I'm not sure this topic belongs here but I will try.
First I want to say I spent a whole evening checking the forums here and I am very impressed! Great work!
I have been in the printing business for 35 years and have recently taken on ad specialties as an added offering. The current business name & logo does not represent us well so I am considering changing it.
I changed my logo 3 years ago after 20 years. Now with the name & logo change I am wondering if it is really a smart move. I hear over and over that you should be consistant and the logo is an identitything.
Is it high risk to make another change so soon?

Hello and welcome to DesignOutpost. I don't really think you are at risk by changing your logo after 3 years. You said yourself that your current logo does not represent your business now that you have expanded your services. Do you envision reaching a whole new marketplace of NEW customers with your new products or will this be more of an additional line to your existing customers? Do other quick printers in your area offer this service? Have you thought about setting up the ad specialty business as a seperate line (with a different logo) and saying something like ABC Custom Imprinted Ad Specialties, a division of XYZ Printing or something like that? In any event, I really don't think you have a problem if you decided to change your logo after 3 years...Maybe you could compromise and incorporate the same colors into a new logo..that way it wouldn't be a DRASTIC change. You could send out a postcard telling your customers you've added these new services and felt you needed to update your logo to reflect the fact that the reason you've been around for 35 years is your willingness to adjust to changing times and your ability to offer your customers the latest products. I think you'll be fine..You came to DesignOutpost so that was definitely a step in the right direction. I hope this has helped and if you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to post. We'll help any way we can.
