Hello,
Contest prize is $75 + a t-shirt.
We initially came to this website to simply have a contest for an image of a stack of pancakes, believing that the design for a t-shirt that we had already came up with was pretty good. We felt silly simply asking for an image of pancakes though, and realize that a better job could be done if it's all put in context of its intended use. So, while we're still looking for an image of pancakes, helping us position them in relation to our text and logo can make all the difference, and if someone comes up with a layout we like better than our original design, then we have no problems scrapping our layout for the winner's.
Here's what we're looking for:
1. On the shirt, most likely in the upper right corner, would be our logo (thanks PennyLn!)
2. Across the top of the t-shirt in large letters would read: "STACKED" (yes, we want to be ever-so-slightly suggestive  )
3. Below the word "STACKED" would be a stack of pancakes on a plate or in an inbox (see #5) (no butter or syrup necessary -- we are emphasizing pancakes -- but if the stack of pancakes looks really good with butter and/or syrup, we'll accept it.)
4. Below the stack of pancakes would be the words "against spam" (that's our claim to fame that we are publicizing next month, an email system that defeats all spam.)
5. Bonus points for a stack of pancakes in an "inbox" that we like, -- we'd prefer an inbox to a plate, unless we feel it won't be completely obvious to someone viewing the t-shirt being worn. Since people are not necessarily used to seeing pancakes in an inbox, we will accept a plate over a not-so-obvious inbox.
6. Any font in any color is acceptable if it is extremely legible and suggests the playful manner of the t-shirt. We want the word "STACKED" to register in people's minds in the suggestive sense before they have had an opportunity to think or look the rest of the shirt over, and the text color shouldn't clash with the pancake image or our logo.
Our plan was to have the word "STACKED" be prominently displayed with the stack of pancakes right *there* to offset the initial suggestive impression we hope to give. After viewers give a second look, the rest of the phrase "against spam" and our logo would register. Admins permitting, you can view a copy of our initial layout at this link: http://customink.com/cink/r.jsp?E=customin...om&F=pancakem02 (http://customink.com/cink/r.jsp?E=customink.com%40corp.pancakemail.com&F=pancakem02)
Note that we used the only image of pancakes that the website had available in it's clipart library.
We will also send a shirt to the winner if s/he is interested, and provides with a tshirt size and mailing address with the final image file(s). We anticipate ordering shirts right after the contest ends, so estimated delivery would be early to mid December. Credit for the shirt design will be noted on our website, too.
As for a deadline, we estimate that 28 November 2003 (at 11:59PM EST for those literal type) would be good, unless of course, there's enough activity to justify extending it.
One final thought before I go pass out --
if someone wants to get adventurous, it occurred to me that for the context of this design, a design that included two, strategically placed stacks of pancakes, maybe one in an inbox and the other in an outbox (??) could work as well. In this case, well-placed pats of butter and a 'layer' of syrup would be significantly more appropriate, I would think... the more "innocently suggestive", the more we'll like it!
Any further questions, please ask. Thanks!
