Project Summary
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Unique Exposure Photography

What type of product or service do you offer?
For now the focus is on real estate photography. Realtors will hire us to take professional photos of homes and the photos will be posted in the MLS listing.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
A clean, simple logo that can be utilized on various media (web, business cards, stationary) that can be adapted to various photography disciplines. Most importantly, the logo will help define the business and get us started in creating our identity.

What are your long term goals?
The main long term goal is to build relationships with realtors so they continually request our service to take photos of the homes they are selling. The business will be focused on real estate photography, however in the long term the business could expand to other photography disciplines. Although it isn't 100% necessary, a long term goal for the logo itself would be to design it in such a way where today it symbolizes real estate photography, but very small changes can be made down the road to symbolize other areas of photography while maintaining the base overall feel for the logo/company.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
Sunday, September 12th, 2010

Audience Profile:
Who would you like to add to your audience?
Initially we will target For Sale By Owner Sellers and Realtors. Due to the economy and housing market, I see the business catering to realtors that sell a lot of homes and are too busy to take their own photographs, instead of the realtor that has 3-4 listings. The business might also specifically target realtors that consistently have higher-priced homes for sale.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Clean, Simple, Modern. The business as well as the employees are young, so it should look fresh and new.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Not particularly. Possibly yellow as it is said to evoke a buying emotion and people are urged to use yellow flowers, etc when preparing their house for sale. Using yellow could be a way to link the photography business to real estate, however I am not sure of the ramifications of using yellow on various types of media. I am very open to another color, but would like to keep additional colors to a minimum. One, maybe two colors. They can be bold and fun.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
With this business the first idea that pops in mind is a camera and a house. Any portion of a camera and any portion of a house would be acceptable, as long as it's clear what the object is. As stated in the long term goal above, this is where the logo could adapt to various disciplines by continuing the camera theme and changing the discipline portion (the house in this case).

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Professional, clean, prompt, great customer service.

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
Professional photos are an important part of the real estate business and with great photos, potential home buyers are more inclined to come visit the home. Maximum amount of traffic being drawn to the home due to great photos increases the probability of selling the home quickly.

Where will your new logo be used?
Web, business cards, stationary, watermark over photos.

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
Here are two competitor logos. The logos lack the professionalism I am looking for.

http://matrixtours.com/images/newlogo1.gif

http://realestatedisplayed.com/storage/redisplyd35H.jpg

What sets you apart from your competitors?
Customer service. Small company, few employees, so it's a very direct relationship with clients.
Instead of offering virtual tours to impress clients, our company offers professional photos that show a clear picture of what the home has to offer to potential buyers. We take our time to get professional photographs, instead of shooting as fast as possible to get in and out.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Customer-oriented professional real estate photography.

Thanks and good luck to the designers that decide to participate!

Tyler,

Thanks for jumping in on this.

I really like the color scheme you have chosen. I think gold/yellow will go great with grey.

I like the idea of using the shutter blades as both a photography representation and an abstract U for Unique, however if the logo was presented by itself without the text I am afraid the photography reference might not be as clear as I would like.

I also like the concept of the building imagery, however I think it is a little too corporate/sky scraper/retail for the business. I would like to represent more of the homes/spaces that we will be taking photos of which are single family homes. In the building imagery, I would prefer a more simplistic color like the bottom left version. I like the simplicity of the solid color compared to the gradient.

I think the font selection is great.

I don't want to force the designers down a specific path, but I might prefer a horizontal layout versus the vertical layout.

Thanks again for submitting this entry Tyler.

elogonics,

Thank you for your entry! I appreciate the linkage between home and photography, however I think due to the abundance of digital cameras these days the film strip to me implies video instead of still photography. I like the incorporation of the U in the film strip, but the house seems a little cluttered where the roof meets the base of the house. It seems too compact.

I like the color scheme, I think it would work well for us.

I prefer the font from Tyler's entry. I like the square edges versus the round edges, as it seems more clean and defined.

Thanks Tyler for Version 2.0.

This is much more in line with what we are after. I really like the idea of the house in the middle of the camera. To me it represents the reflection of the house that you would see in the lens as we take the photo.

Currently I think the house is dwarfed by the big shutter symbol. Could you please modify Version 2.0 so the house is on more of an even paying field with the camera in terms of size?

Thanks Tyler!

Thanks Tyler, I appreciate your adjustments. I agree that it's a balancing act to keep everything looking cohesive.

I like v2.1, I think the compromise works very well. Could I please see a v2.1 with the shutter button moved to the left side, and also adjust the color of the button to match the grey of the camera body?

Thanks again for your work so far Tyler!

Thanks for entering xpressions!

You definitely hit the nail on the head in regards to what the business does. The tripod is a great idea especially with the shadow effect, but I think it makes it a little too busy. The house on top with the shutter symbol is great and representative of real estate photography.

The font is great, however the spacing between letters is a little too compact. It is a little difficult to read due to its size and spacing.

I like the adaptability to other photography disciplines that exists in Tyler's latest version. I think it would be easy to maintain the brand across multiple platforms with minimal adjustments in Tyler's version that I think might be a little difficult with your entry.

Thanks xpressions!

Tyler,

Could we please see a couple of slight modifications? We are curious to see what it would look like:

v2.4) without the multiple pitch in the roof of the home.

v2.5) without the multiple pitch in the roof of the home and without the chimney.

Thanks,

Lance

Thank you for your entry nhr. We like the simplicity and the colors look great. However we feel the logo is a little too abstract to stand on its own representing our business.

Thanks for your time & entry Ron. Unfortunately I don't see this vision working for our business. I think it is difficult relating the image of the man to real estate photography. I can see the home elements but I am having a difficult time pinpointing the photography elements.

Thanks,

Lance

Thanks for both of your entries Glyphica!

Version #1
We like how the company is reflected in the logo emblem. It really helps drive the name of the business in the logo. We find it is lacking a photography element that we have seen in some of the other entries.

Version #2
We like the font in this one, especially the bolded Unique treatment like nhr also provided. Although we like the look of the circles and think it is a neat design, it again falls into the category of not being represented of the two elements in our business: real estate and photography.

Thanks again for your time glyphica, it is much appreciated.

Actually version #2 is houses if you take a closer look and the circle is an abstract shutter :) I will give it another try and post tomorrow.

Glyphica:

We are really excited by Version #4. We love the simplicity with a splash of modern elements and we like having the Unique portion in a heavier weighted font. There is only one slight draw back to your design and I would like to see if you could come up with a different variation while keeping the overall look very similar to version #4.

Instead of having the house outside of the aperture/camera element, could you please try to enlarge the camera element and place the house portion inside? Doing this will allow us to adjust the house portion to something else in the future should the business branch to other photography disciplines. I am concerned with attempting this variation because I like how the house is currently also acting like the body of a camera. I'm afraid the adjustment will cause the aperture element to lose its symbolism.

Maybe you have another idea to play off Version #4 that would open options for adjusting it in the future to different types of photography?

Rongie:

Thank you for your time on your 2nd entry. Unfortunately I don't think this will fit our business. We like the incorporation of the house in the camera lens, however the camera itself is a little overwhelming to us. We are leaning more toward the simple and sometimes abstract camera elements in some of the other entries.

Great thanks a lot glyphica. For the last adjustment to Version #5, could we please see it with a greyish/blue color? Something along the lines of the K in the following image, but a tad brighter:

Glyphica, with the blue/greyish color, could we also please see the following adjustments? I hope they are not too much editing for you.

Version #6: Same as Version #5, changing gold to blue/grey, and removing the arrow from the right side of the bottom swooping line. The right side of the swooping line can match the left side, with just a pointed end.

Version #7: Keeping blue/grey theme, but removing the swooping line from the bottom. So just show the aperture/camera element with the house on the inside.

Thanks glyphica!
