Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
At this point, there is no specific text that we have in mind that must be included. This project is for a logo design that will appear on a t-shirt for students. We want an innovative, “cool” design that will promote students to enter careers in the green industry (landscape, horticulture, etc.) and also possibly promote our company (HighGrove Partners) as a great place to start a career in the green industry.
What type of product or service do you offer?<o:p></o:p>
We are a full service commercial landscape company. For this purposes of this project, we will be recruiting students to join our organization. As a potential employer, we offer internships and permanent employment in a company culture that is extremely innovative, leading-edge and fun.

How long have you been in business? <o:p></o:p>
Since 1989

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity? <o:p></o:p>
We want this logo/design to appear on a t-shirt that we will be giving to students at PLANET Student Career Days, an annual three-day competitive event among students enrolled in horticulture programs from colleges and universities across the country. The students have the chance to compete in events that are directly related to the skills necessary for a career in the green industry. The event also offers a Career Fair which gives the students the opportunity to meet prospective employers (like us) in the industry and discuss employment opportunities.

What are your long term goals?

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer? <o:p></o:p>
Friday, March 5, 2010

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience<o:p></o:p>
Our target audience comprises students enrolled in horticulture/landscape programs from colleges/universities around the country.
Who would you like to add to your audience?<o:p></o:p>
Same audience as above.
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?<o:p></o:p>
We want a logo (that will be put on a t-shirt) that college students will perceive as very “cool” and cutting edge such that everyone is eager to get a t-shirt from HighGrove Partners! We want the design to motivate students to get a career in the green industry. If possible, we’d love to incorporate our company in this design as well.<o:p></o:p>

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)<o:p></o:p>
No - however, if we are able to incorporate our company logo (see below) into this design, then we will want colors that will work well with our logo colors. Our logo colors are: Black, #187 (Dark red) and #187 at 50% (Lighter red) <o:p></o:p>

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?<o:p></o:p>
No, but if there is a way to possibly integrate our company logo into the design, that would be ideal.

<o:p></o:p>
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
That we are a modern, innovative, cool company and “THE” landscape company to work for as a student pursuing a career in the green industry.

<o:p></o:p>
What is your tagline or slogan?<o:p></o:p>
We recently celebrated our 20th anniversary last year. The tagline we’ve been using has been “HighGrove Partners - 1989-2009: 20 Years of Creating Innovative Landscape Solutions”<o:p></o:p>

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
That a career in the green (landscape/horticulture) industry is beneficial/cool/a smart move and that we (HighGrove Partners) provide a great place to work.<o:p></o:p>

Where will your new logo be used?
On a t-shirt to be given out at Student Career Days (http://www.landcarenetwork.org/cms/studentcareerdays/SCD-Home.html (http://www.landcarenetwork.org/cms/studentcareerdays/SCD-Home.html))<o:p></o:p>

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?

List competitive URLs if possible

What sets you apart from your competitors?<o:p></o:p>
It is rare for a landscape company to be a true full service company as we are. Our scope of services ranges from traditional landscape architecture/master planning to design/build to maintenance. We also offer various land services that our competitors don’t. Most companies generally specialize in either design/build or maintenance.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:<o:p></o:p>
Innovative<o:p></o:p>

Designers - Thank you for the great ideas submitted. Very interesting and very diverse! Here are some ideas/concepts that we really like so far:

-LutFi's concept of "Powered by HighGrove" - love this!
-tini1's concept of Green Career/Innovation begins with you

Let's take these ideas a few steps further and see what we can come up with. Again, think about what would appeal to a college student.

Thank you and looking forward to more fun and cool ideas!

Hello!

Please let me propose you my idea of very pop-cultural design and my proposition of funny words play. It can be also easily used as a sticker, not only a t-shirt print or logo :)

We really like the humor/word play of "Green Go" (very creative) but fear that it may not be super pc. So, as much as as we like it, we are not totally comfortable. That said, we'd love to find another way to create an unconventional design that would spark a good reaction, humorous or otherwise.

Please keep the creative juices flowing! We are getting close and I've extended the deadline by a week to get some more ideas in. Keep 'em coming!

I like this one a lot (#22). May we see a few variations of this?

I still like #12 quite a bit too. As with #22, I would like to see some different versions of this; would like to see some variations of how this innovation theme is done. Thank you!

.

Thank you for submitting additional designs. I don't think #23/24 have the immedate impact that #19/20 do. I know we discussed not using "green-go" but might there be some other way to have a funny/striking comment? Would love to find a way to have a graphic that would generate a positive, immediate response or laugh but not use the green-go expression. Any other ideas on how we can do this? I'm open!

Hi,
Some new submissions for your logo.
I just wanted to make the suggestion of printing this logo on the front, and having the Highgrove Partners logo printed large on the back of the t-shirt?

Thanks!

Oh! Sorry - Apparently, we didn't see that it was a lightbulb. I actually really like it that it is a lightbulb - that makes total sense. With this being the case,I would ask that the lightbulb be re-done a bit so that it is more easily recognized.

Thank you for the quick response. I like this lightbulb better. Could we see this with a few adjustments? How about changing the wording to "Green innovation grows with you" and use "Powered by" HighGrove Partners. Not sure if the "Powered by" will look better inside or outside of the lightbulb. Thank you!

Hi...I don't think my design needs a BY, powered by...it is loud and clear as is....:)

I added a exclamation/target point to bottom of litebulb, edgy/different:)

Tini1 - Congrats on the winning-design! We are pleased! We would like to make a few final edits as follows:

--Add "powered by" - our CEO really wants it in there. I realize that it is not totally necessary, but he would really like to see it. Thank you!
--Can you make the exclamation/target point at the bottom of the graphic just a little smaller?
--Add our website (www.highgrove.net) somewhere.
--Add this text - Student Career Days 2010

This is perfect! Thank you! Let's run with this.

Would it be possible for you to send me files for the following 2 phrases. We will put these items on other parts of the shirt and I wanted to have it in the same font that you used for the graphic (if that makes sense):

1) "Student Career Days 2010" - this would look just like what you put in #50
2) "JUDGE"

Let me know if this is something you can provide. If not, no big deal -we will try to match the font as best we can when we print the shirts.

Thank you!
