Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Lorraine Daley
Wedding Photography

What type of product or service do you offer?
Wedding Photography

How long have you been in business?
5 years

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Attract sophisticate, high-end brides who want to work with a photojournalistic/artistic wedding photographer.

What are your long term goals?
More clients, higher end markets.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
January 5, 2009

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
Mid-level budget brides...artsy. Those that are photographers, graphic designers themselves.

Who would you like to add to your audience? More high end brides.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
"Lorraine Daley" should be large,
"Wedding Photography" should be small underneath the name

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
I like rich reds or cranberry reds and would like this to be the primary color. I want to warm family of colors because I think it translates well with weddings...and I think the blue family is a little overused in Wedding photographers work.
I adore these colors (red purple orange tan):
http://thestantonsocial.com/
I would like red to be the main color of the logo. I will be redesigning my website in the next couple months, but the warm tan of their logo will be the background colors for my site. I also adore their whole look, but I think the cherry blossom is a little overused.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
I would like the logo to not be too busy and not too many colors (maybe 2 at most?). Clean and minimalistic is my aesthetic style.

I absolutely love this symbol of the gordian knot:
http://www.ka-gold-jewelry.com/image...-knot-big5.jpg (http://www.ka-gold-jewelry.com/images/products-800/gordian-knot-big/gordian-knot-big5.jpg)

Any other sacred geometry shapes as well.
I like the idea of it looking like a flower, but not over the top feminine.
I also love Celtic knots that are not too complex, like the last one in this series:
http://69.90.174.249/photos/display_...45836834,2.jpg (http://69.90.174.249/photos/display_pic_with_logo/56864/56864,1145836834,2.jpg)

I love pracus' and giant's work here:
http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/...ad.php?t=18046 (http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18046)
Definitely similar to what I am going for.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Beauty, classic, yet modern.
Please no hearts, or rings or cameras or any other obvious reference to photography or weddings.

What is your tagline or slogan?
Don't have one yet, but I like another photographers, which is "contemporaty elegance with an edge".

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
Beautiful, classy, timeless photography, yet modern and professional. Also my personality if fun and outgoing.

Where will your new logo be used?
collateral, website

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos? Do not like any local market competitors logos.

List competitive URLs if possible
http://www.novakphotography.com/
http://www.mikekphoto.com/
http://www.ryanestes.com/
http://www.cmphotography.com/

What sets you apart from your competitors?
I am a little more creative...less traditional wedding photography.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Creatively marrying art and photojournalism.

I really like the direction you are going here. Great work so far.
I love the font in #2. The symbol is a little too busy for me.
If "Wedding Photography" could be a little bigger that would be great. I also think that the words Wedding Photographer could be a dark tan, as opposed to gray. And I like the words Wedding Photographer centered under Lorraine Daley, as opposed to right justified.

I like the symbol in #3, but I think it is just a bit too busy....very good though.
Great work already. I'd like to see a little more.

#4 seems a bit scientific lab to me.

I absolutely love the symbol in 7. The wording should be Lorraine Daley and then Wedding Photography though. Don't like the font much though. Also don't think I want all lower case (may use that for my other brand). I like fonts that are even the lower case look upper case, but smaller.

#8 is not the direction I want to go in...a little too obvious/fem.

Really great start though!!!!

10 and 11 are a little too literal. i guess a bit of an interpretation off of this is what I am looking for. The symbol in 12 is the flower of life....which i love the symbol, but it is actually too sacred to be used in my branding. I wouldn't want to offend anyone.
More of an creative interpretation of these symbols is what i am going for.
Thanks so much thus far.

v1 and v2 allude to the Gordian knot you referenced

BlueCherryGraphics

v2 Gordian knot + "ld"

14& 15 are too "loose" in style. I prefer the structured look of the symbols much more.
Thanks for your first efforts.

V3 more structured

#15...I like the direction, though I think the symbol is a little too busy. Don't want to draw too much attention away from the name of the business.

# 18...I love love love it.

#19 Don't like the font.

#20 I like it alot. Not sure if it reminds me too much of a pinwheel though?

#21 I like the second one, but think it is a bit too busy.

#22 I adore the second one. the combo of the gold is gorgeous.

Could we also try #18 and #22 with Wedding Photography as long as Lorraine Daley and put the same symbol a little smaller to the left of it?

Everyone is doing a fabulous job. I am really impressed.
Thanks so much.

#25- #28...I like very much., but i think the last three are missing something? something in the middle? #25 is such a direct reference to the flower of life, i think it might be offensive to someone.

Hi Glyphica,
Just a couple little revisions.
Do you think you could change the text color of wedding photography to hex# 8c6239? Also, could you make the flower the height of the text?
Also, the Lorraine Daley looks pink...could you make sure it is the same red as the darkest part of the flower?

I need the files as an eps, a tiff and if you have a layered psd that would be great.
Thanks so much once again,
Lorraine

How's this? :)

lorrainedaley

Do you think you could pull the wedding photography up a couple pixels...it looks kind of far from the name.
Also, i think the symbol looks too small this way...it also does not seem balanced. Maybe make it a little bigger and have it come a few pixels above the top of the text in the name.
almost there!

glyphica
12-31-2008, 06:39 PM
sure, no problem :) I was kinda thinking it looked a little unbalanced with the flower that small... but I thought I would let you decide  I think it looks good now, what do you think? ;)
