According to:
http://www.learn2type.com/TypingTest

I averaged about 60wpm (on three tests).
I have no idea whether this is average or above.

So...how fast can you type?

32 words per minute and I am sober. I never took a typing class. I never thought I would need it.

This is what it said for me:

Your speed was 130 WPM with 45 mistakes (adjusted speed 85 WPM)

I'm not a fast typer, I'm not a slow typer, I'm a half-fast typer. ;)

Actually, when I think about it, I guess it's actually "typist".

The exercise was
In the space of one hundred and seventy-six years the Mississippi has shortened itself two hundred and forty-two miles. Therefore ... in the Old Silurian Period the Mississippi River was upward of one million three hundred thousand miles long ... seven hundred and forty-two years from now the Mississippi will be only a mile and three-quarters long. There is something fascinating about science. One gets such wholesome returns of conjecture out of such a trifling investment of fact.

I haven't tested myself in years. It looks like my speed is about the same as it was in my secretarial days - I'm surprised. :)

I had a typing teacher in high school that I always got thrown out of her class. She had a metal plate in her head and it was rumored that if heavy electrical devices or multiple PC's being booted that she got super headaches. So I convinced all my friends to reboot at the same time as me a few times while we were supposed to be typing...she didn't find that amusing.

She also smacked my hands with a ruler and hit me in the back of the head too.

Here is a simple experiment that will teach you an important electrical lesson: On a cool, dry day, scuff your feet along a carpet, then reach your hand into a friend's mouth and touch one of his dental fillings. Did you notice how your friend twitched violently and cried out in pain? This teaches us that electricity can be a very powerful force, but we must never use it to hurt others unless we need to learn an important electrical lesson.

But I guess it just depends on what you're typing. You're used to typing certain words more than others, so type those quicker..
