Our company name is: Brite Lights of Houston. We were thinking it would be nice to incorporate a star, but we are open to whatever suggestions you have. We are a full service Christmas lighting company that caters to high-end residential and commercial accounts. We're looking for a polished, professional logo that we can use for all of our marketing.

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Brite Lights of Houston
What type of product or service do you offer?
high-end Christmas lights, wreaths, garland and trees
How long have you been in business?
5 years
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
previously we had used the logo of our manufacturer (we are an authorized distributor). We have now added a 2nd manufacturer, and as such we need to create our own identity and not rely on the logos of our manufacturers.
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
We would like to have this project completed in one week.
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
high-end residential clients
Who would you like to add to your audience?
commercial clients
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
polished, professional logo, maybe incorporating the Christmas star
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
red, green, and white -- because they are traditional Christmas colors
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
we are open to suggestions
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
What is your tagline or slogan?
We have previously used the tagline of our manufacturer -- 'Say it with lights' -- we no longer want to use that and we are open to another tag line
Where will your new logo be used?
all of our marketing -- web, print, shirts
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
List competitive URLs if possible
These are websites of our manufacturers:
www.sayitwithlights.com (http://www.sayitwithlights.com)
www.holidaybrightlights.com (http://www.holidaybrightlights.com)
Website of our main competitor:
www.theperfectlight.com (http://www.theperfectlight.com)
What sets you apart from your competitors?
our unique products and customer service

:(. I was hoping to see a couple ideas by now. Did I post enough information for our logo? I used this site a couple years ago for my parents company and was really impressed with the talented designers. Please tell me if I need to give more information.

Oh wow! Thanks guys – this is a fantastic start! :)
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
A couple notes to all designers ---
<o:p></o:p>
-our company name is spelled ‘Brite Lights of Houston.’
<o:p></o:p>
-Also, we specialize in unique lights called ‘linkables’ and ‘light links’. A look at our manufacturers’ websites or our website, www.briteideasofhouston.com (http://www.briteideasofhouston.com/), shows pictures of these. We try to stay away from C-9s (the regular string of Christmas lights) as much as possible. So…we prefer to stay away from that in our logo. We would like to explore the possibility of using the Christmas star, a Christmas ornament, or some other type of image instead of the string of lights.
<o:p></o:p>
Kekepania – LOVE the fonts and the way you did the text…would like to see a different image used
<o:p></o:p>
Blue Cherry Graphics – Version 1 - can you try a more “curvy” font for ‘Brite Lights’ and try a star that looks a little more “polished” (if that makes sense). Version 2 & 3 – not really feeling those
<o:p></o:p>
Relevant Studio – like the concept, but see notes above please (for all designers)
<o:p></o:p>
Thanks again guys!!

Hello, here's my take
All comments are welcome.

kekepania -- love your last submission! It captures the elegant look we're going for
plum74 -- I like where you're going with it -- maybe play with some variations of it...richer colors...different font
relevant studio and blue cherry graphics -- anxious to see some more
I included part of a door hanger we used last year....it's an ornament. I don't want to use the text inside it of course...but I didn't know if maybe there was a way to incorporate the ornament into our logo instead of the star. I always liked that ornament.
I'm also tossing around a tag line of 'Your Christmas Lights Solution' -- can that be incorporated?
Thanks!! It's looking great!!

In one of my earlier posts, we increased this project to $200. Can you please reflect that in our thread heading? Thank you!!!

Can you post the ornament file as a pdf? I don't have word....
BriteLights

The site wouldn't let me post the .pdf because it's part of a door hanger we did and the file size is too large (hence the Word doc the first time). BUT...I saved it as a .jpg this time. Let me know if that doesn't work!
Thank you so much for your work!!!

To all the designers -- thank you so much for all your submissions!! :D I think we’ve narrowed it down to two of Kekepania’s designs. Kekepania – if I could see some revisions to version #4 and #5:
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
-#4 – love the idea of the star inside the ornament!! Could you put a bow on the ornament and tilt it a little more towards the words? Also – move it closer to the words. On the words – can you use the same green that you used in version #3? And can you make the ‘of Houston’ a little smaller and emphasize the words ‘Brite Lights.’ Also – we’ll be using this logo on all our marketing – including embroidered t-shirts and graphics for our trailer…will the shadow on the ornament cause a problem for this? If so, could we have a version with the shadow and one without?
<o:p></o:p>
-#5 – I really like this one too!! This is going to be a hard decision! On this one too – can you make the ‘of Houston’ a little smaller and emphasize the words ‘Brite Lights.’ On this design, I feel like ‘Brite Lights’ is getting a little lost. Would this design be hard for us to have embroidered?
<o:p></o:p>
We’re really close! Thank you so much!

Wow...that's a new twist Shnickerdoodle. I like it! Can you experiment a little with it --- see if a bow can go on the top of the ornament, maybe a richer color red, play a little bit with the font for 'Brite Lights.' I also like the way you did 'of Houston' at the bottom -- but can we use something other than the banner there?
I really like the concept! Thank you!

[FONT=Times New Roman][SIZE=3]To all the designers -- thank you so much for all your submissions!! :D I think we’ve narrowed it down to two of Kekepania’s designs.
Hello,
Please clarify: have you selected Kekepania as the designer, or is the project still open to entries?
Thanks!
BriteLights
08-06-2008, 07:31 PM
Blue Cherry Graphics -- sorry for the confusion -- the project is still open to submissions -- especially if you have a revision to your version with the Christmas tree.
Kekepania --
-on the ornament -- can you make the bow more like the one in the picture I posted earlier?
-on the other design -- I like those changes --- can you still put a little more emphasis on the word 'Brite Lights' -- maybe making the star a little smaller would work? I really like that design but for some reason I feel like the 'Brite Lights' doesn't stand out enough
This is going to be a very tough decision!!

Shnickerdoodle---Can you play with bow a little more? I really like the bow on the ornament I posted earlier. Also---I don't think I like the green on the 'Bright Lights' text. And maybe still a different font for that? I like the concept.
Relevant Studio -- don't care for that one really. I go more for 'curvy' fonts.
Thanks guys!!!

On the last ornament -- I like it -- but can you make the font for 'Brite Lights' a little bolder or thicker? I like the curvy -- just want it not so thin. Thank you!!

After a lot of thought, and collecting opinions from several people -- we have decided to go with expression's last design. Thank you all designers for your hard work and submissions -- it was a very difficult decision.
Expressions -- I'm not sure how we go about getting the files. Also, I think I still need the moderator to help me increase our project deposit (we had started at $150 and increased to $200).
Thank you everyone and congratulations Expressions!!
