiting for that ‘big break’ – just like you guys.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
I originally wanted something like Merlin productions or round table or … something a bit mystical, magic but I ended up using Perbenyik because someone said it sounded different, exotic. Perbenyik (Pribenik) is the name of a small town in Slovakia where my family came from. My attempt at a logo included an image of the property my great Grandfather lived in, it’s now an agricultural college.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
I guess if I were making horror films it might suit but I need something exceptional. Once we have the logo we’ll submit the brief for a website <o:p></o:p>

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?<o:p></o:p>
The business name – Perbenyik Productions

What type of product or service do you offer?<o:p></o:p>
We want to develop our own ideas for film & TV and also offer High Definition Video production services, equipment & personnel

How long have you been in business?
just started<o:p></o:p>

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
interest major networks in our ideas for documentaries<o:p></o:p>

What are your long term goals?<o:p></o:p>
To become a ‘real’ production company accepting work from clients and pursuing our own ideas for film and TV

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
15th of August ?<o:p></o:p>

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
We have no existing audience, our initial audience will be ‘media tired’ network exec’s and larger independent producers<o:p></o:p>

Who would you like to add to your audience?<o:p></o:p>
Eventually, anyone looking for a video production company

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
something that can translate from webpage to business card to golf shirt<o:p></o:p>
Clean, not complicated, easy to see/read<o:p></o:p>
Something that stands out, attracts the eye<o:p></o:p>

Do you have any colours in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)<o:p></o:p>
I need something that stands out on a black background for clothing (for working on location & backstage) anytime I’m on location the logo becomes a walking advert on my shirt or cap
red? (this blood/vampire/horror theme just won’t go away will it?) – I’m open to suggestions<o:p></o:p>

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?<o:p></o:p>
Not really
I thought about an image that said ‘film/video…’ but the name ‘productions’ tends to suggest that anyway<o:p></o:p>

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?<o:p></o:p>
Intriguing, knowledgeable, out of the ordinary

What is your tagline or slogan?<o:p></o:p>
You tell me – I’d love one (that’s not the slogan, I’d really like one)

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
this is worth a second look, there’s something different about these guys
<!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]-->
<!--[endif]--><o:p></o:p>
Where will your new logo be used?<o:p></o:p>
Website, card, clothing, letterhead, email etc etc

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?<o:p></o:p>
Louderthanwords – crap<o:p></o:p>
Flashback - okay<o:p></o:p>
Action “<o:p></o:p>
Goodeyedeer okay<o:p></o:p>
Limelight nice<o:p></o:p>
180 nice (don’t get it)<o:p></o:p>
None of them really grab me or say anything in particular

List competitive URLs if possibe<o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

What sets you apart from your competitors?<o:p></o:p>
We are total newbie’s

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
A moving network of talent, meshing together in different ways for different projects<o:p></o:p>
Collaboration, synergy<o:p></o:p>

Hi,

I've been away for a couple of days - sorry!

Pracus - Great Start! I like the image and the slogan. I wonder if the cameraman could be 'a little older' he looks like a kid and I don't want to portray that.
With the slogan, could we try - life in HD or life in 1020p and could I see the name in a strong red?

Giant - thanks for bumping this along - I like the 'cameraman' angle but the whole thing doesn't do a lot for me - any other ideas?

thanks again guys - anyone else?

here it comes :)

Thanks Pracus, I'm still concerned about the apparent age of the camera operator - he looks like a student. I don't want to give the impression that we are a group of learners. Apart from that it's looking pretty good

Hello - here is a design from me. :)

Hi Kekepania - I like it - it's hard to see what I'd change but I am wondering how the logo looks from a distance (would it clearly represent a cameraman)

while I really like the designs so far I'd hate you to limit yourselves because I put a couple of images in - I actually removed them once fearing I would push everyone in a certain direction.

If you have any different ideas, no matter how 'left field' they are - let's see 'em

here's a few more images that appealed to me

Hi Kepepania, Just looking at the design again - I was wondering if it could be a little squarer, rather than rectangular - I don't know if that would spoil the effect?

Hi Pracus, Just wondering if you can make the cameraman a little older - he looks more like a
'cameraboy' at the moment

Sure, we can take a look at a square logo. :)

And here is different take. :)

PaulM

Thanks Kekepania - I actually like both the square & rectangular. The clapper board doesn't do anything for me though, it seems 'ordinary'

thanks Pracus, I see he's got a few worry lines now - I'm not sure what's making him look so young, maybe his hair or the roundness of his face - but maybe I'm fussing over nothing.

Thanks Unorthodox, I really like the use of the 2 P's and the film image - any chance I see the P's in red?
It's a fixation :-)

I've got do head off for a couple of days so rather than expend the deadline I thought I'd shorten it. I'll make a decision on the 13th so if anyone had any other designs now is the time to throw them into the mix

I must say it's a difficult decision with the quality of ideas presented - I'm not sure what to do

Hi Paul!
We can work on it later if you'd like to keep my design of course.
Take care! :)

Hi Everyone,

well time to bit the bullet...

Pracus, I really liked your deign, it was clean, stark, really stood out but I have a real problem with the 'cameraboy' and I'm not sure that could have been resolved.

Unorthodox, simple and elegant but in the end I was concerned about the film Vs Video image.

Kekepania, (I wish you had an easier name:blush: - I have to check the spelling each time) I've chosen your design to work with. It had a sense of movement or action (if that makes sense). I'm away for a couple of days but when I get back I'll talk about colours and working in the slogan.

Thanks to everyone for contributing - this is a fantastic site and I'll be telling everyone I can about it.

Yes, it could but it doesn't matter yet :)

Congratulations, Kekepania!

Hi Stephanie,

okay let's polish this thing off. I actually like both the rectangular & square logos - I would mostly use the rectangular but for some smaller items (equipment stickers etc) I'd like to make use of the square if that's okay.

I like the red because it's bold but before I finalise I'd like your opinion, perhaps you can come up with a few colour combinations thet you feel will suit the logo for comparision purposes.

I wonder if the bottom line on the logo can be thick enough to have a small slogan within (like a cutout).

With any of these ideas I'd like your opinion on what works and doesn't - just becasue I like something doesn't mean it's suitable.

I have some other ideas but let's start with these if that's okay

Cheers
Paul

Hi Paul,

I'm glad you like both the square and rectangle, and of course, you may have both. Here is a visual of both shapes with the added tagline. And as fond as I am of the red as well, I will explore some color studies and post them soon. :)

Thanks!

Hello again,

Here are a few color explorations. Let me know if you are liking certain colors over others and want to see more in that direction. I really like the bright red original and the dark red samples. :D

PaulM
08-18-2008, 09:04 PM
Wow, that's variety for you!

I think we'll stick with the red - for the line colour I like the lighter ones - the original yellow or the light grey or orange.

I don't know that we can improve on the original much but I would like to think about the slogan. I'll get back to you in a couple of hours after I've done some scribbling.

PaulM
08-19-2008, 04:38 AM
I've looked at some variations on the slogan but again the original says what I want it to say.

I think versions 1.5 & 2.5 are it - I'm happy, what do you think? is there anything you'd like to suggest?

glyphica
08-19-2008, 05:54 PM
I agree. Version 1.5 and 2.5 it is! If you would email me the email address you would like me to send your logos too, then I will send them on over. :)
Thank you.

will the logo's be on a clear background?

Hi Paul,

I just sent you your final logo. Let me know if you have any questions or need any other formats.

Thanks!

PaulM

Great thanks - the only problem I have is for a black background (a black shirt etc) is it possible to have one where the cameraman is white - that way it can go straight onto a black shirt

glyphica

Hi Paul,

No problem, I just emailed you the logo versions with the camera man in white on a black background. Let me know if you need anything else. :)
