Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
PicCrop
What type of product or service do you offer?
It's a MS Windows based graphical software application used for modifying and editing images.
How long have you been in business?
About 2 years. The logo is for a new product.
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Use the new identity as part of a successful launch of a new product.
What are your long term goals?
To build a large list of users of the application.
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
May 17
Audience Profile: Please describe your existing audience
I don’t have any yet! ;-)
Who would you like to add to your audience?
Individual consumers with digital cameras that are looking to achieve better results when printing their photographs.
Perception/Tone/Guidelines: What type of logo would you like?
I would like the logo to be based on the name of the product "PicCrop"
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
None.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
None.
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
When people see the product's logo I want to give the impression that it's serious in the sense that the product is well designed and implemented, but light-hearted and fun because it’s a small graphical utility that should mainly appeal to individual consumers and not corporate buyers.
What is your tagline or slogan?
The easiest way to achieve professional looking images and prints from your photographs.
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
That it’s a product worth trying, and ultimately, paying for.
Where will your new logo be used?
Application: Splash screen / About box.
Other: Website, business cards and possibly packaging etc
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
The following aren’t competitors but may help me express what I do and don’t like. (Selecting them opens up a clearer version)

In short….
Adobe – Great
Alt-n – Too complicated
Altova – Too plain
CodeGear – Too much text
Corel - Good
Dameware – Pants! Difficult to read!
Macromedia – Great
Microsoft – OK, but plain
Sophos – OK
Symantec – OK
VMWare – Great
Winzip – Hate it
List competitive URLs if possible
If this is OK with everyone, I’d like to leave this open so not to influence any ideas.
What sets you apart from your competitors?
Impossible to say at the moment because the product hasn't been launched yet, but I hope....
a) Easy to use - Not too many functions that you don't use anyway
b) Low cost
c) Good, timely support
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Not sure????
Additional
Adobe Illustrator, or ideally in Inkscape format please.
I will need winning designer to sign the copyright transfer.
The last time I used this service I received some fantastic ideas, and was very happy with the end result, so I’m looking forward seeing all your ideas for this project.
I intend to provide constructive feedback as quickly as I can.
