[Project Complete] Need ASAP: $300: logo for videographer\photographer

We are needing a totally new logo. We have a bridal fair fast approaching in January and need a bit of a face lift. We had someone set up to design our logo, but they simply were running out of time.
My husband and I work together. He mainly handles the video end and I handle the photography. We primarily do weddings right now but are hoping to dive off into seniors and more portraits next year.
We are looking for something clean and modern but not too plain. The name of our business is VI West Studios. Our biggest obstacle is the "VI". Its a roman numeral for six, but people want to pronounce it "vi". We probably want the main colors to be black and/or grey but are not ruling out color by any means. Our original logo below is pretty dated and old. Then I through something together which you will see on our site. Looking forward to some fresh ideas. Thanks!

I like the simplicity of the font in #2 but not really digging the image above....a little too plain. Looking at #2....would you know what it says without somone telling you? People just don't get the roman numeral but i really like it simpler how you have it. I don't really care for the VI in #3. Thanks!

Thanks offbeat design for the response! We've tried the route with the circle around the VI and we never get anywhere. I think we want something different. The clock idea is a really neat idea, but i don't think it fits us. Thanks!

Here are some examples we like. I think also we are looking for some part of the logo that can be used as a watermark or stamp to identify our products. You can see its done in a few of these examples. Maybe it would only say "VI West".....the watermark that is.

Carol - We have actually played with the idea of having a 6 somewhere in the logo. I like your idea...maybe its headed in the right direction but not there yet.

Although, we do offer video.....I don't think we really want any filmstrips or such in the actual logo. More clean and modern lines. We are using metal cases now for our dvds and cds. We want something a little more sleek to go along with this new look. Thanks everyone!

offbeat - i like version 5 better....i still think its a little plain but maybe has potential. I didn't get the "west" triangle at first.......I would probably want to leave it off. Its definitely creative. Thanks again for your input!

offbeat - your not giving up! thanks! version 9 might have some potential but its still lacking something. Version 10 and 11 aren't working for us

dragonb - i still think it resembles our old logo too much

nutscreative - this definitely has potential. I'm not sure where to tell you to go with it. Its still needs something. I do really like the leading on studios.....maybe if it were in all caps.

fabian - not quite the style we are looking for

carol - can we try not connecting the VI and maybe a slightly different font....it appears to be a little tall. My favorite element is the way you have studios. I think that will definitely be a part of our finished product.

Yes, that's my point.... the "V" still in roman but the "I" change in digit 1 but still in meaning VI but look and sound like "vi"

nutscreative - definitely a more modern look....i like the font....the cameras are a rather neat concept. I'm not sold on it but i keep coming back to it. Sorry, but i'm not really into version 8 and 9

glyphica - i think we are really close! I like all 3! i really like the way version 1 is vertical ( it would work with our website well) but i like #2 too. what if we try version 2 with the VI turned right side up although I really like it turned.....i'm afraid people will be confused more than they already are...or maybe try the VI in parenthesis like version 1. I like the camera too in #3, but think we might want to leave it off.

Stephanie, I guess one of the reasons I'm considering the 1st one is the (VI) might could be used as a watermark for my pictures. That is one thing we are trying to achieve with this new logo. Any thoughts or suggestions?
