Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo? The Wine Room

What type of product or service do you offer?
We sale wine, gourmet foods, wine accessories and offer wine and gourmet food tasting.

How long have you been in business?
9 years but we added wine to our store 4 years ago, renting space for wine sales to another store. We took over the wine shop a year ago January. We're now expanding the wine and gourmet stuff and separating it from our gift shop and giving it it's own name, The Wine Room. We're also adding seating and making more of a "lounge" as well as a wine store. We've also promoted it as La Stanza di Vino which is The Wine Room in Italian but we're thinking we should stick with The Wine Room.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
We hope to promote a fun place for people to come and shope for wine, taste new wines and meet their friends. Not snobbish but inviting. Some people are intimidated when it comes to wine tasting.

What are your long term goals?
Our long term goals would be to become a destination that people would travel to and that our locals would bring their out of town guests (like they do our gift shop) as well as meet their friends at on a regular basis.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
By December 15th. I will be attending the Fancy Food Show in January and will need my logo done by then.

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience.
Really, we have a wide range of customers. Middle to upper but since we carry a wide range of price points we appeal to the affluent as well as the no so affluent. Gosh, I hate how that sounds but can't come up with another way to say it.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Since my other businesses, located in the same building are an art glass business and an art gallery/gift shop I'd like something creative. I'd like something flowing, not clip art looking, if that makes sense. I honestly don't have any specific vision for this logo, that's why I'm here....OK, after some searching and thought, I like the idea of drops of wine incorporated but I'm not committed to it.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
My art gallery/gift store uses copper on chocolate and our customers like it alot...if I could incorporate those colors that would be great but I'm not sure how that will play out with a wine logo, so I'm pretty open.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
Well, I guess the typical would be a wine glass, wine bottle, grapes, I like the drops of wine or spilled wine maybe......be creative.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Fun, Trendy, Stylish, friendly

What is your tagline or slogan?
Yikes, I need a tagline don't I......any suggestions? One of my favorite quotes is "Wine maketh glad the heart of man, and it maketh woman giggle" but it's been taken...

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
That wine tasting is fun and is not just for wine snobs, and there's no right or wrong to what you like and don't. That The Wine Room is a place to come taste wine, gourmet food and spend time with your friends....social.

Where will your new logo be used?
The logo will be used on a large sign for outside of the building, on the door, on our tasting wine glasses, website, bags, aprons and all the other typical places.

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
There's no other wine shops in my town but there are a couple in the town next to us and one logo that stands out is they've used a ring that looks like a ring left on the table from a glass of wine. On our wine notes paper we use spots of dripped wine...so I guess I like the idea of drops of wine to be in the logo????

List competitive URLs if possible
www.vino100chico.com this other one only has a myspace http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=163795624

What sets you apart from your competitors?
Our customers always tell us what a great feeling our stores have. Our staff is fun and friendly and our customer service, frequent buyer rewards programs, complimentary signature gift bags and attention to detail and creative display puts us a notch above our competitors.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
artful living is the slogan for our art gallery/gift store.....so I guess, artful living.

Yeah! Thanks for taking the time, I was worried no one was interested.

LutFi, good start but too restrained all around. I'd like something with a more free and flowing feeling. A drop or three of wine that looks like a drop, maybe even some splatter.

Thank you!

Thanks Deanna, I'm liking that...I'm thinking that the brown may not be able to play out in this logo....or maybe if the leaves were green.

What would the square background look like in one big wine spill?

Thank you for jumping in.....I know I'm not offering a lot of money, I wish it could be more but our town was the town that was on fire for two months back in June/July and we almost lost our town. We lost two months of business and I wish I could offer more, so appreciate all the designers efforts.

Deanna, version 4 feels too much like a blob then a spot of dripped wine and maybe a different font.

Tini1 I like version one....not what I expected to like...maybe it's the wavy edges on the circle, more like a drop....just an fyi, it's La Stanza di Vino.

Maybe the inside edges need to bleed. I like some softer edges.

tini1

I roughed up the inside of the circle....
opps, di vino, I automatically corrected the grammar....(I type in italian on reg basis so my fingers take over)....

Yikes, when I translated The Wine Room online, that was the translation....so it's wrong?

I've spilled some wine for ya'll....as soon as it's dry I'll scan it and give you an idea of what I'm thinking.

I tried to make the circle frame look like a wine glass stain:)......show us your spilled wine:)

del vino is correct;) (vino is masculine, so its article is il, preposition del....)

Deanna, I like the direction of 5 and 6. I think the spilled wine is the fun feeling I'm trying to convey. This concept may be a bit to structured for me but you're on the right path.

Glyphica, thanks for joining in, I like the fonts but that wine splat comes off a bit CSI LOL! Could we use some of the softer drops and what about the Wine Room over the top????

Thank you designers...I'm really confident I'm going to come out of this with an awesome logo!

I'm back. I thought that I had posted some change requests before leaving but I must have gotten busy at the store and not hit post reply. Anyway...

Deanna, I'm really liking Versions 8 & 9. For Version 9 what do you think of taking the wine glass from Version one and putting the "i" back in and pour the wine glass with drops for the dotting of the "i". Another thought was to soften the splash and straighten the wine pouring...I think I'd like a different font.

For Version 8, could you soften the drops of wine?

tini1, I like the direction of Version 6. Could you separate the wine and room, in the black and white version it looks like winer room! LOL Also, could you remove the leaf, it points the eye out of the logo. I also like the wine bottle with the two glasses.

LutFi, I'm looking at Version 4, I like the leaf on the end of the "e". I like the splashes of wine, not too violent but maybe it's because we were at Disneyland but it's a little Mickey Mouse ears looking. I'm also liking Version 5.

Sorry I didn't get these ideas posted earlier.

Thank you for jumping in Dewa Jaya. Sorry I haven't commented, my stores are busy! I'll try to comment after looking over all the designs in the morning and I'll pick a designer.

Thank you, you all are so talented!

I'm sorry for the inattention. My stores are busy and then we got SNOW! We're in CA, so that just shuts the town down......but I'm scrambling to shake the stores up for when they all come out from the warmth of their fireplaces and realize that Christmas is about a week away.

I'm rewarding the job to Deanna. There is so much talent here that every design has wowed me. That's made it more difficult but I think Deanna and I can finalize a design together and I appreciate her efforts.

I'm appreciative of all the time everyone has put in and I thank you all.

Ummmm, is there something else I'm supposed to do? I awarded the designer yesterday and would like to move forward with Deanna but this hasn't been moved.

Do we wait until it's moved? Believe me I know it's busy this time of year so if that's why it's still here, that's OK but I'm wondering if I'm supposed to do something more.

Thanks

Thanks Deanna. I'm going to go with the glass and bottle, Version 12B with the coloring you used in 12A. I'd like to have the bottle dropped down a bit. I don't know if it needs to be moved down more or if it's in the tilt but it feels too far out of the design for me. Also, the two drops over the wine glass, could you offset them a bit, so they're not in a line? Another thought was to swoosh the wine in the glass. Thanks for your patience with me, I'm really excited about this design.

Thanks Deanna! Change the wine in the glass back to the way you had it and we'll call it done.

I'm going to ask you to suggest the file types I'll need....I'll be using this on wine glasses, I think they needed eps, on aprons, business cards, our outdoor sign, on our door, website....I do want one without a background for our website.

Thanks so much, I love this design.
