Hi,

This is my first request so please bear with me so, if I fail to mention something here please ask.

I would like a new logo to replace a text logo for a web portal I recently launched. It’s called Rhode Island Hunts but will go by RIHunts.com and is located at www.RIHunts.com (http://rihunts.com) The portal is focused on hunting in Rhode Island.

I think I may want the .com as part of the logo (would like to see with and without). For the Web, the logo should have a transparent background and will sit on top of an image (see site). The current text logo & navigation was designed in PhotoShop and this one should be (or Fireworks) as well so I can work with it as needed.

Color: I think a florescent/hunter orange would be appropriate but I am open to suggestions. I also would need a copy in black for a black on florescent/hunter orange stock business card. The business card would be simple rihunts.com and tag line.

The site tag line is (Your hunt starts here) I may want this incorporated into the logo (maybe not for the site but defiantly for the business card and banner).

I’m also going to need banners in 3 sizes 120 234 468 x 60 banner logo (w/ 3 backgrounds white, black and transparent).

Well I think that about covers it, and it ends on 11/30

Thanks for your help,

Brenakie

Just to recap recap….
Website: Logo (with & without tag line)
Business Card: Logo with tag line (one color card black on florescent/hunter orange stock)
Banners: 3 sizes 120, 234, 468 X 60: Logo and tag line w/ 3 backgrounds white, black and transparent
Format: Preferably in PhotoShop or Fireworks format, so I can work with them

Brenakie,

How about changing the contest to $65 for the logo only?
Then you can work out with the winning designer how they would like to handle the reest of what you are asking for.

3 banners and a business card plus the original logo for $65 is just not enough, even for the most starving of artists.

Have a nice day.

I have to agree with Bill here $65 is the min amount just for a logo design, you may want to post the logo contest and then post a banner contest in the Misc forum for maybe $30-$40 (not sure what the going rate is for a banner) as for the business card design you can come to some arrangement with the winning designer.

Thanks

Michael

That's fine, like I said this is all new to me. Lets go with the Logo Design.

So to recap again....

Again thanks for your help and my apologies if I offended anyone.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your quick response to this challenge.

I’ll give my input on the challenge submissions in the order they were posted.

Eagle: I like the orange, and the dog is really sharp, however I don’t want the logo to be dog specific. I need something more common across the board like a person, gun, deer, or duck. I like the 1st font best out of the 3.

Pennyln: You’re on the right track, I like the use of different colors in the last image, I like what I see so far in all 4. I like the the font in image 1 & 4

All: Would it be possible to make this a bit more “square”. Its final size is going to be around 85 pixels, it’s going to sit in the upper left hand corner of the page and lie over some outdoor images.

I’d like to see some attempts from some more participants to get a larger sample. Having given comments on what has been submitted already I’d like to see what you come up with.

Thanks again for all your hard work!!

Here is what 85 pixels square looks like.
Are you sure you want to go this small?

And it impossible to get RIHunts.com that small so you can read it on one line.

Hmm..was just about to mention that too! :)

Not impossible, but a complex font wouldn't look too great at that size.

Bear with us Bren, we'll work something out! ;)

Hi,

Pennyln: I like that logo a lot I captures what I'm looking for.

I realize the 85 pixels is not a lot to work with so, I'll work with what is given to me. That being said, could we still go with what I mentioned in my previous post and try and incorporate the Tag line?

Thanks again for your time & patience!!

First entry…incorporating the tagline is very small (7pt.), maybe to small to view on the web. Let me know of any changes. Thanks, Doug B)

Just to make a suggestion: maybe go with 240 x 50 px for the logo size, the tagline is much bigger and balances out. Here's another shot in the dark! B)

Hi,

Doug: Thanks for the submission!! You're right on target. I really like what you did with the 240 x 50 banner. This gives me room to grow as far as my naigation goes. Could you try and incorporate a different image of a shooter? Also can try a different stroke color?

Pennyln: I'd love to see a 240 x 50 banner w/ the tag line incorporated. I'm not sure if a 1px stroke will help the logo stand out on top of the photo.

Thanks for all your hard work

Hi,

I know that this was to end around 11/30. But, I have this is down to two finalists: Doug and Pennyln ( are you still in?) I will make a decision on the winner when the final modifications are done.

I just wanted to take a moment and let all of you know that this has been a great experience. You are all VERY talented individuals :notworthy: . Palmer, you have a outstanding group of designers here and this site is a great resource for us graphically challenged folks. I will be back for more!!!

Doug: I love the revisions, and the blue and green color options. I also like shooter tucked in the letter R in RI, it makes the logo a bit more "square". I love both logos though. There's one thing I have a "issue" with, (I should have mentioned this earlier and I apologize for not). It looks like the shooter is using a rifle, unfortunately in RI we cannot use them to hunt with. If you could make the gun appear more "heavier" like a shotgun (and even loose the scope and front sight, just keep the top of the barrel flat/smooth) I think that that would do it.

Pennyln: I haven't heard back from you. I'm not sure if I lost you or not, if you are still interested, I'd love to see a 240 x 50 banner w/ the tag line incorporated. I'm not sure if a 1px stroke will help the logo stand out on top of the photo.

Thanks again for all your hard work and time!!!

Morning All,

Eagle, thanks for the final submission, but the logo doesn’t do it for me sorry :(

Pennyln, Thanks for getting back to me :D I really like the logo a lot it captures everything I’m looking for, it’s clean and uncluttered, includes a person/hunter, and has the tagline.
Can you include the .com? Also when I placed the logo on the navigation banner the RI gets lost. Can it be “stroked” so it stands out and doesn’t get lost or whatever you think will work?

Thanks,

Bren

Eagle & Pennyln,

Thanks again for your hard work!! I'm waiting to get some final feed back from my colleagues. I'll have my final decision on Monday.

One question to both of you what format would I get the logo in?

Just checking, did you mean G)(G Doug or Eagle for the final logo feedback?
Also, the logo can be sent in any format you desire---vector or a photoshop file.
Thx, Doug

I think I'm out of the running here but just in case, all my contest holders get the following as standard (with any other file type on request e.g. png, wmf, pdf etc)

Print:
300dpi_10inx2in_JPG_RGB.jpg
300dpi_10inx2in_Raster_Layered_RGB.cpt (Corel Photopaint format)
300dpi_10inx2in_Raster_Layered_RGB.psd (Adobe Photoshop format)
300dpi_10inx2in_TIF_RGB.tif
(Converted to CMYK, depending on printer's requirements).

Web:
web optimised logo 96/72dpi ***x***pixel JPG/GIF (dimensions at client's request)

Original Files:
Final.ai (Resizable, Vector-based Adobe Illustrator format)
Final.cdr (Resizable, Vector-based CorelDRAW format)
Final.eps (Electronic Post Script)

Well the votes are finally in, Pennln's design is the one we are going with.

I want to thank everyone for their input, time and creativity.

Pennyln, I use Photoshop primarly a PSD would be ideal if not A Fireworks PNG will work.

Thanks again,
