PROJECT SUMMARY:

To create a LOGO for a state of the art general surgery, medical practice.

Text:
Please incorporate the letters “MD” in the design, since the surgeon's name is Maggie DiNome and of course M.D. also stands for doctor of medicine. We have no company slogan.

Service Offered:
This is a general surgery and surgical oncology (cancer surgery) medical office. Read on, this is not a depressing business, it is about saving people!

Time in Business: 9 years.

What do we hope to accomplish:
1. To instill the following in patients: to give them a sense of confidence and to be positive about their future medical outcome, a sense of being in control, hopefulness, warmth, that we will definitely help them, that we are the safest place possible for you, our patient to be. In fact most of our patients are completely cured of their disease, so this is a positive place of business!
2. To convey the following to referring physicians: That Dr Maggie DiNome and her practice is the state of the art choice of surgical offices in the Los Angeles area and to position her in a way that says that she provides the best possible care for breast and colon cancer and other general surgery issues. The doctor is female, attractive and very well trained and educated (Yale, Duke, and Harvard) and I want to project her expertise and professionalism to referring physicians who may not already know her.

Long Term Goals:
To be recognized as the single best choice for patients and referring physicians in the Los Angeles, CA area for our types of surgery: General Surgery and Surgical Oncology: “state of the art” breast cancer surgery, colon cancer surgery, hernia repair, gall bladder surgery, etc.

DEADLINE: March 15, 2010

Audience Profile:

1. Our audience is sick medical patients who need surgery. Some have problems that are not serious or life threatening and others very serious and life-threatening.
2. Our other audience is the large number of general family physicians who already do or hopefully will refer their sick patients to us.

Perception/ Tone/Guidelines:

Type of Logo:
The doctor’s initials are M.D.; it would be nice to incorporate those letters into the design.

Colors:
Colors are important and I have read research which suggests that the colors orange and yellow portray hopeful and sunny feelings in people and that most people chose some version of blue as their favorite color. So, please use orange, yellow and some shades of blue. We really want to project that we are a safe, positive place. Those are just thoughts and I do not mean to hinder creativity so please open your color palate and create. I have never really seen a logo for a medical ofice that knocked me out, have you?

Desired Images/Themes:
The letters “MD,” maybe the curve of a reclining human body, maybe gentle waves, beach (Our patient exam rooms are bright and sunny and they have a beautiful and commanding view of Santa Monica California beaches and of the mountains to the north, think of the TV show “Private Practice.”)
It’s probably best to stay away from images like scalpels so that we don’t scare our patients.

Just one thought; since I know Dr. DiNome ito be very artful in her practice of surgery it may be interesting to portray a idealized form of a person (surgeon) giving life and light to another person (patient) reclining on some gentle waves. Almost like a physician painting (doing surgery) with a light instrument...just quick thoughts.

This suggestion is not meant to hinder your individual creativity in any way. Please be yourself, be creative in your own way!

Communication Strategy:
To project positive, confident feelings in our patients and referring M.Ds.

No tag line or slogan.

Overall Message:
Come to Dr. Maggie DiNome and you will have the best chance possible to make a full recovery.

Competitive Positioning
Our competition is a large hospital cancer center called the John Wayne Cancer Institute (www.jwci.org)

Our Intended Use:
For use on stationary, collateral materials and business card and we will want to incorporate it onto a header and footer for our stationary, which we have not designed yet. If you can do it all great, if not do what you do best! We will be redesigning our web site as well in the future. Our current URL is www.maggiedinomemd.com.

What Sets Us Apart From Competitors:

The superior training and truly artful surgical skills of Dr. DiNome and her amazingly positive outcomes.

Targeted Message:
We are your best choice for general surgery/surgical oncology in Los Angeles.

I am relying on you amazing creative people to dazzle us with something great. Please feel to let it rip!

We really like the the way that you made the orange and yellow colors bleed.

Can you make the letters less block-like as in the Design Outpost logo? And perhaps incorporate a blue wave below the letters.

Can you do one version without the name "Maggie DiNome MD" underneath?

Thanks, it looks great!

Gerard

version2:)

This is a great shot but can you please take another shot at it. ;)

Can you make the entire logo more amorphous and less symetrical? Please make the letters less block-like and more stylized like in the Design Outpost logo? I think that the figure is too prominant and that you could probably use more clor bleeding from yellows to oranges. Can you add a gentle wave below?

Thanks much.

We like this logo very much.

Can you try to make the yellow color bleed to orange?

Please try a version without the "Maggie DiNome doctor of medicine," below and instead integrate the figure into a gentle blue wave.

Can use incorporate "MD" letters into the design? We like more creative lettering like in the Design Outpost logo.

Please get back soon. :)

Hi,
A new submission for your logo.

Thanks,
Blink Graphix

Very interesting and creative, thanks for the effort! :)

Can you play with two things in this logo, the colors and the MD lettering in the b.g.

Please change all the coloring to incorporate orange as well and make the "MD" lettering more prominant, with a stronger hint of color.

The overall design is very interesting and creative.
Can you please try one version without "Maggie DiNome MD."

Awesome,

Gerard

Very cool!

We like this and have a few suggestions for alterations.

Can you please make the"MD " lettering more stylized as in the Design Outpost logo and use a stronger orange color for the doctor and can you make the pastiet a little bit more prominant? Can you put the doctor on the left and the "MD" lettering on the right?

Please try one version without, "Maggie DiNome MD" below.

Thanks,

G

We love the revisions.:D Would you please just play with the "MD" lettering to give us a version that is more stylized (eg. italics, script, abstract, etc). Something other than block lettering. I am trying to decide between your design and only one other, so please do what you can. Thank you!

Other thoughts.

Can you please make the sun a brighter yellow, the surgeon a blue as in the wave and the patient a lighter orange instead of tan.

Thanks.

Hi,
Here are the revisions requested.

Thanks!

Blink Graphix

We love the revisions and the color of the wave. But can you punch the other colors. Make the orange more like an orange sunset and work with the colors of the surgeon and patient. Maybe use less muted colors.

Can you go back to the half-dome first version as well with the name under the wave. Can you try to make the "MD" stand out a bit more behind the figures instead of moving it.

It's down to you and one other designer. Good luck and thanks.

Palmer

Hello Designers. Just a quick note that the deadline has been extended to April 12th. Additionally the Client asked me to pass along this note...

"I have really appreciated all of the entries so far and the accommodations applicants have made at our request. However, I would like to request a different approach.

Please think simple, elegant and professional. Okay to use 'MD' in logo or a symbol that you think conveys life or hope. Colors as you see fit, but monochromatic also fine. Company name is Maggie DiNome, MD, A Medical Corporation (or Inc.).

Again, think simple, elegant and professional. Looking through some of the applicants' websites, I'd like to trust them to use their imagination rather than give strict guidelines because I really liked what I had seen."

Thank you!

Finally, if it's not too much trouble, can you make an outline of a business card with one of the versions, just so I can see what it may look like? The information I would want on it would include:

Chief, General Surgery, Saint John's Hospital
General Surgery and Surgical Oncology
