Make a 'basic' membership (free) and leave the designers to participate on contests without a data procesing so long.
I am prof. designer from 2000 ,but I dont have url's!
So a cant join?!
The site is cool and I like that you have projects(and no 'membership fee')!
I like the competition to!

Hi Pc Design I don't want to sound rude but if you have been designing since 2000 then you must have some work to show for it! I know some don't have web sites but in this day and age it 's essential to have some sort of online portfolio.

My advice is to find a free or cheap hosting (even ISP are giving away free web space) and then upload any work you have done. Not only will it help with your application here but for getting work elsewhere, potential clients these day's will ask for an online portfolio and then ask if you have a hard copy to send to them.

Good Luck

Michael

Maybe not a web designer but print!

Except for illustrators and template makers, we do not have any openings for members of the Design Team at this time. As we get more contests I look through the hundreds of applications I've received and choose 1 or 2 to invite.

If you do not have a portfolio of designs for me to look at, most likely you will not receive an invitation. If I receive an application from a print designer that does not have a portfolio online, I will sometimes ask them to send me samples of their work. It all depends on what I read in their application that would indicate that they are somebody I should invite.

As with any "job", it's what I see on the application that determines if you work for us or not.

Hey! I'm a print designer but still manage to have an online portfolio! It doesn't have all the programming bells-and-whistles but all I need is straight HTML. It ain't that hard.

That's what I'm saying dosn't matter what field you are in you can't go wrong with having an online portfolio.

I too work with print and at the moment in the process of getting my portfolio together online and in hardcopy.

Take care

Good luck with application,

You dont answer to my suggestion, you only discuss the portofolio part. You are afraid of free contests? For your info I am already member in a design team. I see an announcement on web and I sign up.Why?For extra money. No ask for works no reply no nothing. Now im confuse .You put announcements on web but you dont want pro.?

Julie

pc design, Palmer DOES want pros--so show him you are a pro. There are places on the web where you can create portfolios. I would suggest creating a portfolio on such a site because it not only helps you in the process of getting on the design team, but it also draws in clients from outside DO.

Another thing to take into consideration is professionalism--I know Palmer looks for that in designers. You need to portray an air of professionalism in your portfolio as well as your communications with DO--be they email or postings.

Some of us waited for quite some time to be members of the design team. Try to practice patience!

Show me this announcement on the web. Are you talking about the application page? Yes, we are always looking for professional designers, it doesn't mean we invite everyone who applies. Do you think other businesses hire every person who fills out an application? No, when they have a need for a new employeee they look through the applications and choose who would be best for the job.

If you can't see your work, how can I invite you?

Why don't you post some of your designs in this thread and let's see what they look like? Just click the browse button when you reply to this message.

I don't want to be rude... just a joke.

I know you make the rules, we play with them.

Hello PC Design,

I know you're eager to design...Maybe if you take it easy and compose an online portfolio things will come up for you. Just a thought.

Take care,
Gilles.

Topics merged and thread re-opened.

pc design, as Gilles said. If you really want to be a member of the team, you will make an effort to put your work on the web. It doesn't have to be pretty, it's just easier for me to look at what you can do that way.

You don't even have to make a web site, just find a free host, upload your work to the web and then send me a link to each design.

Thanks :)

Hi pc design,

I never said that you stoled the image !!!!!!!!!!!! :help:

"I think I'm gonna use that image ... LOL when? never because is copyrighted and still not finished ... I will wait to see the finished artwork
"

this mean you own the image and I will not use it and I wait to see the final result.

I think I was clear... never thought that you not designed that image. For me it was obvious it is an image designed by your hand.

I can apologize if my joke ofenced you or anyone else :help: but not for something that I not said "you have made it a very serious affirmation ,that I have stolen the image from somewhere".

My advice is to read 2 times a message before you make an affirmation.

Anyway let's :drink: and forgot this.

I don't want anyone to be upset here, so I wish you Good Luck and I hope to see you in the DO team.

Best Regards

P.S. you can find a lot of free web hostings in Romania too :
home.ro .... or you can make a search on google. Build your portofolio and win your place in the DO team.

If I can help you with something else send me a message.

Hi pc design. We currently aren't in the market for new team members with your skill set. Please feel free to stop by again in a few months, and dont forget to show us any more work you might have done in that time.

Thanks for your interest in Design Outpost.

Mike :)
