I am in the process of developing a website very similar to Groupon.com and Tippr.com. The name of my business is grooful (all lower case).<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
The website is a group purchasing website that leverages the group's power to drive larger discounts. The focus is on family products/services. The basic premise is that as more people buy the product/service, the discount becomes bigger. There is a qualifying threshold (meaning that no one will be committed to the purchase until X number of people buy it). Once the threshold is met, the discounts become larger as more people buy. <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
The website is in the process of being developed, so I'm not tied to a specific design at this point.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Designs that I like: I have a very eclectic pallet. I like retro looks (i.e. 1950's -1960's); modern (very clean and simple), I'm open to color (as long as it's not overwhelming and makes brand sense), for some reason I'm drawn to Splendid 66 font (this is not needed, just a like).<o:p></o:p>
I would like a logo that incorporates a symbol and the brand name (i.e. groopful). For example, the nike "swoosh" and the word Nike. <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
My intent is to use the symbol as part of my brand and build into marketing collateral.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
I'm excited to work with someone who is creative and can put my words into a action.<o:p></o:p>

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Response: The primary text I would like included is the company name: groopful. I'm open to including the tag line.
What type of product or service do you offer?
Response: The business is a collective buying group. It leverages group purchases on given products/services to drive larger discounts to the buyers.
How long have you been in business?
Response: The business is new. It will be launched within 3 months.
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Response: The goal is to build a brand around group buying that focuses on family oriented products/services.
What are your long term goals?
Response: The long term goal is to build the company as the premium destination for family oriented collective buying.
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
Response:The initial deadline is June 13th. This may be extented at some point.
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
Response: Since this is a new business, there is not an existing audience/customer base. The target customer base is families that are located in large to medium sized cities who are looking for new products/services/experiences at a low price.
Who would you like to add to your audience?
Response: Please see above answer.
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Response: I want a symbol (i.e. nike swoosh, starbuck crest, etc) and the word "groopful" as the logo. Beyond that, I have a very eclectic pallet. I like retro looks (i.e. 1950's -1960's); modern (very clean and simple), I'm open to color (as long as it's not overwhelming and makes brand sense), for some reason I'm drawn to Splendid 66 font (this is not needed, just a like). I'm totally open to the creative process to see what the designers come up with.
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Response: I'm open to colors. However, it has to make brand sense. I dont want every color of the rainbow in the logo.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
Response: No. I'm hoping the designers will create the images/icons for my brand.
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Response: I want the idea of "groups" (i.e. via families, large groups, etc) and potentiall "savings/deals" portrayed. Beyond that, I'm open.
What is your tagline or slogan?
Response: The company tag line is "Tell friends. Save money. Be groopful!".
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
Response: That this company is the ideal destination for families to buy new products/services/experiences a drive a larger discount.
Where will your new logo be used?
Response: Primarily on the website and potentially used with other marketing collateral (i.e. flyers, handouts, emails, stickers, etc).
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
Response: Groupon.com (I like their clean modern logo), Tippr.com (don't like their logo. Doesn't convey the right message to me), and Livingsocial.com (I like their logo. Very clean).
List competitive URLs if possible Please see above
What sets you apart from your competitors?
Response: My company focuses on families vs. young single urbanities. I will be focusing on large and midmarkets. Not just large markets.
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Family focused deals

Nordy,
Thank you for taking the time to create and submit some initial ideas. Your first submission is my favorite. I like that the icon is subtle (I didn't catch that it was a group of people initially) and contemporary. Also, I like the color choices. Before I make a final decision, I'd like to see what else is submitted. Thanks!

Xpressions,
I really like where you're going with this one. I'm not sure that I'm sold on the "cart" idea (kind of looks like a dump truck) but I like the rest of it a lot. How about incorporating the tag from first submission around the tag line of this logo?

Xpressions,
Initially, this was my favorite. I like the approach. I get it. The only thing I'm worried about is the fact that there are so many circles within the tag. I'm afraid that the customer would lose focus and not realize that the "oo" of groopful was in it. I like the colors. I would be interested in seeing an update version of this; or an incorporated version of this with your other submission.

Platre,
Thank you for taking the time to respond. I think the design for this series of logos is a bit too sparse and simple. Thank you.

Thanks for the submission. This is interesting. I think the "oo" are a bit too small for the graphics inside of them.

Thank you everyone for participating with my request. There were a lot of great submissions. I have made my decision on who I would like to award the business. I would like to move forward with Xpressions.
Xpressions:
I would like to discuss a few minor changes to one of the submissions. I'm not sure what the correct forum to do that is. Please let me know. Thanks!

Annie,
Thanks for the quick reply. I'd like to move forward with your version 2.0; however, I really like the color combination and color effect of Platre's version 1. Can you please change the colors to that found within Platre's version 1? Additionally, I like the effect of it (i.e. it looks like it's highlighed or something). Can you also do that effect?
Thanks,
Jeremy

Yes, I can change the color and provide a version with the effects. I will have a draft for your review in the morning. :)

Thanks! I'm looking forward to seeing it. One additonal thing I just thought of....can you please add the "tm" (i.e. trademark) symbol at the end?
Thanks again

Annie,
Thank you for the quick turn around! This looks great. Let me review it in more detail once I get home from work this evening.
Quick question....
What format will you be providing me the final product? If possible, I would like a high resolution version, a .gif/.jpg version and if there is a specific requirement for a website I would need that version. Is that possible? :-D
Thanks again for all of your hard work!
