Non-profit organization founded in November 2006.
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Simple and recognizable image that is professional but “fun”.
The current logo/image was designed by a child – and unfortunately looks like it. The organization is growing and and thriving but needs an eye-catching yet professional logo to use in its online and print communications and promotions.
Simple, youthful, yet professional logo.
What are your long term goals?
Expand the number of educational and performance-based theatrical learning opportunities for young people in our community.
Develop a recurring and committed cadre of patrons and supporters.
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?

Parents, family members, kids, teachers, members of the community, and performance enthusiasts of all ages.
Who would you like to add to your audience?
Would like to increase the number of business and community members in Ames and the surrounding communities.
What type of logo would you like?
The current logo is complicated and has too many colors. We desire a more simplified logo in one or two colors. Or – a colorful logo that transfers easily to a one-color image for print materials and ease of duplication. The current logo is attached. You will quickly see how seriously we need a new logo!
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo?
The current color theme for our organization is primarily burgundy, yellow, white and black (www.storytheatercompany.org). However, we are completely open to other color recommendations.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
No – the only identity requirement is STORY THEATER COMPANY of Ames. What we have now is impossible to work with for ad specialty products and print media.
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Performance/theater opportunities for children and young adults.
What is your tagline or slogan?
Celebrating the talents of Iowa's children
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
Story Theater Company is an organized, professional and fun educational program that introduces and encourages young people to become and stay involved in the performing arts.
Where will your new logo be used?
Website, Print Materials, Media Advertisement, Flyers, Letterhead, and Displays
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
Ames Children’s Theater (no image, no website) - selective participants, not necessarily community based
Judge Story Theatrical Troupe – Clean, professional website – but nothing special. No definable logo.
Just by looking at our competitors, you can see the challenge with our name and image. Ames, Iowa is in Story County. We need to avoid Ames Children’s anything because of Ames Children’s Theater – and we have challenges with Story anything because Judge Story Theatrical Troupe is based in Story City – 20 miles north of Ames. I believe our name had more to do with Story (as in story telling) than our county – but we are committed to serving Ames and the surrounding communities in and near Story County. Going on four years, we don’t want to abandon “Story Theater Company” but feel it is necessary with the new logo to add “of Ames” to differentiate us from Judge Story Theatrical Troupe and Ames Children’s Theater.

Both Actors and ISU Theater do recruit children for some performances. The relationship between Story Theater Company and both Actors and ISU Theater is positive and collaborative

Performance staff and educators primarily from university theater department.
Year-round opportunities for young people include three mainstage productions annually plus classes, summer camps, and workshops.
