Thanks for your help! We can really use your talents! We are a new parent group that will be conducting our first membership drive this semester and we need a nice logo that will reflect positively on our group and help us raise the awareness and funds that we need to accomplish our mission.
Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
GC SAGE
We are calling the group SAGE, but had to register as GC-SAGE with the IRS. I guess we have to include GC as part of the logo, but if we can make it less prominent than SAGE, that would be good. The acronym stands for Grapevine Colleyville-Supporting & Advocating for Gifted Education and of course the word sage also means wise through experience.
What type of product or service do you offer?
We are a parent group whose mission is to ensure gifted children in our school district reach their fullest potential by advocating on their behalf; connecting parents to valuable resources and to each other; and by educating and supporting their teachers and administrators.
How long have you been in business?
We are just forming. We will focus on elementary education first but hope to expand to middle and high school support one day.
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
With statewide budget cuts in public schools we’re concerned that programs within our school district for children who are gifted will be cut. We hope to use our identity to advocate on behalf of these children at school board meetings and to raise private funds from parents to supplement the teachers who have these kids in their classrooms. Research has shown that gifted kids who are not challenged in the classroom not only fail to achieve their potential but can actually struggle in school despite higher than average IQs. Many adults who struggled in school as kids were actually gifted kids who were never identified and didn’t get appropriately challenging school work.
What are your long term goals?
A. To increase awareness and sensitivity of parents, teachers, school administrators and the public to the intellectual, social and emotional needs of gifted and talented students;
B. To encourage and support our school district in its efforts to provide a qualitatively differentiated educational program by which each student may advance toward his/her fullest potential;
C. To provide a chain of communication between our group, the community, the district administration and staff, the School Board, and all who are interested in the needs of gifted students;
D. To provide a base for disseminating information about giftedness and available resources;
E. To provide a support forum for parents of gifted and talented students and to encourage parents’ participation in public education and other programs for gifted children;
F. To locate, utilize and create resources for educational opportunities for all persons interested in gifted and talented education;
G. To be an advocate in supporting local, state, and national legislative programs that benefit education for gifted and talented students; and
H. To act as a center for the exchange of ideas with other groups interested in education for the gifted.

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
Parents of gifted children within our school district
Who would you like to add to your audience?
District educators and community/business leaders in our area that will benefit from this talented pool of children as they grow into productive members of our community
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
I’m on the fence about whether we need to include the acronym gcSAGE in our logo or if we can do a stand alone. Regardless we’ll probably almost always spell it out as well underneath as Grapevine Colleyville-Supporting & Advocating for Gifted Education
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Not really, unless we use the sage herb in which case green would be a logical choice. For cost savings, it needs to be a one color logo, perhaps with shading or reversed out to make it appear more than one. I would like for it to copy well in black and white.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Well organized and educated
What is your tagline or slogan?
SAGE stands for Supporting and Advocating for Gifted Education. GC was added when we registered to reflect our location of Grapevine/Colleyville.
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
We would like to be seen as gifted education experts and used as a resource by parents and educators.
Where will your new logo be used?
Letterhead and web
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
Some will see us as competitors of the local PTA, but I don’t really think so.
What sets you apart from your competitors? We are focusing on gifted education for the district where local PTAs support campus by campus.
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company: Gifted education advocacy
