Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Officially the company name is "Brainstorm Computers and Technology Inc". However will will be operating under "Brainstorm Kingston" as well.

I would like to see the logo maximize the "brainstorm" part so that we can adjust the sub title if need be between locations

What type of product or service do you offer?
Computer Support, Laser Engraving, Electronics Lab

How long have you been in business?
New venture

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Log that can be identified by its icon, so that we can etch it or print it sans text and have people recognize it.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer? June 7th for now....

Audience Profile:
small business, young to old.

target logo style is young/new but NOT hacker/gamer/extreme

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Company stuff so far has revolved around , light grey blues, blues, and whites.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?

Had an artist I like design an icon that we would like see incorporated into the logo or 'inspired by' if that makes sense. ... BUT not married to the idea, very open to not using it.
http://www.brainstormkingston.com/

!! It is very important that the logo still look ok when processed down to black white. !! The one at my site when thresholded still looks good in black and white but I still like the color gradients for regular printing.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business? techy, roboty, professional ! theres a mix of words.

What is your tagline or slogan? None really. 'Computers, Lasers, Fun' is the unofficial corporate mantra :-)

Where will your new logo be used? Business card, print, flyers, engraved.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Computers, Lasers, Fun.

Our business idea/model is pretty abtract. Common link between our offerings is mainly a love of technology.

I like the idea of leaning toward a futuristic art deco. kind of futurama esqe. I like the idea of the shop being like an old repair shop from the 50's ... but staffed with robots !

I see that style as allowing me to keep the advertising fun and new but have that classic back drop that stays recognizable by older generations.

Appreciate any ideas you designers have!

Hello Shawn!

BlueCherry:
We definitely like the take on the robot logo. We can see the simple shapes making it much easier to deal with engravings and other build items. I am wondering how it would look if you changed the * to a sine wave (40hz if you need strangly specific) and possibly added a lighting bolt to the inside of the helmet? (similar to the graphic on the link I provided) nothing of color just a simple cutout in the shape of a bolt similar to the eyes ... if that make sense.

Coffeegirl: Like the text layout but the robot is def giving off a heavy cylon vibe :-) , also we need to keep any designs flat and facing the viewer so that they can be actually cut into objects like a stencil. I think the 3rd dimension would cause a speed bump with that.

pracus: like the color combo and simplicity of the log but unfortnatly everytime we have tried to make a 'brain' based logo work it never looks right without the text. We need the logo to be easily identifiable withouth the text and every time we have a brain (we have go through alot of brain logo ideas) the responses always include a 50% mix of walnut and man part jokes ... :-/

All:

Something that is very imporant is that the logos look right on a colored backdrop. So we would need any logo to look the same on all background colors (for tshirt printing, web design and so on) . When I quickly replace white with color on all of these they take on different feel and dont look right as good. We would definitly need an outline layer of sorts to make it work on colored back. Similar to the white on this android logo

I appreciate all the ideas so far. Sorry I didn't realize this was a holiday weekend for the states and I am told alot of other countries. As a small business owner my days blur together...

v3 with outline around my 'thinking cap' icon if you don't like the circle/emblem method of setting it off from the background

Wow, so many great ideas. Have been bouncing the new ones off everyone I can here for feedback.

We definitely want to stick with the style of logo from cherrygraphics and brunocalvin. Everyone here seems to be on the same page in that reguard. The simple single layer designs with the 2d face on perspective will work best with the laser system as well as other advertising items.

The pracus design is def 3rd on the list but has been called "too cute" a few times now. it has a mousy look that is more kid aged robot friend so to speak :-)

cherrygraphics:
Continuing with version 2 can you please reduce the sine wave by 50% or so to make it less prominent and change the lighting bolt out with one a little smaller that has less jaggs.

I am thinking something like the webding font charactor. In this pic, the 2nd to last column, 6th row down.

brunocalvin: Do you have any thoughts on if the pic can be changed to be less ... gas masky? It kind of has a feel of cold war era warning sign.

thank you to everyone for your awesome ideas!

After much review and talking we have decided to go with the cherrygraphics design. The recognizable simplicity will work the best for our promotional materials and fits the best with the general design type we want to stick with.

I appreciate everyones great input and have already recommended designoutpost to a few other business people I work with.

Cherrygraphics:
We would like to have you merge v2 and v4. We would like the v2 circle outline and the v4 head. But with the version 4 sine wave cropped horizontally by ~ 25%. And the lighting bolt made slightly thicker.

Thank you all again. -Shawn

you will be providing vector art anyway correct? We can make small adjustments as required.

BlueCherryGraphics

Yes, there will be vector AI, EPS, and PDF files.

If you have the bolt you want to use, though, you can just email it to me and I'll use it.

Hi,

I couldn't open the file you sent. I am sending a version like what's below to you via email. I left the bolt area blank so that you can play with sizing.

If you are OK with that version, let me know and I can deliver all files. Or I can try to get the bolt to the size/shape you want if you prefer.

Just let me know.

Thanks!
