Design Outpost Creative Brief Worksheet
Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
At this point, there is no specific text that we have in mind that must be included. This project is for a logo design that will appear on a t-shirt for students. We want an innovative, “cool” design that will promote students to enter careers in the green industry (landscape, horticulture, etc.) and also possibly promote our company (HighGrove Partners) as a great place to start a career in the green industry.
What type of product or service do you offer?<o:p></o:p>
We are a full service commercial landscape company. For this purposes of this project, we will be recruiting students to join our organization. As a potential employer, we offer internships and permanent employment in a company culture that is extremely innovative, leading-edge and fun.
How long have you been in business? <o:p></o:p>
Since 1989
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity? <o:p></o:p>
We want this logo/design to appear on a t-shirt that we will be giving to students at PLANET Student Career Days, an annual three-day competitive event among students enrolled in horticulture programs from colleges and universities across the country. The students have the chance to compete in events that are directly related to the skills necessary for a career in the green industry. The event also offers a Career Fair which gives the students the opportunity to meet prospective employers (like us) in the industry and discuss employment opportunities.
What are your long term goals?
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer? <o:p></o:p>

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience<o:p></o:p>
Our target audience comprises students enrolled in horticulture/landscape programs from colleges/universities around the country.
Who would you like to add to your audience?<o:p></o:p>
Same audience as above.
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?<o:p></o:p>
We want a logo (that will be put on a t-shirt) that college students will perceive as very “cool” and cutting edge such that everyone is eager to get a t-shirt from HighGrove Partners! We want the design to motivate students to get a career in the green industry. If possible, we’d love to incorporate our company in this design as well.<o:p></o:p>
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)<o:p></o:p>
No - however, if we are able to incorporate our company logo (see below) into this design, then we will want colors that will work well with our logo colors. Our logo colors are: Black, #187 (Dark red) and #187 at 50% (Lighter red) <o:p></o:p>
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?<o:p></o:p>
No, but if there is a way to possibly integrate our company logo into the design, that would be ideal.
<o:p></o:p>
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
That we are a modern, innovative, cool company and “THE” landscape company to work for as a student pursuing a career in the green industry.
<o:p></o:p>
What is your tagline or slogan?<o:p></o:p>
We recently celebrated our 20th anniversary last year. The tagline we’ve been using has been “HighGrove Partners - 1989-2009: 20 Years of Creating Innovative Landscape Solutions”<o:p></o:p>
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
That a career in the green (landscape/horticulture) industry is beneficial/cool/a smart move and that we (HighGrove Partners) provide a great place to work.<o:p></o:p>
Where will your new logo be used?
On a t-shirt to be given out at Student Career Days (http://www.landcarenetwork.org/cms/studentcareerdays/SCD-Home.html (http://www.landcarenetwork.org/cms/studentcareerdays/SCD-Home.html))<o:p></o:p>
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
List competitive URLs if possible
What sets you apart from your competitors?<o:p></o:p>
It is rare for a landscape company to be a true full service company as we are. Our scope of services ranges from traditional landscape architecture/master planning to design/build to maintenance. We also offer various land services that our competitors don’t. Most companies generally specialize in either design/build or maintenance.
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:<o:p></o:p>
Innovative<o:p></o:p>
