(Admin code added by Palmer - 9BH2163560673170E)
Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Website Creation Workshop
If you want to add the word 'The' as in
"The Website Creation Workshop" you can, but
make the 'The' small. It's up to you to add as a design
element if you choose.
What type of product or service do you offer?
This is an online workshop to teach people how to create their websites using the Wordpress.org software
How long have you been in business? 4 years
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity? We currently have an online presence as "The Shopping Cart Queen"
see our style here:
http://www.ShoppingCartQueen.com (http://www.ShoppingCartQueen.com)
but we need a new logo, because this new training/workshop
is not shopping cart oriented
We like a flat, clean look.
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer? ASAP, December 15th ish
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience.
Our audience is non techie business owners who need an online presence. Usually baby boomers. Mostly people in their 30s - 60s
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like? We would like it to look
good on a blog, as that is what we teach. So a web 2.0 look would be good, yet still make sense (i.e. be complimentary to the look we have established at
http://www.shoppingCartQueen.com (http://www.shoppingCartQueen.com)
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
No. Use your creativity.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
Yes! Since the "Website Creation Workshop" is teaching Wordpress, we want the Wordpress image somehow incorporated into it. It can be obvious or subtle. Your choice.
Here are the links to get that logo I want this black and
white version:
http://s.wordpress.org/about/images/logos/wplogo-notext-cmyk.pdf (http://s.wordpress.org/about/images/logos/wplogo-notext-cmyk.pdf)
here are all the logos from the wordpress site
http://wordpress.org/about/logos/ (http://wordpress.org/about/logos/)
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business? web 2.0 and something that would apeal to business owners and baby boomers.
What is your tagline or slogan? we don't have one
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience? "You don't have to hire a webmaster to get your website online. You can do it yourself with my help. I'll teach you how to take control of your business without being a technical person.
I will hold your hand and coach you through the setting up of your wordpress website. "
Note that this is NOT specifically teaching blogs, but instead teaching people how to build their website with Wordpress
The course is taught online
Where will your new logo be used? Online
I need to have the original source files when done. i.e. the photoshop .psd file and any other source files i.e. .eps
I need the photoshop file in separate layers
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos? We are not looking at competitors.
List competitive URLs if possible I have none
What sets you apart from your competitors? We do more handholding and speak in a non techie manner that makes it easy to learn and understand
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company: Non Techie
Later we will have more work for the artist to make us banners and other graphics based on this logo.

Hi,
I'm new to design outpost.
Am I supposed to comment on each design as it comes in?
or am i supposed to comment on a design after many have come in.
please let me know how to proceed
thanks
nutscreative
12-10-2008, 11:37 AM
Hi, either way is ok, you could comment on one design so designer can keep developing the logo or you could wait for other entries and reply all together so you don't have to go back and forth one at a time, really depends on your personal preference.:)

I think I like the 'Website' but the 'creation workshop' needs to be more creative. more color. more like a classroom feeling
the Website I like the 3d look, but I don't like that color
I like it more like the colors of wordpress.org NOT wordpress.com
So the 'W' in 'Website' should not be that blue
thanks!

I like the direction of #5
I want the feeling of grade school or kindergarden
College is not the right feeling.
Also, the Wordpress 'W' logo is not working at all.
So scratch that and do NOT use that 'W'
so you now have free reign to create a logo that has a fun
school feeling.
I want the people in this workshop to feel like they are back
in kindergarden having fun learning
this is for adults, but I want a fun mood
thanks,
Christina

I also like #8 too
again, drop the Wordpress 'W' logo
and come up with some other way to say
'Website'
thanks again

I like the fun feeling of #12 because it has a hand drawn look. I don't like the type treatment of the 'website' in #12.
The designs from OffBeat Design look very professional and clean (I like that) can OffBeat Design do up a treatment similar to NutsDesign in #12?
I want a feeling of fun, and although #14 and #15 give that school feeling, it does not give a 'fun' feeling of school.
#17 reminds me of the PBS logo for the TV station, so that is not it
thanks
OffbeatDesign
12-17-2008, 07:19 AM
Thanks. Designers cannot borrow elements from other designer's, so I won't be able to create a design similar to #12.

I like the chalkboard look of #25 but the word 'Website' should be inside the chalkboard.
I also don't like the all upper case. Hard to read.
I love the look of #22 but that makes it feel like a writers workshop.
But the font is good, and the upper and lower work well.
Combine #22 and #25

to NutsCreative.
going back to design #8 that had the mouse in it.
Can you change the 'Website' in it to get rid of the
'W' that uses the wordpress logo, but use the upper case
and smaller upper case that wordpress uses at
http://www.wordpress.org
I also like #32 that you did.
Danforth
12-17-2008, 12:23 PM
My colleagues like #8 (except without the wordpress 'w' logo) and #13, and #21
#13 is the most professional looking, but dosen't quite convey 'fun'

To Nuts Creative,
I liked the size and the font of the 'Creation Workshop', and the size and treatment of the mouse in #8
But I like what you did with word 'Website' in #42
However, in #42 the words 'creation workshop' got too small.
I know that you were lining it up with the size of the 'ebsite'
but it's too small.
Can you take the 'Creation Workshop' and Mouse of #8 and combine it with the 'Website' of #42?
Also, did you try making the 'S' in Website a bigger 'S' like the 'W' ?
to see how that looks?
I don't like the multi colored 'Creative Workshop' because it becomes too hard to read.
Also, I'm not sure at what point do we talk about colors?
I think that I'm supposed to pick a design first, and then change colors.
I only ask because the yellow in 'Creative Workshop' I'm not crazy about. I tend to like a red of #cc0000
And the Blue in Website I don't like.
But perhaps for now we stick with the same colors so that it's easier to compare to what you did, and to focus on the design elements.
Thanks so much for your hard work on this.

Danforth
12-18-2008, 09:36 AM
to nutscreative,
#48 is good, can you make a new one with the 'S' back down the same size as the 'ite'?
I need to see it without the 'S' big so I can compare #48 with a new #49

to nutscreative #50 is it!
Now can you change the colors?
Try the purple in my website for the 'creation workshop' it's hex #95019F
and try the grey color from wordpress.org it's hex #464646 for the word 'Website'
how does it work now that i've picked a design, what happens next?

Hi, please see revised. Do you also need a pantone colour or the logo just for web use? Thanks.
Danforth
12-18-2008, 12:24 PM
Nutscreative,
I was in a meeting and could not respond sooner.
I'm not sure what a pantone color is. At this point I'm only using it for the web, but I'm not sure what I'll do in the future, so if it's easy to do, yes include that when you give me all the photoshop files (with layers intact)
#56 is missing that 3d extra highlight glow that the mouse has in #50 I like the 3d look it gives it.
I have other color combinations I'd like to try, but I don't know the process of doing this.
I'd like to see 'creation workshop' in this color red #cc0000
but I'm not sure if you should do that, or just give me the photoshop files so that I can change the colors myself.
I have photoshop CS2 and can use it, but I'm not a designer.
so that's why it's important for me to have the original photoshop files so that I can make color changes, and move the elements
around if I need to.
Have you set up the photoshop file so that I can change the colors of the elements easily?
I also may want to turn off the mirror effect, but I want it in the file so that I can just hide that or not.
thanks,
Christina

Hi Christina, Please see revised attached. Its ok if you like to try out any colour until you are completely happy with the final logo, i need about an hour to set up everything in Photoshop cos i am using Illustrator now to create that vector format logo. Let me know if you are ok with the attached revision and i will begin to do the set up in Photoshop. Thanks.
Danforth
12-18-2008, 01:37 PM
ok. the mouse is a little too washed out with that glow on it, take down that glow a bit.
Also, can you try this logo in reverse?
i.e. the words 'Website' in white, and the purple and red the same, with the background that dark grey?
then the mouse would be in white too.
I do like the red, but I also like the purple.

I like the purple one in #58 with the floor reflection, but I like the mouse of that in #60 (it has a better glow on it)
I do like the red, but since I'm not 100% sure of the colors, let's go with the purple.
the reverse type is good, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed different versions or not.
I do want the illustrator and photoshop files. Please label the layers well in photoshop so that I can go in and change the colors later.
yes, I was sick for 2 weeks, and then had family stuff.
i'm off to an appointment but will check back with you later on today
