Hello everyone,
I sell synthetic lubricants and want to advertise on a website forum.
I need a flashy design for a website banner that I will be advertising on different internet forums. Here are the Banner Requirements:
468x60 pixels for the Banner
JPG or GIF Images
25K maximum Size
Animated Gifs are allowed (89a format)
Here are the current sponsor's banners where I want to advertiseDodgetalk sponsors (http://www.dodgetalk.com/forums/sponsors.php?s=)None of them really stand out or catch your eye.
I want the following items listed on the banner. (They can flash, slide onto the screen, etc.) The banner has to link to my websiteMy Webpage (http://www.lubedealer.com/ws)
Strait's Synthetic Lubricants (first letters capitalized) Top of Banner
www.lubedealer.com/ws ( bottom of the banner)
A flashing part that mentions the following:
Free catalog
Lower engine temps
Better mileage
Better protection
with
(Amsoil) Synthetic Lubricants
Here is a picture of the Amsoil logo, it has to have the Registered trademark symbol <img src='http://amsoil.com/images/amsoillogo_iso1.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
I'd like the banner to have a patriotic Red White and Blue color scheme to match the Amsoil logo.
I look forward to your creativity.
Thanks,
Bill,

I can't advertise until I get the banner. I would like it soon but I realize that I posted this on the weekend so Tuesday the 11th should be plenty of time. I'll stretch it out if the competition is close.
If anyone wants to be creative an incorporate their own ideas about word, and graphic placement, I'm open to suggestions.
I'm very partial to deep to dark blue coloring for a background. A small American flag would be a nice touch.
Hairyiguana I love the Turf banner you put together because it really stands out. I want people to notice my banner, not ignore it.
I'm easy.

Elements,
That is an excellent design. I'm very impressed. I want to give others a chance to submit a design also. I may decide and purchase two if the competition is fierce.
If you can make the rotating words stand out a bit more (more flashy or brighter color) that would be nice also. If you can also add this to the flashing word list, before it shows my web-link " With Amsoil Synthetic Lubricants."
I'm going to register another domain for a future website and as soon as that is done, I would like to see the new link for future banners.
The banner would the same, just the web link will change.
Thanks for the your submission.
Bill,
Bill,
I have attached my entry below. The banner is 22K, size 468 x 60, and it deffinitly uses the patriotic colors. Tell me what you think.
Thanks,
Tim

Tim,
I like how your banner has lots of motion. It is definately eye-catching. The Blue and Red waves are too pastel for my liking. Darken them up some more. The only thing I dislike is the plain background during the pause.
For everyone,
To follow Amsoil's guidelines, I have to mention that I'm and "Independent Amsoil Dealer. I just realized that I forgot to mention it at first (Sorry)
If you can make the Amsoil symbol slowly appear with the word "Independent" on top and "Dealer" underneath. All three words can come in sequence like Independent (then) Amsoil (and finally) Dealer.
Thats all I can think of right now. Thanks again for both submissions.
Bill,
Bill,
Thanks for the fast reply. I will work on the revisions and hopefully get what you are looking for.
Thanks,
Tim

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you liked the idea :)
Here are a couple revisions with the changes made.
The first one I made before reading your last post, so I forgot the "independant dealer" part
<img src='http://www.dilicious.ca/outpost/amsoil_v2.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
<img src='http://www.dilicious.ca/outpost/amsoil_v3.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
Please let me know if there is anything else you'd like changed around.
Thanks!
I have made the revisions. It is still 22k, I used the same colors as the logo with out the fades, and I tried to add something to the pause. Tell me if you would like something else at the pause or any other changes.

I have showed the different banners to my friends and co-workers and all of them like Tim's design because it catches your eye from the top and bottom. One issue that was pointed out is that the words in your design flash too fast. My wife said it took her three tries before she could read my web-link.
Element, your not out of the game. I really like your banner but it needs to reach out more. If you can, make the three words sequence onto the banner like I requested above to help it stand out. I really like the darker words that flash, it looks way better.
Thanks for your impressive effort. I currently like both banners. I'm actually thinking of paying 45 for first and also paying 35 for second if that is acceptable.
I hate to see someone go to all the effort for naught.

That's fine, just deposit the 2nd place prize money the same way you did for the first place prize but don't post the contest.
Looks like Kootch has another entry for you while you were posting your message. :)

<img src='http://www.dilicious.ca/outpost/amsoil_v5.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

I have slowed down the rotating words a little bit. Tell me if anything else needs changing.

El Kootcho,
I like your first design, it has a nice patriotic layout. It has a glitch when it cycles.
There are words that show up in the background. Your second one doesn't work for me.
Elements,
Your last design is what I was looking for. The www.lubedealer line that cycles, it is too hard to read. The font needs to change. Other than the font change, it is a nice design.
Tim,
Great design also, please change the fonts above and below the Amsoil logo as well as the the fonts on the line at the top of banner. They are too blocky for the rounded waves that cycles. Lastly, if possible, have "lubedealer.com/ws (click here)" pause a bit longer. I woulld like people to remember the link.
If this is hard to understand, let me know and I'll try again.
I'll produce the future web-link when I get home today.
Keep up the good work
Bill,
I completely understand. I will make the changes today.
Bill,
I have changed the font for "Independent" and "Dealer", I have made the "Strait's Synthetic Lubricants" text a different font, and I have added longer pauses. If you need the pauses a little longer, dont hesitate to ask.

Hi Bill,
I've made the change to the last frame and made it easier to read.
I've also put together another colour version of the banner.
Let me know if you would like to see any further changes.

Tim and Elements,
You both have winning designs. I need to make my decision tonight. I want to use both of your designs so I need to sleep on it and decide the winner tomorrow. I also want the design for second if you both agree to the $35.00 2nd place deal.
If everyone agrees, I'll add the extra $35.00 after I read your replies.
Elements,
Will I be able to use both color schemes of your last design? They both look good.
The bottom design is missing the Trademark symbol. Please add it in
I finally reserved the domain for my future website it is www.SSlube.com
Please enter it into your banners for my future use.
There is no need for further changes other than the SSlube link and the trademark symbol for Elements.
Best regards and good luck!
Bill,
ElKootcho

Thanks, Bill...glad you liked them.
To answer your question, I am totally fine with the 2nd place deal ($35 for the banner).
I also have no problem with sending you both schemes of my banner to use.
The bottom design is missing the Trademark symbol. Please add it in
:o Thanks for informing me. I'll update both banners with the requested changes and have them ready for you tomorrow.
Thanks, and good luck with the decision
Bill,
I am glad you like my banner design. I have no problem with the second place deal of $35, I think its a great Idea.

I have made my decision. 1st place goes to Elements, and 2nd place was a tie between Tim and El Kootcho. I added another $70.00 to Palmers account so I can have all three Banner designs. I'll rotate all three banners.
El Kootcho,
I want your banner where the Amsoil logo is stationary not the spinning one. It was your second to last design.
Just to make sure everyone is on the same page, I need one design with www.lubedealer.com and one design with sslube.com I have not started a new website yet.
Everyone did a great job, thanks for your effort.
My E-mail address is sgbofav@yahoo.com
I look forward to hearing from.
