BluPixel Photography (previously Studio 6 Photography Limited) was recently established as a private concern. They require a designer to provide them with a striking, cool looking, ultra-modern logo to re-launch their business.
Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
BLU PIXEL PHOTOGRAPHY
What type of product or service do you offer?
Full range of modern photographic services
How long have you been in business?
This is a newly established studio, but we've been professional photographers in excess of 10 years
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
We hope to stand head and shoulders above the rest...
What are your long term goals?
To be recognised as the best in the industry...
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
30th November 2008
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
Anyone and everyone, but predominantly young executives and beautiful families, couples, singles
Who would you like to add to your audience?
People from all walks of life.
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
We would like a professional looking logo that's unique and that stands out from the crowd. It should be visually distinctive and incorporate simple colour combinations, modern, clean, geometric shapes/lines
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Blues, greys and blacks...
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
The words BLU PIXEL should be included - clean, ultra-modern geometric shapes/lines...the less fussy the better!...fussy is bad, very bad!
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
We're a young, modern studio who will go the extra mile for our clients and produce something that is totally unique.
What is your tagline or slogan?
We don't really have one.
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
We're a cut above the rest...
Where will your new logo be used?
Box lit signage, behind the reception desk on the wall, stationary, business cards, envelopes, mail outs, recall cards, etc.
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company
We're a young, dynamic professional studio
We are more than likely going to use Bludomain to host our website: http://www.bludomain.com/websites.cfm?wcID=5
There is further information on logo sizes etc available here...

Hello Designers!
Ok, there are some cool designs in the archives that we quite like...we're now thinking that 'Blu Pixel Photography', looks a lot better as 'BluPixel' or 'Blupixel'...and we're agreed that the 'Blu' element should be in one font and the 'Pixel' element in an entirely different font? (possibly a bold and regular font combination?)...the actual logo needs to be clean, ultra-modern and non-fussy...classy, yet simple, striking and easy to remember.
We have decided that our new website will be predominantly white with coloured accents...hence with love the idea of staying with blacks, blues and greys...blue/purple even...but hey, you guys are the designers and we're here to be guided and advised by you throughout this process! You're all producing some really cool work and we're looking forward to seeing your ideas!

We like this logo a lot...something along a similar (not identical) theme would be great!

Thanks Offbeat - we're off to a great start!...we really like the simplicity of the first design and the rounded font...it all sits together very nicely. We'd love to see the same design but in a more bluey/purple...would that be possible?
We're not overly keen on the second design if we're honest with you...we can't put a finger on it...it follows the brief perfectly, but just lacks something in the 'impact' stakes - sorry!

Keep those designs coming in guys...hopefully our project will receive proper validation tomorrow (Monday)! - we're regularly monitoring what you're all producing/have produced, both in current threads and in the archives, and a very talented bunch you all are! Indeed, we're so certain that we'll find a designer who will produce the goods...that we're going to post additional projects to design logo for us as individual photographers in the very near future! Keep those designs coming in guys...

Morning guys - my haven't we been busy overnight!
glyphica (Kekepania): we quite like, but the blue colour needs to be much stronger...more masculine...and we'd like to see the same design with the two elements Blu & Pixel brought together as one word...hope that makes sense!
Giant:You're right on the money with your first design!...we like it a lot!...having slept on it last night, we're agreed that we'd like to see more designs where the words 'BluPixel' somehow melt into a geometric shape, as you've done here... could the word 'photography' be spaced out so that it fits perfectly below 'blupixel'? As for your second design, we're not keen to be honest...we like the font used...it just lacks something! - the grey of 'photography' is somehow lost against the white background.

Giant: - that's much better don't you think? - we certainly like the idea, although personally, I still think that the PMS Cool Gray 7 loses something against a white background? It's neat though and certainly our favourite thus far! We don't know whether or not this will work, but could we perhaps add a couple of small, solid blue squares, one sitting directly above the other immediately adjacent to the downstroke of the letters 'B' ad 'L'?...hope that's clear? - Good job though!

Offbeat: - Thanks for taking onboard our comments and re-working the designs...we love 'em!...we particularly like the last design you've submitted; the logo is now much stronger with the addition of the purple (PMS 2745) - it adds a little more depth to the logo and it's very striking against the white background now - Good job! You and Giant have really given us something to think about now...

Giant: Cool! - both are good but we particularly like v1.3...would it be possible to add a third colour into this design (possibly a light blue/grey)? Much like Offbeat has done in his v5 above...it just adds that extra bit of depth to the overall scheme. It is an extremely close run thing at the moment - there are elements in every design submitted thus far that we like which makes our final decision all the more difficult!

Dear All - Thank you all for all your efforts and hardwork thus far...we have just past a vote around the office and firm favourite is Offbeat's v5.0, with Giants v1.4 (a) in very close second...
Offbeat: Could you do a V5.0 but include some of those small blue squares, beneath the word photography, on the 'Blu' end of the logo? - and is there any possibility of see some alternative round fonts that might sit well with the overall design? Thanks in anticipation.
All: It has been suggested in the office that they would like to see some more designs where the word(s) Blupixel are incorporated in the overall design...apologies if I'm not articulating that at all well...in an earlier message, we included a link to Blue Pixel Group with a picture of their logo...something along those lines...a more square design? Great work thus far, but over to you guys...

Taldo: Thanks for taking part in this project - that first submission of yours is very striking in it's simplicity, and so different from the submissions from the other designers thus far. We have a couple of minor reservations; how will it look reproduced on a white background?, the word 'photography' needs to be a little larger, and Blu Pixel needs to be a little more prominent - Great job though...
tini1: Again, thanks for taking part in this project. That's cool too... although we're not sure that it's quite what we're looking for?! The design has received mixed reaction in the office, some love it, others aren't so sure...we really want the 'wow' factor!

Taldo: Thanks for the revision...it's great! Decisions, decisions....
Plum74: Welcome and thanks for participating in this project. Now that's fab! - we particularly like design at the top of the page with the graduated blue logo. Can we suggest a couple of minor changes? - could we see this design again, slightly larger, with 'Blu Pixel' appearing as 'BluPixel' and could the word 'Photography' be made a wee bit larger?...lovely idea.

Plum74: many thanks for coming back to us so quickly....we still prefer the first design (top) on each page; we really like the way the blue graduates from dark to light across the logo...but its the font that is still troubling us...could 'BluPixel/Photography' be moved a little further to the right (separate the two elements a bit more) of the logo?,...we much prefer BLUPIXEL (in caps) in this particular design as it seems to work so much better. Thanks in anticipation.

After much discussion and deliberation this evening, can announce that there are currently three designs that stand head and shoulders above the rest in terms of votes...
In first place currently is Plum74's v1.3a, a close second is Taldo ( (v2.0) and in joint third is Offbeat's (v5.0) and Giant's (v4.0)...so, as you can see we're now gravitating towards those designs mounted on black backgrounds! That's not to say we weren't impressed by some of the other designs...we've jus got to make a decision about what's best for us - you guys are are simply brilliant...we're thoroughly enjoying watching your designs evolve, so keep them coming...
Plum74: As you are currently leading the pack could we see the following a) Version 1.3a (the uppermost design) as a standalone design? b) could we see the same design with the word 'photography' stretched/spaced to the same width as BLUPIXEL? - Thanks in anticipation.

Hi again guys - we've just been introduced to the following website, and have selected colours very close to the following palette for our new website:

Our main background will actually be a colour called Frozen Midnight (Hex 000C14)

BlueCherry: Thanks for participating in this project - we knew what we'd like when we saw it and this is it!. Infact, it's a unanimous vote!
Two minor revisions if we may; a) could there be a little greater degree of separation between the square and the wording (not much...just a fraction), and could we do something to brighten the word 'photography'...it seems to lose itself against the white/dark backgrounds.
All: Thank you all for participating in this, the first of a number of projects that we hope to run through this site in future, but I think we have a winner! Unless there are any further designers working on further submissions, we aim to announce the winner 24 hours from now. Thanks again all - your efforts have been much appreciated and we have thoroughly enjoyed working with you.

BlueCherryGraphics: - Revisions Hi and congratulations again! Could we make the following colour revisions to your version 2.0...unfortunately, we only hav the hex numbers from our website:
Main background Hex No. 000C14
Accent Blue Hex No. 598aff
Accent Text Hex No. d1e3bf
Just one thing, could "blu.pixel" become "blu::pixel"? - if you could do this for us, we would be over the moon! - Oh, do we have to chose betweenthe white/black designs, because we love both!? - black fro the website, white for business cards/stationary etc.
