Project Summary:
Looking for a logo for my new dog training business!
Text to be included:
Sprocket's School for Dogs
What type of product or service do you offer?
Dog training
How long have you been in business?
Just starting out!
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Attract clients with a recognizable logo
What are your long term goals?
To build a solid client base
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
Aug18, 2009
Audience Profile:
Families and adults with new puppies, newly adopted adult dogs, or dogs they've had for awhile that need training.
Who would you like to add to your audience?
More of the same and people who are considering getting a dog.
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
A fun, simple logo that's eye catching and recognizable. If someone sees it once on a business card I want them to recognize it the next time they see it.
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
No pastels, other than that I don't know.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
I was thinking an old fashioned schoolhouse (like this (http://cssd.ucr.edu/Research/Images/schoolhouse.gif)) to keep in line with the name but I'm not firm on that. School/learning images would be appropriate. The business is named after my dog Sprocket, so a cartoony or stylized image of him would be cute. There are pics of him on my flickr page here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/smaki/sets/72157600166192962/) and here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/smaki/sets/72157616267837309/)
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Fun, breezy, hip
What is your tagline or slogan?
Don't have one at the monment.
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
That training your dog is fun, not drudgery!
Where will your new logo be used?
Website, business cards, tshirts, letterhead, car magnets.
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
Fido Personal Dog Training (http://fidodogtraining.com/): I like this logo. It's cute, simple, and easy to use on cards and clothing. Can't have anything similar to this though, I work with this trainer.
Sportsmen's (http://www.sportsmens.net/custompage.asp?page=10): I don't love this logo. The curvy line style logo reminds me of a yoga studio and I don't like the colors they used. This logo doesn't look cohesive to me, the elements don't go together.
Trainer's Academy (http://www.woofology.com/): I don't like this logo at all. It's a cute idea but it's too dark, the dog looks blurry. Too crowded.
List competitive URLs if possible:

What sets you apart from your competitors?
I'm a new trainer that's constantly reading, watching and learning. I want to focus on making training FUN and teaching people why their dogs do what they do. No physical punishments, no boring sit-heel-sit routines.
Targeted Message:
Have fun training your dog!
So excited to see what you all come up with! My husband had his photography logo designed here and he had so many cool options to choose from!
