What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Association of Women Funeral Directors

How long have you been in business?
Start up/pre-launch phase
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
To establish ourselves as the "place-to-be" for women in the field. To stand in contrast to the old school NFDA and the state organizations.
What are your long term goals?
To provide women professionals, in a male-dominated field, the resources and information they need to build successful funeral service careers, stay centered in their own values, and practice extreme self-care.
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
February 1, 2009
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
The growing number of women graduating from mortuary science schools, as well as the female leaders already working in the professional arena.
Who would you like to add to your audience?
Those other women in the field: celebrants, embalmers - all women who tend to the dead, and the survivors
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Elegant, feminine, energetic, crisp
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
I'm thinking that I want to leave it up to you. I will say that I would like to use either Golden Essence, or Red Essence WORDPRESS templates, from www.ithemes.com.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
Well, I like ART DECO fonts - they can be very elegant. I was considering an image of a yellow crocusflower (cheerfulness) - or bamboo, for tranquility. But, honestly, I want it only to stand out from the tired logo of the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA.org). Feminine energy. That's the key!
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
The community, the enrichment, the mentoring, the warmth of women coming together.
What is your tagline or slogan?
Don't have one yet - if you can weave one, be my guest!
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
That there's an organization just for them. These women struggle everyday to stand tall in a male-dominated field. I want to provide them with what they need to excel.
Where will your new logo be used?
Website, business cards, etc. I'd like it to become part of the header of the site....
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
Don't have any specific to this niche, except the NFDA, and the state/local funeral director associations.

http://www.ksfda.org/
http://www.mofuneral.org/
List competitive URLs if possible
What sets you apart from your competitors?
We are for women only, so really have no finely-targeted competition.
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Fully supporting women funeral professionals in facing the many professional, personal and often emotional challenges of their profession.
