Has anyone come across a holding page they actually like the look off? Most are usually crappy and turn the visitor off.
I have to put up a holding page for a client, with a set amount of text, and an email capture box.
The site has no logo, no design, and plain text just looks plain rubbish!
So im loooking for inspiration, anyone any ideas?

If there is no logo, I just make a simple page with an image that relates to their business or their product..
It can be simple yet attractive... set a table with a css border to offset it..

I usually don't like them due to functionality, but for my site I did it to let people know who were on 800 X 600 to enter at their own risk and people on dialup to not even bother. www.placidminds.com (http://www.placidminds.com)
Recording Artist Dishwalla wanted a splash page, so I gave them one that fit the design of the internal site. www.dishwalla.com (http://www.dishwalla.com)
Personally I don't agree with them, but in the Entertainment industry they are loved for some reason. Especially the movie side of things.

Thanks for the feedback, I might try your idea D-M, but my design skills are useless and everytime I try something like that it just doesnt look right.
Xteriormotive, its not a permanent thing, basically the client already has links coming to the new site (domain only went live today) and as the design and everything isnt going to be finished for a few weeks as I jsut started the contest, I want to put a temporary page up.
Just with some txt in case google comes round, and an email capture form so that "get emailed when teh site goes live" type of thing.
I dont think im in a design mood today, nothing I tried worked and after a good stress I went for a walk, but it didnt help!
