Logo Design Assessment
<hr style="color: rgb(218, 237, 255);" size="1"> <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message --> To guide the designers in the right direction from the start, please complete the following questionnaire and copy and paste it in the first message of your logo project:

Design Outpost Creative Brief Worksheet

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
SLN STUDIOS with either 'telling your story' or with modern/fresh/unique

What type of product or service do you offer? custom photography specializing in newborns/maternity, high school seniors and weddings

How long have you been in business? 3 years

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity? a fresh clean brand and reach those high end clients

What are your long term goals? To brand myself and have my branding be simple and clean enough to cover my specialties

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer? I am sort of in a rush - opening a studio and hoping to get all these parts together for grand opening ack! I like what I have on my website but I need something to help incorporate the name of my business - I'm having a terrible time with people recognizing that it's an L not an i (everyone thinks it's sin studios vs. SLN)

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience women usually..moms/brides & high schoolers

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like? clean/simple/fresh

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?) I love white/black and lime together - very happy/calm feeling with those colors

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo? I love damask print or swirls - I absolutely LOVE this photographers look with what she's done - http://www.evangelinestudios.com/index2.php since you can use that print as a watermark or sticker etc

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business? high end photographer with great taste

What is your tagline or slogan? Tell your story

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience? that I'm a classy high end photographer

Where will your new logo be used? business card/website/letterhead - on the front door of my studio

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos? http://cadystudios.com/ (love their look with the swirls and think it can be used with all avenues) but I don't really know my competition as I just moved here about 6 months ago

List competitive URLs if possible http://cadystudios.com/
shutterlyperfect.com (very old fashioned)
http://www.northlightjax.com/ (again very dated)
coutureweddingstudios.com (love theirs -very simple/classy/high end)
http://www.capturingreallife.com/portraits/index2.php (love her style - a bit of an urban feel)

What sets you apart from your competitors? I'm a personal experience with a funky edge brought down from CT/NY very different from southern style down here.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company: high end boutique style photographer

Thanks! Stacy

nhr - I love the frame - the green is a little off - I like more of the bright lime green color. The font is a little techno for me but I realize with the issue of mixing up the sln with sin it has to be pretty obvious...

and djaka - it looks a little 'saloon' for me and not the colors I requested. I am looking for something that I can use to brand myself as well with letterhead/watermark etc

I can't thank you two enough I'm under such a deadline and there doesn't seem to be much interest.

offbeat and nhr (hate not knowing your names ;) ) I love what you two have done - offbeat I love how everything ties together and I love the 'frame' around your nhr. Is the sln and studios too hard? Should I stick with my name as stacy nieuwenhuis photography (my biz lic. is that way and DBA sln studios because my last name was so hard)

Offbeat the one element that yours is missing is I'm hoping to use part of the logo as a watermark for my images and stickers for my boxes etc. Or do you think that would be too busy? I love love love that damask type print....not sure how to tie it in.

Thanks Stacy. My opinion on the damask print is that it's great to use as a background, but don't see it as much of a "logo". There's no reason you can't use a pattern as a background element if it's not part of your "official" logo.

I think that SLN Studios is easier to remember than Stacy Nieuwenhuis Photography, so you might want to stick with that. Do you have a domain registered? I would advise using what you have as a domain as the name in your logo if possible.

With all 3 of the designs I'm showing the "sln" part can easily be used on its own as a watermark.

Hello & thank you again Stacy,
If you think to use "frame" and script letters together, that will be mess all arround :) This is the reason why I use non-script font.

Sincerely,
Neb

Jeff I am wondering because my website spot for a logo is so shrinky (if that's a word) is there anyway that I can get the logo just as it is now and with the swoosh ending right after the n and no modern. fresh unique etc (if you look at my website you'll see the little tab on the right) I'm concerned it won't be legible. If not I understand and otherwise it's fine.

No problem. Let me know if this works for the shrinky version...
