Hi,<o:p></o:p>

I’m about to release a software product and need a logo + an icon to be used in the software.

Specifically I’d like you to provide the following:<o:p></o:p>
<!--[if !supportLists]-->- Logo (initially will be used as part of the http://filesintime.com (http://www.filesintime.com/) website but also may be used in other context – banner stands, t-shirts, cups, etc. ). Ideally would like to have two versions – one flat horizontal and one rectangular. For example if logo consists of text filesintime and some graphics it would be version of graphics and text in one row and graphics above the text. This is not a strict requirement though, let’s see how it goes. Logo should be delivered as vector graphics.<o:p></o:p>
<!--[endif]--> <!--[if !supportLists]-->-Icon to be used in the software – should resemble graphics used in the logo<o:p></o:p>
<!--[endif]--> <o:p> </o:p>
Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?<o:p></o:p>
FilesInTime (doesn’t have to be in caps as long s the three words are separated somehow, by color maybe?)

What type of product or service do you offer?<o:p></o:p>
Software product - MsOffice extension that allows users to access past versions of their documents. You can think of this as a kind of a backup tool and also as an undo on steroids. More details can be found at http://filesintime.com (http://www.filesintime.com/)<o:p></o:p>

How long have you been in business?<o:p></o:p>
Just starting

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?<o:p></o:p>
Memorable logo expressing and visualizing concept of the product

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?<o:p></o:p>
August 15th

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience<o:p></o:p>
People having to do with a lot of documents. Not necessarily tech-savvy.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?<o:p></o:p>
Simple and clean, easily identified and self-describing the product idea. It is important that the logo must carry the message of what the software does.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)<o:p></o:p>
The software integrates with MsOffice products so would have to

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?<o:p></o:p>
Ease of use, user being in control, protection.

What is your tagline or slogan?<o:p></o:p>
Restore documents from the past.

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?<o:p></o:p>
That it’s a solid software that shields users from many problems they have with their documents.

Where will your new logo be used?<o:p></o:p>
Mostly at www.filesintime.com (http://www.filesintime.com/) but the logo shouldn’t be tailored specifically to this website as the design will change in a near future. Icon will be used in the software itself.

Hello,

Here is my proposal..
The concept icon/logo is pretty self explanatory...
dots = time
circle-arrow = return/back/undo
documents = files/office files

thanks!

Hello..
Here is another concept.. kind of an "easy button".. it's so easy to get the files back to work.. :)

Thanks Pieter

I like the first version better. Here are my comments (for version 1):

- I like what you did with the "Files in Time" text. Looks really good.
- I'm not entirely convinced with the graphics - it look nice visually but I'm not sure if it carries the message. The first thought that popped in my mind when I saw it was rather compass then a clock. I think it's because of the arrows at 3/6/9/12 hours. Maybe changing it to let's say dark blue dots a little bigger then the other ones would help?

Hello,

Here is the revised design...

I tried to add more dots (like the clock), but looks too busy.. so I left that idea...

Instead of using dots, we can also use bars/lines.. What do you think?..

Anyway, please advise..

Thanks!

Pieter - thanks for revised design. I think the dots look just fine. I liked the original colors more though - the smaller dots being light blue and the bigger ones (previously arrays) being dark-blue/black.
I generally like this design very much - pretty much the style I wanted.
Could you also prepare a version where the graphics is bigger (width the same as width of the "Files in Time" text) and placed directly above the text? Thanks.

Red - your design doesn't convince me. I think the idea of movement has potential, but would have to be something different, sorry.

Suggestion for all - maybe idea of having multiple versions/revisions of a file could be shown somehow? Or files 'moving in time'? Just a thought.

I like it so far and looking for few more alternatives.

Thanks!

Hello..

Here it is.. stacked version of the logo..
It's not exactly the same width; it's 3:4.. i can make it 1:1 if you prefer that way.. :)

Thanks!

-Pieter
:)

ps: Btw.. Should you need a virtual software box/DVD case, you can also post that project here at Design Outpost... Here is an example of what I created last year: BidRobot eBox (http://www.bidrobot.com/images/bidrobot-box.jpg)

Tyler - Not really the style I'm looking for. I don't like the idea of text and graphics merged together. Text and graphics needs to be separable as I would like to use the graphics as an icon.

Pieter - #9 looks great. I like the glowing dots on the dark background :) #10 is also good.

Glyphica - I like your style from other contests very much but I'm not thrilled with this particular design. Too oval and I'm not convinced by the color choice. It's also very similar to other designs - I'm sure you can come up with something totally new.

Thanks for all the work so far!

hello,

here is another concept..

#13 - I really like it - great idea! Could you modify the files so that subsequent revisions differ slightly? Just a subtle changes to highlight that files change over time.

I wonder whether it would look good in the horizontal layout - with the icon the same height as text. As I mentioned in the first post ideally I would like to have the ability to use the logo in both versions.

Good stuff - thanks!

This one looks good too.

That's not exactly what I meant with the files differences - it was rather something like this:

129782

I hope you don't mind me messing up with your work. It's just to explain what I had in mind.

Here is another "files differences" image...
Yes, we can also make it like the one you did (edited)...
Perhaps 1 column, 2-columns? instead of just deleting some lines?..

Thanks!

I like it - much better than what I had in mind :)
Could you also show the shiny version?

Thank you!

Please advise..

OK, looks like there's no one else interested in this thread. I'm pretty happy with Pieter's work so if no one else is going to submit anything I will finish this contest earlier.
I will wait a few more days so if you're working on something or plan doing so please let me know, it's not too late.

Thanks Jennifer, that's a good start.

What I like about this logo:
- Graphics concept seems to be self explanatory
What could be improved:
- Having 'Files' different width than 'inTime' looks unbalanced, maybe having them all the same and only separated by color would be better?
- I don't like the tag line being in capital letters and also the arrows. I think it would be better to leave it as simple text.

I like the design and would like to see it updated.

Thanks.

Thanks Jennifer. One more thing I would change is aligning the tag line to the right. Also, could you show version with FilesinTime in bold (like inTime in first version)?

I will be away tomorrow and during the weekend but on Monday I plan to decide on the winning design. I narrowed the choice to #9, #17 and #25 at the moment.

Thank you all for good designs.

I finally decided to go with #28 by Jennifer. Thanks everyone, especially Pieter - I liked your designs very much.

Jennifer - all I need now is the logo in vector format, something I can open in Inkscape.
