I have a small, unique gift shop that specializes in fun gifts for women and children. I have been in business for 3 years and I'm looking a for a new logo that I can use on buisiness cards, print ads, a website as well as something that will look great printed on promotional t-shirts, aprons and other items.

Right now, my outdoor sign is fushcia with white letters in the font "boyz r gross". I am willing to stay with the fuschia but would like to see some other options - maybe something with lime green or purple? Or a combo of those colors?

I have many ideas but I can't narrow them down so I have turned here for help. I am hoping I will see something that catches my eye and gets me going in the right direction.

I would like a full color design but also something that will print in black only for some print ads, labels etc.

The name of the shop is Possibilities. My slogan is "Your Neighbourhood Gift Shop" although that doesn't have to be in the logo.

I would love something unique, whimsical, colorful and FUN! Something really eye catching. No plain jane logos or fonts please!

I would LOVE a graphic but for the life of me can't come up with something unique so any ideas are appreciated here. I have thought of some sort of cartoon type animal climbing the "P" but wasn't sure about it.

I do love polka dots but I'm really open to any ideas - as long as they are unique and fun!

Thanks in advance!

A couple websites with "whimsical" fun graphics that I like are www.espe.ca and www.smittenkitten.ca

I also like the logo for www.foxyoriginals.com although it's a little simpler than I am thinking...although simple would be fine if the message came through.

Hello,
This is my idea for your logo design:
The wee dragon is the whimsical creature - she represents "possibility". The polka dots you like, are designs on her skin, and repeated in the bubbles. I thought the dragon blowing bubble rather than fire added to the whimsy.

Your comments are appreciated.

Respectfully submitted,
Kimber

Kimber...your idea has me thinking. I'm not going to ask you to design this but I'm going to throw this idea out there and see what you think...

What about if the dragon was a little cartoon monkey. A little girl with a cute clip in her hair. Something like the monkeys in the designs used by www.espe.ca (http://www.espe.ca) - of course not exactly the same but that kind of idea...

She could still be blowing bubbles and in the same pose. But then in the hand hanging down what about her holding a little gift bag to incorporate the whole shopping idea.

The only thing about this is it might be a little girly...I don't know. If anyone has thoughts about this idea feel free to share.

I don't know what I want yet - I just know I want it to be different and unique and really reflect the personality if my shop.

I sell lots of purses, jewelry, Webkinz, retro candy, gourmet foods and lots of little odds and ends.

I'll keep looking and see if I can offer more feedback. Thanks again!

nutscreative - I have seen some of your other projects. You do great work! I love your design but I think it's too "typical" for me. I want something a little more unique. However, as far as gift logos go - yours is one of the cutest I have seen.

Hi there :)
Thankyou for your feedback. I "monkeyed-around" a bit with my design.
I know I can make her look a little more monkey-ish - but I'd prefer to wait until you make a decision.

Thankyou kindly for your consideration.

#9 - I like the concept but might be a little too plain when done in the black only. Also, although I like the style of the graphic I don't think the flower fits in with my product mix. Maybe too mature?

#10 - I like the style of these graphics. When I said "whimsy" I was kind of thinking this style. Although, still might be a little too simple for me and not reflective of the personality of the shop.

New dragon - I like thi smuch better with the bag...I've been sharing these designs with friends and the feedback is a little mixed. Some LOVE the dragon concept and others think it's too juvenile. I'm still undecided.

I'd LOVE to see any other concept that anyone might have. I wish I could tell you exactly what I wanted but that's why I'm here. I need your HELP!

Thanks again for your designs and your patience. So many talented designers out there!

Keep 'em coming! We'll get there!

Any other ideas out there? I need your help.

What would a cool gift shop called "Possibilities" look like to you? When you think "Possibilities"...what comes to mind?

Sure,
At the bottom of this page, there is a quick reply box. Below that is a "GO ADVANCED" button - when you click that, you'll be taken to a page that has more "options".

On the new page, below the text-box area (under "Additional Options"), there is a button called "MANAGE ATTACHMENTS".

If you click that button, you will be presented with a pop up window, that has a bunch of upload slots.

Just click BROWSE and navigate to your file.
You'll have to use a separate slot for each attachment.
Once all the files are attached, click "UPLOAD", and wait...

Once all the upload(s) complete, you'll be able to see the filenames in the "Additional Options" area under "Attach files".

Click "SUBMIT REPLY", and your post should have links to your files.

I believe that's the way it works...
Hope that helps.

Kimber, when I mentioned monkey I was thinking something like this image on the wallet. I sell this line. Of course I can't copy it but I think IF I decide to go with an animal or "masoct" of sorts something along this line would better reflect the image of my shop.

The "Smitten Kitten" logo I LOVE. This is the "whimsy" I was talking about. Obviously there's a lot of detail and I don't know how to incorporate a long name like Possibilities into something like this...but I just love the "look" and "style".

The Crealy logo os just something I think that looks cool - again not sure how a long name like mine would work for something like this.

The second pic is just abstract designs that I like. I love these types of colors and I like the little flowers etc inside the image.

I also sell the Foxy Originals line. I love their logo. Simple but fun. In their graphics they incorporate large pink circles with this and it goes great.

I think the pintsizediva logo is fun. The image is too juvenile for my shop but I like the idea behind the logo.

I hope these images give more of an idea of what kind of images appeal to me. Thanks again everyone! Lots of great ideas so far!

Kimber,

Any chance you could show me the last dragon with different colors? Maybe a deeper fuschia mixed with a teal or a different green?

Also, maybe a bag that looks a little more like a gift bag?

Even the colors would help for now. I have some people really liking this design so trying to figure out if there's a way to fine tune it a little.

Thanks!

Does anyone have any designs similar to this? It's a poor scan so it's not very clear but I love the "whimsy" of this gift design. The swirls and circles....This is what I was thinking style-wise when I said "whimsy". Thanks again!

Love the colors on this last design! Can you think of anything we could do to make the black/white copy stand out a little more? Due to the design it just doesn't pop the way the colored version does...

Also, might be too busy but what about putting a little graphic like a flower or gift above the font in the middle like the dizzy izzy sample I posted? It might be too much or it might be what the black copy needs...

What do you think?

Thanks Nutscreative!

Any chance you could show me the same image but with the font in different places...like maybe off to the right or maybe with the Possibilities on the top so it's almost a circle?

Also, do you by any chance have the "boyz r gross" font? I like the curly letters but I know it's very common so I'd probably choose a different font. I like the style but I know it's used so much - maybe something similar but different enough so that it stands out from others using that same font...if that makes sense!

Or..do you have a font that's a little thicker? What type of font do you think would work best?

Thanks again!

I would like to see a couple changes to this design.

I would like to take the image from #42. I would like the gift to be the teal color.

However, I would like the font that is used on the pink design.

Also, I would like to centre the font. It looks a little off to one side. Let's try the font in all teal to start. I wouldn't mind seeing the font in pink or black as well. I'm not quite sure what color will look best.

I would like to see some of the little circles inside the gift the bright pink color - less pastels and more vibrant colors.
Lets' start with these changes and see how it goes from there.

Thanks!

Revisions are great. I can't decide what color...give me a day or so to think about it.

Also, if I were printing say on a dark background like fuschia or say black staff aprons...do you know how I could change the font to white? Not sure if I'd need the program you used to create or if there is a way to send the file with a white font...have no clue how to do that...

I'll be in touch. Thanks for the quick revisions! They're great! Love the bold colors - makes a big difference.

The only other revision I think I would like is to take away the quotation marks.

Is it possible....???

-To get the round image from #52 (minus quotation marks) in both B,D, a white font and the black and white version?

-Also, to get the the image you did for me earlier with the gift on the left and the font on the right (for printing on surfaces where the circle won't fit) in the same 4 colors as above?

Lastly, could I also get the gift image on it's own for when I want to insert it into price signs etc and the full logo is too large?

You know better than me what format I will need for all the files for adding to newspaper ads, website etc.

I do know that a lot of the smaller print jobs I design myself and for those I just need a great jpg resolution so that if I blow them up a little they don't look all blurry.

Please let me know if all these files are ok. I know it's a lot of work but I want to use all versions in one way or another as I have sooooooo many things I will be putting my logo on.

Your help and patience has been so appreciated! I don't know if I'll ever figure out how to change the colors once you send me the files so I'd rather just get it all now so I don't have to panic later.

Also, the font you used is a little different from the other style you showed me. That is the one I am familiar with...does the one you used have a different name? Is it still Boyz R Gross??

Well, that's all...we're almost done! Thanks again! You've been so great! :)

Hello,

I just tried putting the jpg files into the print program I use to design all my postcards, fliers etc. The design with the white font inserts perfectly...however...the others with the colored fonts all have the white boxed background behind them. Is there any way to get them so that they don't have the white box in the background? Sometimes I'll want to insert to a colored background and the white box will really throw things off. I KNOW I'm being a royal pain in your butt. I'm just computer illiterate so if it isn't laid out for me I'll never be able to work with it! LOL

Is there any way to give the jpg files a higher resolution. I just had a vertical one blown up for a sign and it is a little blurry. The print shop in my plaza suggested maybe a 300dpi? If that makes sense...thanks again for your patience.

By the way...if re-sending I don't need files with black font...

The files i provide included a "ai vector" format and this format can enlarge as big as you like without having the pixel/blur problem, the print shop should know how to deal with that format. Even i provide a 300 dpi logo but if you enlarge it to a large format, it will still happen the pixel problem cos (jpeg/psd/png) are all pixel base, thats why we provide client with "ai vector format" which is the common way to use as a logo and you can enlarge/reduce but keeping it a sharp and clean look. To conclude, if you need the logo for large scale print, i suggest you to use ai vector file cos for jpeg use (even very hi res), you need to know the exact measurement (ie, if you have a 4"X6" image with 300 dpi and you need to blow that up to 8"X12", then even 300dpi wont work cos you are forcing the pixel to enlarge). Thanks.:)

possibilities
03-20-2009, 07:11 AM
Ok...I understand the pixel thing so no problem there.

What I need to know before ending this project is how I can insert the full color versions of the logo into projects I am doing myself without having the white background behind them?

I don't have the programs you used to create so for now I can only open/use the jpg files. I will be using jpg versions for 99% of the jobs I do because usually I design myself and then have them printed professionally. The print shops don't actually do the designing.

I don't know how this works but the one you sent with the white text can be inserted without the box (because the text is white). Is there any way to send this same version of file but with the text in color so there is no white box behind?

Sorry for all the questions. Just trying to figure it all out before I end the project.

Thanks again.:)

P.S. What is the name of the font in case I want to use it to match on business cards etc? Thanks!
