Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
PhotoArt Weddings

What type of product or service do you offer?
Contemporary wedding photography - a balance of magazine & photojournalism.

How long have you been in business?
New - creating a fresh brand.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Immediately recognisable brand. A logo that says modern, contemporary, happy, pleasant to work with, professional.
Attract clients who are prepared to pay more for our brand.

What are your long term goals?
To expand business into a full-time concern and create a reputation for myself as the photographer to have.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
No hard and fast deadline - I'd like to decide on or around 15th April.

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
25-40, appreciate artistic images, people who are prepared to spend more for a quality product & service.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
An image that sums up our business values (high quality, friendly, believe in romance & marriage), with the words PhotoArt Weddings as text - either on one line or split over two lines. Photo & Art have no gap between the two words.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Use of a bright colour (and white/black/grey for text) that reflects weddings. I like white backgrounds but am not ruling other ideas out.
I'd also be interested to see some designs featuring one dominant colour with complimentary colours used to a lesser extent in the logo area of the design.
Any dominant colour would be used to continue the theme and used as text on a website for example.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
I'm easy on this. Hearts say romance, but are they too predictable? I don't know the answer to that. I'm happy to be advised and see examples of your creativity. No icons of cameras or lenses please. The icons should reflect the heart-felt experience (romance/love/emotion) & not the tools of the trade. Text & image set against a white background.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
We are a married husband & wife team who believe in weddings and the importance placed on long lasting photographic memories, modern, contemporary, professional, happy, friendly, our clients become our friends.

What is your tagline or slogan?
Don't have one at present.

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
We are modern, different to our competitors, we engage with you during the wedding process. We build a relationship with our clients that puts them at ease throughout the pre-wedding & wedding day experiences.

Where will your new logo be used?
Everywhere - business cards, web, stationary etc.

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
List competitive URLs if possible

What sets you apart from your competitors?
We offer an great experience at every stage of the process. We constantly remind our clients how wonderful they are & engage in their big day. We offer an exceptional quality service using the latest & finest products available. We keep up-to-date on current trends and ideas.

Hi Quirk Design - thanks for submitting.

I'm not sure about the image (not too sure what it is) and I'd like to see more colour please. It's a good starting point, so thanks for being the firsts to post. I'm looking forward to having something to compare it to.

It's an abstract canopy.

Thanks QuirkDesign. I can see the canopy now. I wasn't being dumb it's just that here in the UK a wedding canopy isn't common, as perhaps it might be elsewhere. So it'll probably be lost on a UK market. I like what you've done with the enlarged P & A. At first I wasn't keen on the top line font, but now I think it works well with the more contemporary bottom line font. Could we try maybe a heart or other wedding symbol in place of the canopy and perhaps a stronger colour or colours. Thank you!

They're not common here either, but I was trying to avoid cliche images. I'll work on another idea for you soon.

Thanks glyphica - I do like the heart, could it interact more with the type?

Also...feel free to experiment with the fonts. We are modern & contemporary so it doesn't have to be a 'Times' type font. When I see that font I do think traditional and print rather than digital.

Hi everyone. Here are a few of my thoughts on your latest designs.

Nutscreative - [Version 1] I'm not keen on the cake idea.
[version 2] I do really like your three hearts in a frame - it says art, love & the cropping and position of the hearts also say 'contemporary'. Very nice. Could I see it in red, pink & grey please? with the first font you've used on version 2.
Quirkdesign - [version 3.0] I do like that, I love the image of two unrecognisable symbols coming together to form a heart - that really says marriage. The fonts work well with that. Can you develop on that theme for me please, perhaps also encasing what you've done into some form of frame/surround to represent the art in our work.

Many thanks everyone - I'm feeling very positive about this and think your ideas are fab.

QuirkDesign - I really like what you are doing here. Can we try a couple of other variations please. I'd like you to have a play around with the frame. I love the concept and would just like to see a few variations. The colours are great & I'm now taken with the fonts. Perhaps also placing the heart to the left of the text as an idea.

Any other designers please feel free to join in!

Nutsceative - [version 03] - thanks for the other colours, I'm not sure that the design really says what I want it to.

Taldo - [version 01] - I like that. The artwork really does say hearts & art doesn't it. In truth there isn't anything about it I can ask you to change - the artwork & fonts are great. As I still have a few more days before having to decide, I 'd like to see a few other concepts from you too if you wouldn't mind.

Quirk Design - [Versions 5, 6, 7] - I can see what you are trying to do here with the frame, but they just aren't doing anything for me. I do love the heart, the frame just isn't right though.

glyphica - [Version #2] - The image is a bit too fussy and I think would be difficult to reproduce when small on business cards for exapmple.
glyphica - [Version #3] - I'm still thinking about this.

Taldo - [Version 1] - I think this is my favourite so far. Can you try and fatten up the fonts a little please, as I may need to reverse the colours if printing on a dark background, and I'm not too sure how they'd reproduce being so thin.

Taldo - [version 2] - Thank you for that. Could I just take a look at changing the font of PHOTOART please... maybe try a similar font to the following post by Tini1.

Tini1 - [version 1] - Nice to see something a bit different. It might be me, the right-hand heart reminds me too much of a foot.

Thanks everyone for your creative thoughts.

I have decided to go with Carol Taldo as the winner [Version 3a].

Carol can you provide version as is, and a reversed version too please. Also, so I can match my web/business card/letter head text... details of the fonts used would be appreciated. Many thanks, Martin
