Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Bliss Photography

What type of product or service do you offer?
Modern photography for children, families, weddings.

How long have you been in business?
1.5 yrs

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
a strong sense of brand, freshness and professionalism.

What are your long term goals? A focus on weddings, and grow a resilient yet dynamic business.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer? Jan 02, 2009.

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience Many moms of all ages looking for family pictures, and young brides.

Who would you like to add to your audience? Higher end brides and higher end/high profile families in general.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like? words and "emblem" that I can use for watermarking and other marketing materials. Also something that is flexible for web and print. I currently have a few logos that are varied in color and words. Here is an example:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee186/lovemyjillian/Newlogofullv3-1.jpghttp://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee186/lovemyjillian/Newlogofullwed-1.jpg

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?) Open to most anything. I somehow gravitate towards grey and browns. And I think they're flattering for images in general. Not afraid of color!

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?

I'd love a mix of fonts, maybe the "B" being handwritten and the rest simple (ie. century gothic).

I'd love to see something that projects motion, whether it be scrolling font or an object moving (ie. blowing in the wind). I also love the "cluster" look. A few objects that reflect my personality would be a blowing dandelion, foliage, flowers or scrollwork. Here are a few images that jumped out at me.

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee186/lovemyjillian/17849212283370631.jpg
I love the simplicity of these logos.

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee186/lovemyjillian/Logo.jpg
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business? modern, fun, mixed with a little funky.

What is your tagline or slogan? "Modern photography for modern clients". or www.blissbymishelle.com

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience? I'm an unique photographer offering the full experience of portrait and wedding photography.

Where will your new logo be used? web & print.

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos? Some are a little too traditional for me.

List competitive URLs if possible

What sets you apart from your competitors? Hopefully, a strong brand.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company: modern photography for modern clients

Here is my most current work (blog) and website:

Giant, this is nice! I really like that the "B" is singled out and I really like the red and brown together, but would love to see a little more splash of color.

Hi, version 2.:)

bliss.bliss
12-18-2008, 04:14 PM
Thank you for the designs!

Giant - yes, on the right track. Could we try to "wrap" that emblem around the wording? Also, maybe a third color?

Glyphica - I'm not a big fan of that type of cherry blossom, a little too long for logo. How about a single blossom? And what I do love is your "G"!! I love that cluster lettering.

Nuts - version 1: love these colors. I like that it does convey movement, I don't care too much for the font, however. Version 2: still unsure. Need to sit on it a bit longer.

Thank you.

These are all great. I do love the dandelion. Is there someone willing to play with a little script or script font as well?

Offbeat - I really like this concept, and do have many kids, familes in my clientele. I really like the long font. Can we try to move the windmill over the "i" and try a scriptive font? Is it possible to see both the windmill and the dandelion design contained in a box? Does that make sense?

Giant - I think I prefer it back at the top. Maybe a little "thinner" design and font for Bliss?

Just a few ideas. Thank you!

Offbeat - Thank you so much! I just realized you were in A2...hello. I'm in Taylor, and snowed in today.

Would it be possible to see Version 2 inside Version 7 or 8? And I love the pop of the windmill colors. Can we switch the purple for a blue/gray or the orange to a muted grey brown? I'm still looking for a scroll "B", just to add a little whimsy to such a short, simple word.

In regards to the windmill, I'm not sure it translates for brides. Is there something more abstract/mature? Thanks so much.

Hmm... I thought Version 9 might be too busy for me. I don't care for version 10, sorry.

I'm trying to merger Version 2 and 8 in my head. What appeals to me are the multiple colors, caps font, an emblem and again the dandelion.
and the long font. Is there a font that I could see "handwritten" for either the two s's or the b?

These are fantastic, though and I feel we're on the same page.

Still open to any new concepts with Bliss. I like the motion of the dandelion, but I also notice that it is commonly used. Perhaps a lotus or abstract lotus design? It certainly translates bliss and will cover families, kids and brides. (And incorporates my love of Yoga) and would make a nice emblem, clean, bold. It would also be able to include a variety of color in the petals. Again, just a few thoughts on this journey to a new logo. Here are a few examples that appealed to me. Thank you!

Ok, I'm back. I think I had to catch my breath. I like Version 2. A few possible revisions...

Remove the halos. Personally, I like them but don't care for the extra height. I love the words together. Can we bold "photo" instead of bliss? And add tagline "modern Photography for modern clients." or "www.blissbymishelle.com" at the bottom? Is there a similar font that's modern, clean but different? And lastly, how do we add color? I love to play with different colors in my packaging...pinks and reds for brides, blue for boys, pink for girls, nude for mature clients...

Elements I'd really like to keep is the reflection in full logo. Looks great. I'm still deciding about the lotus/symbol. Wow, thanks!

Hi, thank you for the revision. I love those colors. Can we add a red/pink to either the base or the top of the symbol? and just bold "photo", and capital "M" in modern and period after clients. Thank so much, this looks really great.

I would also like to see what the lotus from Version 1.0 would look like in this design. Thank you!

Hi. Sorry for the delay, I'm just getting home from a long, snowy day here in Michigan. Again, I love your work with these designs! I am really torn between version 2.2 and 1.1. but leaning towards the simpler lotus in 1.1. Can I see the pink switched out for red or another bolder color? I love the grey and brown and definitley want to keep those, but still looking for a pop or variety of color. Also, can we go back to the century gothic and put the word "photo" in that same red or other color? I don't really care for the bold, and it doesn't balance out for me. Any other ideas with this design and play on fonts would be wonderful. This concept feels right to me, and I really appreciate your time and creativity.

Also came across this where I like the pop of color and like this font. Not sure what it is, though.

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee186/lovemyjillian/1234.jpg

And again, would like to try a label or contained/type logo. Even if the slogan needs to drop off. Something similar to this.

Thank you kindly.

Good morning, yes, I really like version 1.4. It is bold, is flexible for branding and is well balanced. I would like to see a few variations on it still, however. Can we try Bliss is all lower case, keeping photography in caps? I'd also like to play with a few color pallates. I like these, but they're just not popping off the page. Can I see what it would look like with the lotus outlined in white or add sme inside layers (as seen in Version 1.0)? Does that make sense?

I've included a few ideas for color pallates that appeal to me below:

I like how the lower left butterfly is layers of color.

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee186/lovemyjillian/18348712241853307.jpg

You can see here that most are a blend of a good neutral with splashes of poppy, bright colors.

I think I would like that, but with brighter and bolder colors. The red just doesn't show up that well against the background color. Also, I would like to still see bliss in a century gothic-type font similar to what we had before. It's close, though. I was hoping for a few variations of color pallates and font to review. Before making final decisions. Can we use the colors in ex. 1 from my last post? (Shutterstock 10002547) Thank you!

Thank you, Tini..that is definitely finding bliss =)

Yes, I like this! It is much more bold, I like the outlines. I'd love to finalize this design with you. It's great! Just a few more details, though if possible. I guess I am pickier than I thought with my color selection. But I am in the process of launching a second website, and want to make sure that I have the flexibility and look that I need.

I work in Photoshop... forgive the quickness. A graphic designer I am not =) Can we try something like this?

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee186/lovemyjillian/LogoRev2008.jpg

Also with the font, I am still unsure. Can we try something else?

Also, I really liked the reflection we had before. Not sure how it will look with the revisions, but would love to take a look again. Thank you, and I look forward to seeing the next revision, and finalizing a design.

Hello again. I've been looking over these again, and ran them past another set of eyes as well. I'm going to go with Version 1.4. Exactly how it is, (with reflection and no outlines on the petals) but with Bliss in all lower case (can we scale it smaller?)

I know I've gone back and forth with colors, but just trying to get what feels right. I appreciate your patience. And it's so tough to visualize the colors I have in my head, but I think I need to simplify here.

In Version 1.4 can we try...
Bliss in lower case, white or cream, in Honeyscript.
Background in Hex 6E6653 (Pantone 154-1-4 C)
I like the colors of the two other petals. and the base in one of these two neutrals.
Top Petal and design border in Hex A90075 (Pantone 38-1-6 C) OR cream with a Hex A90075 dot in the middle of the lotus.

Here are a few recent examples of my work and colors that inspire me in regards to color.

They look great! I absolutely love this. I didn't know how to translate the colors for you, again, I work in Photoshop.

I am having a tough time seeing the word photography, however. Can we get that a larger even for the sake of scaling down the word bliss a bit. And can we move that b in a little closer to the l? It's sort of standing out there on it's own.

The background color is absolutely perfect! The Lotus is perfect! I love what you did with the middle color and how you incorporated it. I would like the cream to be two shades lighter, so it stands out a little bit more.

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee186/lovemyjillian/blissrev7copy.jpg

I am so happy with this design, it is so me, it is so bliss. In the last stages of design, I do have a few questions? Will I receive all three versions as shown above? Again, I will be using this logo for print as well as web, and want to assure ease of use. My website logo is sized 100 x 80. Strange size, I know, but I don't think I'll have a problem with this size, I just wanted to make sure the resolution will work. One key use is for watermarking my work on my blog and for clients who use their images on Myspace, Facebook, etc. I'd prefer to use a full color version, but would like the background to be transparent (no white line between the outer purple edge and the grey block). Sorry, that's hard to explain. Is that possible? Previously, I had a logo designed, and it was only available on white, so when I wanted to switch the background color of my website, i couldn't put it on black or any other color. Is there a way I can avoid that as well? Thanks.

Also, is it possible to commission you in the future for additional work with this concept? (business card design, web elements, etc?)

Are you feeling the bliss!? :) I will work those revisions and have to you by tomorrow, sooner if possible.
