Our student ministry is redesigning our entire theme and look for 2004 and I need a sharp looking logo to begin with. The new theme is based on the word "Journey" as in a lifelong journey with Christ. We are using terms like “Survival kits”, “Search and Rescue Teams”, and our Wednesday night program will be called “Base Camp”. I need the logo to be designed in a program that can easily be taken to a printer to do things like banners, t-shirts, letterhead, and business cards. I guess I am thinking something done in vector? I have both Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator to change colors and such for different applications. While I want a great color logo it needs to look good as a one color design. We want to use an earth tone color scheme. Our first step was to redesign or website to fit the theme better. Our website is www.mrbcyouth.org if you want to know more about us. This contest is for $65.00 and the top designs will be submitted to a group of students and adults making the final decision. I would like to submit design to the group on the 4th of December and pick a contest winner on the 8th of December. I will be monitoring the forum to offer additional ideas and feedback. If you have any questions just ask!

Do you want the entire "Moffett Road Baptist Church Student Ministry" in the logo?

In the past we have used "MRBC Youth Ministry" in the logo. We are changing to Student Minisrty. I would like to see either the church name or at least the initials in the design (I think?) Really I have hit a wall creatively and am looking for some fresh direction in all this!

Craig, this is my first entry. Please look over and notify of any changes. Note, the other phrases under logo would be placed under "MRBC". Thank You-Doug B)

Doug -

I like the concept. The other title don't need to be in this logo design, because eventually they will either have there own logo or use the main logo. However, I do like having the place to put the names if we use the main logo. I dont know if that makes any sense.

I Love the compass!!! I think a compass would look great incorperated into this theme. The path with the footprints look great to. Maybe we could try moving the elements around a little bit. Maybe even making a little more edgy. I dont like the cross the way it is. It could fit into the design but the current one doesn't do anything form me. I like the font on the sub name but not the font on the MRBC. The colors look good, maybe a variation with some hunter green in it? Also wanting to know what these designs look like in black and white.

Thanks for the creativity!!!

RED LIZARD - None of those designs really do anything for me.

Craig, I made some changes I thought you might like. I kept the elements you desired but gave it more of an edgy feel. The font makes it more extreme along with the natural colors. Please let me know if we're on the right road or not and of any changes.
Thank You, Doug B)

Doug -

I think it is a step in the right direction. I like the compass, but what if it was more to the side of the text. Possibly fading in? Again I love the footprints. I think the path was a better idea, now that I have seen the road. Our current theme is a roadwork theme so I want to sepreate from that. What if the path was there instead and it went straight and faded into the distance? I still dont like the main font. Let's also try switching the MRBC and Student Ministry text (Moffett Road Baptist Church on the compass and Studnet Ministry in the front large) Maybe the main font could be liek a speedline?

I am still looking for some imput from other designers!!! I need a few option for our students to chose from and am open to other directions for the project.

I am disappointed I have only gotten one design to work with. I had hoped that by listing this in the regular logo area I would get more option to choose from...

Doug -

thank you so much for your submisison. I have enjoyed this process and the work with the feedback.

I have had a few people look it over and given the follwoign sugestions. First, can you change the cross back to a regular needle.Second the green thing in the back doesn't do anyhting for us. The sub names for events donot need to be in this design at all (base camp, survival kits...)

I like the student ministry being out front. I Like the footpath. I like the compass. Can we try arranging those element around like the atttached picture. (I am no artist by any means!) and see what it looks like. the cirlce represents the compass with a fade to the back of the Studnet ministry.

Thanks again for your work!

Hypnosis - A couple of our adults really like the badge idea. The suggetions were to make the cross a little more 3D and we don't want the program titles such as survival kit or base camp to be a part of the logo. How would it look as a black and white design for publications?

Thanks for entry we really appreciate the variety!

I appreciate all the designs that have been submitted. There are elements of all that I like. I have to take these to our commitee today in order to make some sort of a selection. Those that I have shared a preview with have not been sold on any one design.

I was hoping to see some revisions on the first 2 designs especially after the feedback I gave.

I like the concepts in the later designs by mowling and amanda, but time does not allow me any tweeking of those designs.

Mowling - I like the guy with the walking stick. Can you incorperate the church initials (MRBC) and/or "Student Ministries" into the design.

Amanda - I like the new direction in the design. The only thing I do not like is the color sceme. The purple is just not working for me. The other area would be the wording. the placement and font just make it to formal looking.

I will offer all four up for the committee to decide on.

Thank you for your efforts.

PS - I will be checking back in this forum before my meeting to see if there are any last minute posts.

Craig,

Let me know what you think. I wanted to provide you with something that fit in with the concepts I provided for you in the other logo contest you have going on. I think they both tie into your website. The red "t"'s hint at feeling I got when I heard the words, Journey, Base Camp, Survival Kits, and Search and Rescue Teams. I hope these got in on time.

I hope I'm not too late on this one. The artwork needs some refinement, but I need a little more time. If you think it works for your organization, please let me know and I'll be glad to bring it to completion.

Because of conditions beyond my control I was unable to present the designs for this contest to the committee today. I had to reschedule it for Wednesday, December 10th. I will meet with the group at 5:00pm on that day.

I appreciate the late entries and will include them in the submitions.

David - I have a student looking over my shoulder that loves your design. I personally do not like the wing effect. I do like the background of a road and the mountians. I like the color mixture. I really love the fonts for the design!!!

I appreciate all the submitions. Some of the elements I have seen I like are the compass or at least directional points. The path winding away. The foot prints. The mountians backdrops... Hope some of this helps!

Wednesday is definately the Day!!

Palmer- Thanks! As I'm a new member, your positive feedback really means a lot to me.

Craig- Thank you for the feedback. I'm glad you like the color palette and the landscape w/trail. I thought the wings motif would suggest a sense of "uplifting" or freedom. Perhaps it comes off a little too 1970's rock n' roll though. :lol:
I've tried, in this revision, to simplify the overall shape while at the same time, working up a bit of detail in the landscape. Since you like the idea of a compass/direction, I've worked a very subtle compass-like motif into the design.
I hope you like it, please feel free to make any additional suggestions.

Thanks again and I hope you like the changes.

Mowling - Something hit me while looking at your design. I think it would look good in the other contest I have running. I know you have already submitted a design for the One Way Weekend, but was wondering if you would like to put this concept into that contest. I like the guy with the stick and the font for #2 and #4.

Just a reminder that our team will meet today Wednesday, December 10th at 5:00pm (central time) to make a decision on both logo contest we have running. I will be printing the final copies of each design around 3:00pm to prepare for the meeting.

I want to once again thank you all for the creativity and time you have put into your designs. You have made this a very tough decision. Thank you for the many revisions and ideas you have brought to the table.

Hi Craig,

Here are some examples of my design on t-shirts.

The wings logo makes a comeback. I thought the design looked appropriate for the backs of t-shirts:
<img src='http://www.davidbenton.net/mrbc/mrbc_ts_01.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

Here's a bit simpler rendition on a blue t-shirt:
<img src='http://www.davidbenton.net/mrbc/mrbc_ts_02.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

Here's just a one sided blue t-shirt (obviously less expensive to reproduce).
<img src='http://www.davidbenton.net/mrbc/mrbc_ts_03.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

Here's the One Way Weekend design. I probably should have posted it in your other thread, but I wanted you to see the cohesiveness alongside the other designs:
<img src='http://www.davidbenton.net/mrbc/mrbc_1way_ts_01.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

I hope your meeting goes well. There's a lot of really great entries here, so good luck to everybody! :tup:

I want to thank everyone for their patience and for the designs submitted. They really were all great designs!

Thanks for listening to our feedback and for the countless revisions. We had a very hard time making a decision tonight. There were several logos that we really liked.

Unfortunatly there can be only one!

The design we will go with is Doug Bonhaus of goodhaus graphics. We have a few things we would liked tweeked with the design, but have chsoen to go with that setup.

Again, thank you all so much for your time and efforts put into this and our other contest. You people truly are gifted individuals and we have had such a great experience. We will definately be back for future project.

I will also be letting all my friends know about the great time we have had with this experience.

Thank you thank you thank you!
