We need a fun and catchy logo for a restaurant meal delivery business. We are looking for something light yet sophisticated, and easily relatable to the nature of the business as well as to the name of our business, MrFork.com (or MisterFork.com), which by itself is meant to bring on a smile and a dose of good mood. The Company will serve residential as well as commercial customers of all ages and income levels. Some delivery orders will be placed through the Company’s internet website, while others may be place by phone. The Company’s main selling points are: convenient and quick home/office delivery, user-friendly website, single-point access to multiple restaurants and catering services.
<o:p> </o:p>
Brand Name:<o:p></o:p>
MrFork.com -- The logo should use the text Mr. Fork not MisterFork.
<o:p> </o:p>
Preferences:
<o:p></o:p>-- Although we are not looking to necessarily match the color palette, please see the attached sample of the Company’s website for reference<o:p></o:p>
-- Light-mooded yet not childish logo that would include the brand name and may be used as a standalone company identifier
-- Something related to the services that the business provides; meaning some reference to the "delivery" aspect

-- A logo that would appeal to a broad scope of people of various ages, means, interests, food tastes<!--[endif]-->
<!--[if !supportLists]-->-- A logo that would also be recognizable and legible in smaller size, so that it can also be used in headers or footers of various documents
-- A logo that would be memorable and attractive at first glance

Welcome,
Please highlight these questions http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7819 and then paste them into a new message in your project along with your answers. This will help the Designers better serve your project. Thank you

DUE DATE: Jan 10, 2009
Please refer to the first message of this project for summary information.

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
The company’s brand name: MrFork.com

What type of product or service do you offer?
The Company offers home and office meal delivery services from a variety of local restaurants. MrFork.com also offers advertising services to its partner restaurants through the Company’s website and/or print publications.

MrFork.com itself will not prepare the meals; but rather will present existing restaurants and catering services on its website and through various forms of advertising. Delivery orders may be placed through the Company’s internet website or by phone. The main selling points are: convenient and quick home/office delivery, user-friendly website, single-point access to multiple restaurants and catering services.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Appeal to a wide audience of customers as well as restaurants that would use the service.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
January 10, 2009

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience.
The Company will serve residential as well as commercial customers of all ages, income levels, and food preferences. However, the logo must also appeal to the restaurants that would choose MrFork.com as its meal delivery service, as well as request to be advertised on the company’s website and/or in its print publications.

Who would you like to add to your audience?
The goal is to appeal to a wide range of ultimate customers (diners) as well as restaurants.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
• We are looking for something light yet sophisticated, and easily relatable to the name of our business MrFork.com and its services
• Light-mooded yet not childish logo that would include the brand name and may be used as a standalone company identifier
• A logo that would appeal to a broad scope of people of various ages, means, interests, food tastes
• A logo that would also be recognizable and legible in smaller size, so that it can also be used in headers or footers of various documents
• A logo that would be memorable and attractive at first glance
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (If so, why?)
Although, we are not looking to necessarily match the color palette, please see the attached sample of the Company’s website for reference. The colors should be “warm” and appropriate for a food-related theme.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
No absolute requirements, although the brand name “Mr. Fork” should be kept in mind.

Also, perhaps something that would convey the “delivery” aspect of the Company’s services: e.g. wheels, cars, running chefs, something that would convey motion. Another thought we had was a picture of a satisfied, friendly and welcoming chef, perhaps in a chef's hat. (these are just examples, and incorporating them is not absolutely necessary)

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
The main selling points are: simple, convenient and quick home/office delivery, user-friendly website, friendly telephone staff, single-point access to multiple restaurants and catering services.

Where will your new logo be used?
All Company advertising and communication, as well as some legal documents. The logo should also be recognizable and legible in smaller size, so that it can also be used in headers or footers of various documents

List competitive URLs if possible

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas! I'm really excited to see the first few submissions and looking forward to see more versions.

glyphica: Thanks for your submission. Version 1 looks a little bit busy with all of those forks. Version 2 looks a bit too simple. I appreciate your efforts but it doesn't quite look like what we had in mind. Would love to see more versions, though.

Mark: This version is closer to what we had in mind, but still isn't there. I think the font looks a bit too "regal" for the feel we're trying to get across. Also, maybe the character might look a bit more like a person.

Thank you again for your submissions. Have a happy new year.

Hi everyone! Thank you very much for your submissions.

Mark, thanks for the second try. It still doesn't quite match the feel we're going for. Would be nice to see variations on this concept.

Relevant, we appreciate your effort, but it doesn't work for us. We'd love to see other concepts from you.

Jennifer, so far, your version 2 is closest to what we had in mind. We would be curious to see a variation based on version 2: how about a chef's face with that hat, looking like he's holding a fork. We would love to see any other concepts you have in mind.

Thanks again for the submissions. Would be great to see more ideas from other designers.

Hope everyone has a great New Year!

Hello. Here's a non-cursive and less detail representation of a fork nor a face of a man. The initial 'M' symbol stands on its own and well-balance that represents food industry.

Looking forward to your comments. Thank you.

LutFi -- Thanks. The first thing I thought of when I saw this was "put a fork in it" which probably isn't the best imagery. Would love to see more.

Rongen -- I really like the creativity in your submission. It's a welcome change from the usual picture of a fork. I don't think this particular version is what we had in mind (we're afraid it may be a bit tough to read, and tough to figure out), but it would be great to see other ideas. Thanks very much for the submission!

To all designers -- try to step out of the "picture of a fork" theme. We're trying to convey a warm, friendly feeling -- something that says "I'm friendly and I'm here to get great food delivered to your home". A picture of a friendly character might work well.

xpressions -- It's an interesting logo. But it doesn't quite have the look we're going for. The fonts don't match our taste, and the chef looks somewhat blocky. Thank you though.

zman -- This is interesting. Can I see it with different fonts?

tini1 -- I'm having trouble understanding the logo here. Somewhat too busy.

giant -- I like this one. Can I see some color and font variations please?

pracus -- Thanks. The character looks lovely -- not sure that that rooster fits a meal delivery service, though. Seems like it would fit better as the cool mascot of a college career guidebook website... Hmm... ;) Would love to see a different mascot that fits us better!

Hi! Thank you for the feedback. Of course, you are the boss here! :)
But, as we may notice, sometimes mascots that are seemingly not connected with the trade give better results - they are better remembered basing on the contrast.
For example McDonald's Clown, Colonel Sanders from KFC or Girl of Morton Salt :)
And the elegant rooster has more to do with restaurants than it seems to at the beggining
But it was just to complete the dialogue between us - as I said - you are the boss.

tini1, looking forward to your new version.

giant, thanks for the variations. Something still doesn't sit right with us. Maybe try removing the gradient in the logo?

zman, still looking forward to the variations.

Rongen, will you be submitting any other versions?

Jennifer, in my last message I wrote what's below. Would really appreciate an update from you:

pracus, can I see that with some sort of blue instead of red font (so it matches better with the website excerpt in the first post)?

Also, can I see the small b/w version blown up in color?

pracus
01-14-2009, 10:24 PM
Hi!

Ooops! I'm sorry but the b/w version was attached by a mistake. Previously I did this in color but according to the Moderators decicion I am not allowed to do it because Steven (expressions) used the chef in letter "O" before me.
So I'm sorry for this situation, I wish I could but have to be honest to my coleague designer. The only think I can do is the color change request.

Take care!

pracus
01-14-2009, 10:32 PM
here it is :)
I believe the blue color is not good because it's cool and the color palette of the rest of logo is warm.
also I think that red color is very good contrast to blue website and it could be used in a creative way :)

sgeisin55
01-15-2009, 05:16 PM
xpressions, thank you I appreciate that.

pracus, good point -- the red does look better. Can I see the "Mr. Fork in O" version blown up in color?

pracus
01-15-2009, 05:56 PM
(note to Moderators: Steven allowed me to use his idea of chef in the "O".
thank you, Steven!)

pracus, we're strongly leaning towards your concept, but we still have some small reservations...

Maybe you can help us out -- here are our constraints:
* We want .com to be in the name, so that customers associate our business with the website
* We want "Mr" to be horizontal so that it's easy to read
* We want the logo to be pretty horizontal so that it can fit well in the header of our webpage
* However, we feel that with the ".com" at the end, and the horizontal "Mr", we aren't highlighting the great character you drew enough

Our thought:
* Enlarge the character and the "o" that he's in, relative to the surrounding letters. Could we see that please?

Any other ideas would be great!

Could we see a variation where the O is even bigger?

Also -- could we see a variation where the character is somehow popping out of the O -- perhaps one arm is out -- something to bring more focus to him. Whatever you think works.

Hi Pracus!

The time has come for us to make our decision!

Can we have #31, #51 and #53 variations? We can't quite choose which one, but we don't want to keep you waiting on payment.

Illustrator or some other vector format works.

Many thanks for your time and great artwork.
