(Admin code added by Palmer - 512120M)

I've been trying to design a business card for quite some time, but I'm not a designer, so I've come here to have someone else do it. Sorry to low-ball the price, but I'm just starting up and in a pinch of funds right now. If I like your work I'll probably use you for my later design work (I'll need flyers and other promotional stuff in the future).

Here's an example of the stuff I've come up with:

http://digitsu.net/img/card/digitsucard.gif
http://digitsu.net/img/card/digitsucard2.gif
http://digitsu.net/img/card/digitsucard3.gif
http://digitsu.net/img/card/digitsucard3b.gif
http://digitsu.net/img/card/digitsucard4.gif
http://digitsu.net/img/card/digitsucard5.gif

We don't have a real logo yet either. The font used is called Chicken Scratch if you wish to use the same font for the title. The name "Digitsu" is just a play on words on the martial arts, so I was going for some kind of logo that looked active when I used that font. The colors I used aren't important, I'd just like a card that looks interesting - something loud (eye-catching) and unique.

I'd also like someone to design the back of the card too. Thanks.

Here's an idea for the front of the business card....

... and one for the reverse.

(you'll notice I've used the same colours - only because these are the colours you used in all your designs, so I was presuming that these were the colours you wanted?? If you'd like me to experiment with other colours, just say the word! :) )

Hi! I'm not really a business card designer but the Digitsu name interests me :D Anyway, in what format do you need it? Can I submit it in PSD if ever I win?

jonmulk: I like the look, though the colors could be a tad bolder (I'm going for eye-catching, though not so eye-catching that it's hideous). I'm still not sure I want to go with that font either.

Luc: PSD is fine. I'd like something I can tweak a bit if I feel the need to.

Nfrack: a bit too simple. not to fond of that color or font either.

Hypnosis: looking good, but I don't know if breaking digitsu into two colors is a good idea since it's not two words (I usually like that look in a logo/title, but I think it would confuse my clients). I'm doing full color prints, so some kind of tech-related texture somewhere on the card (not the whole thing), or maybe an interplay of similar colors like the intro page background onhttp://www.elephantsandants.com/ (perhaps doing something similar to that would look better then some kind of texture anyways)

I hope these comments help.

Hypnosis: I like what you've done, but it seems that the text is harder to read on both of those. If I do decide to use one of your card ideas would you be able to send it as a .PSD so I can fuss with any picky little details myself?

graphxguy: Interesting card concept, but I don't like the colors or the digitsu font. alternating font boldness seems a bit overused in this case.

I think I'll have this contest end by this weekend, but until then I'll be waiting for any last minute entries and changes.

Strange, I stopped getting emails about this post, so I just figured nobody was posting anything.

graphxguy: I really like the back of that last card. I like the front colors, but something about that much white space looks off to me (I don't know how to really word that since I'm not a designer). Much better then the last one.

Luc: Very nice entry! Not really into that grey and orange border or the font though. good work.

Hypnosis: Looks more readable now. Not really sure what'd I'd change. I keep looking back at the first one you did. That shade of green seemed a bit more eye catching then the lighter green, but that's always something I can mess with later if I go with one of your designs.

mute design: bold, but too basic.

jonmulk: interesting layout, but not the best color choices.

I think I'll make my decision tonight (I'm really having a hard time deciding which design to go with). Chances are I'll want to change the layout or colors a little, so I'll need it in a layered PSD format.

Hope you get this before you make your decision.

....less white space and rearranged some elements.

Thanks.

These designs are laid out in Illustrator, but converting them to PSD is no problem if that's what you need.

Here you go! I'm not sure if I understand your comments right. I just removed the gray DIGITSU word with orange background at the left side. If you need the fonts to be changed, I'm gonna change it if ever I win :)
Thanks!

Well, it's been very hard trying to decide on a card, but I think I've made up my mind.

graphxguy, I'm going to go with your design. you win. if possible send the card as a PSD, but if it's an Illustrator file that should be fine too, just as long as everything is on its own layer so I can make little changes to it. Send it to bizcard@digitsu.net when you get the chance. Thanks!

I'm sure I'll need more design work in the future, so if you didn't win this time don't fret.
