Hi guys, My name is Jeff. I recently came across designoutpost.com while performing my freelance site search of the net. DO as many of you seem to be comming to call it, is by far the best freelance site I have yet to find on the net. The competiting for clients in my opinion is the best way to keep the designing game fun. And what better way to do that then on a forum, along side your competitors.

Anyways, I would very much like to become a design team member. I am preparing my portfolio right now. I was just wondering if any of you had any suggestions or tips for maximizing my odds of becoming a DO team member.

Thank in advance, I look forward to working along side all of you.
Hope to see you in the design forums soon,

Jeff.

The odds of become a logo designer here at DO are fairly slim. We have a pretty full house in that department.

As I understand it, Palmer (the owner) is in need of quality template designers to join the talented individuals already competeing in that arena. My advice: set up a nice online presentation of your work and sit back and wait. Palmers gets TONS of applications so it can take a while to get an official invite as there are many talented people eager to join.

Best piece of advice: don't constantly PM Palmer with questions regarding your application. He has lots to deal with and you don't want to come off looking like a pest. If you have quality work to show and it fits an open slot on the design team, you'll likely get an invite.

Hi Jeff

El Kootcho's right that we're pretty full right now in the logo designer department, but don't let that stop you from applying. If you're good, you'll get in eventually. D.O. is growing all the time and the more contests we have running on a regular basis, the more designers we need.

Here's some advice for putting your work samples togther: Show as much diversity as possible. For example (in addition to logos), show some illustrations if you can do illustrations (it seems we're often in need of illustrators); show some web templates/sites you've designed if you do that (we always need web designers); and show a sampling of miscellaneous graphic work. Obviously logos and templates are the main focus here, but the more variety you have in your work, the more likely you'll be to be able to fill a needed slot here at D.O.

Good luck!

You can do the above or just pay me $150 or 10% of all winnings and I will get you on the team :D

Good luck with the application :)

:) I wish it was as easy as the 10% option.

Thank alot for your suggestions. As it happens I am attempting to join the Template section of the DO Team. I will be sure to add lots of diversity to my portfolio thank again for the suggestions guys.
