Let's see what you can do with a pretty simple request. I want a logo of a newly minted rectangular gold bar with the words Stafford Properties LLC stamped in it. The edges should appear raised and the words sunken or "stamped" in the bar as if it just came out of the smelting oven. This probably requires some type of 3-d effect. I think the letters should be black to stand out better. My slogan is "Your GOLDEN Opportunity!" The slogan should not be inside the gold bar and I'm open to font creativity. I would like the slogan to be in a separate file so I can control its placement. My main goal is for the logo to appear to be solid gold, hence the bar shape/concept. Thanks in advance for your time.

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Stafford Properties LLC

What type of product or service do you offer?
Real Estate Brokerage

How long have you been in business?
Just starting

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Establish a high class image

What are your long term goals?
Become an exclusive company catering to high end clients

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer? 11/26/08

Audience Profile:
Home buyers/sellers, owners looking to rent, renters looking for a home

Who would you like to add to your audience?
Higher end customers

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
Logo that appears to be "solid gold"

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Definitely: Solid Gold, because my slogan is "Your GOLDEN Opportunity"

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo? I want the words to appear to be stamped into a solid gold bar. This would have somewhat of a 3-d effect where the edges are raised and the letters are sunken (stamped).

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
High Class
What is your tagline or slogan?
Your GOLDEN Opportunity

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
Doing business with my company is worth its weight in gold, so to speak.

Where will your new logo be used?
Real Estate signs, business cards, Web site, flyers and other print media

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
Other realty offices. Their logos are designed to be basic/simple, pretty or cute.

List competitive URLs if possible

What sets you apart from your competitors?
I do not blanket the market with advertising, I prefer the upper end clients.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Solid, Valuable Service

This is a great start, the gold looks great! I think the letters need to be darker to stand out more on a real estate sign - easier to read from down the street. I like the stamped look of the letters and the 3-d effect of the bar. The GOLDEN font color is good too but may need a dark background to stand out more - I suppose I could have the signmaker do that. Off to a good start, thanks!

I'd like to see a design that is a straight on view. Is this possible when going for a 3-d bar shape?

Straight on, as in from above looking straight down? It will lose the depth & seem flat.

How about making the stamped letters black so they stand out more. I realize this will give it less of a stamped look but I need them to stand out more. Can it be flattened a little so the last letters don't get as small? Still liking it, just want to see some more options. Thanks

It might be a little less "cartoonish" if it were more rectangular. Like a gold brick. Or how about making the edges AND the letters black? I just need to see some variations. Thanks again.

Pieter, this is very much along the lines of what I am seeking. Can I see it with all caps? Is it possible to have "Properties" the same size as "Stafford" with LLC smaller? I'd like to see this in both all caps and regular cap (Stafford Properties) if possible. Thank you. Looking good.

here it is..

using all caps is not easy to read in small size (as in business card).. for this particular design..

:)

Pieter, I really like these designs. Is this as big as the graphic gets? I'm going to get some more opinions from my associates tomorrow and will respond again afterward. What formats do you provide for the chosen design? I'd like to get it in as many as possible as I want to be able to use all the advertising media I like. These are great!

Hi.. It can be as big as you want it to be.. I'll provide you the hi-res file.. and the vector..
If selected as a designer to complete this project, I'll try to tweak it.. to see if possible to make it more nice..
:)

Thanks!

-Pieter

ps: btw, we may remove the LLC from the logo.. but we have to put it on the business card or other contact information.. :)

So I can leave the LLC out of some of the logo uses? Nice. I understand these files will be completely editable..? I'll be in touch here tomorrow. Thanks!

Hello.. yes..
on a logo, you can use only the initial, symbol, short version of the name, etc.. I'm sure you know "International Business Machine Corporation".. hmm... IBM ?

Thanks Pieter for the info. I'd like to drop the LLC from the logo altogether. This is better use of the inscribed surface. Can I see how that would look on the designs? Ian, I like the stamp effect you have provided I just don't think the gold on gold stands out enough, can you darken the letters more?

These are some great designs! My associates agree but we haven't been able to select a clear winner yet. Still waiting on Pieter to submit his design sans "LLC". All the work is appreciated and gives me peace of mind that I'll have picked from the best possible designs.

Hi.. Here is the logo without LLC and without slogan.. I think you might want to see it as well.. I tweaked the logo a bit on the CMYK version.. but kept the straight-line style to make it not "cartoony".. I don't want people have a wrong impression to the company... also the non-caps to make it looks warm/welcoming..

Thanks!

Please remove the "sparkles" from the gold bar. A marketing consultant suggested using a font that grabs the attention more, do you have something I can try on for size?

bogglins
11-25-2008, 08:37 PM
Yes.. I can remove the "sparkles" from the bar...

So, you want to change the font size?..
or style?..
All-CAPS?

I'm looking at 3a and 2b. Can 2b be any bigger (taller)?

danstaf
11-26-2008, 12:16 PM
Now I'm liking 4a as it is the easiest to read from across my living room. Still deciding.
