Looking for a simple, fun but professional header to place on our new website: http://www.birt<wbr>handbabyfair.dr<wbr>eamhosters.com/ (http://www.birthandbabyfair.dreamhosters.com/)

Project Summary:

What text should be included in the main part of the header?
San Francisco Birth & Baby Fair

What type of product or service do you offer?
We produce the San Francisco Birth & Baby Fair. (old site www.birthandbabyfair.com (http://www.birthandbabyfair.com))

Misc. Notes/Overview:
We will be adding text to the header ourselves that we may change regularly. Initially it will say San Francisco Birth & Baby Fair

We need Space to float the logo of our main event sponsor over the header image. It will be approximately 130x130 please put in a place holder

How long have you been in business?
Since 2006.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
We want to portray a more professional appearance.

What are your long term goals?
To be the Bay Area’s foremost event for new & expecting parents and to produce other types of family events.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
1 week from posting date

Audience Profile: Please describe your existing audience
New & expecting bay area parents with a concentration in San Francisco. Parents that are dedicated to making the best decisions for their families.

Who would you like to add to your audience?
Friends and family members of expecting parents. More people from the greater bay area not just San Francisco

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of header would you like?
Warm, clean and sophisticated, not too busy. We may produce other events in the future so although we want to highlight the SF Birth & Baby Fair right now we’d like the header to be general enough to work for other types of events.

Do you have any colors and size in mind for your header? (if so, why?)
Colors that compliment our logo see attached

Size between 1300 x 160px and 1300 x 300px

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your header?
Use of a picture (or pictures) from our past events is preferred but not required. Refer to http://birthandbabyfair.com/photos.html and use any of those.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Warm, Professional, Local, Part of the community, Family focused

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
That we produce the PREMIER event for new and expecting parents in San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area. The Birth and Baby Fair showcases local businesses and resources as well as independent designers with the aim to educate and expose new & expecting parents and young families to unique & beneficial products & services.

Where will your new header be used?
Across the top of the every page on the website, in the header position,

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
We would like to be unique, more boutique style than the generic blue/pink/yellow color scheme.

more like:

http://www.babytimeexpo.com/ http://www.utahbabyfair.com/
http://www.indybabyexpo.com/

less like:

http://www.yeahbabyexpo.com/
http://www.itsababyexpo.com/

What sets you apart from your competitors?
Most similar events are either very large & corporate focused or local but really small. Ours is growing rapidly but we are dedicated to keeping a local focus and promoting bay areas services and retailers

Targeted Message:
Everything local for your bay area baby

Extra notes:

We’d really like to leave the direction of the creativity up to the designer. We’re looking for some thing we wouldn’t/couldn’t come up with our selves.

Let me know if you have any questions, otherwise good luck!

Thanks for the submission Will. We we're starting to wonder if anyone had any ideas. ;)

This is not the direction we want to go in however. We are looking for something a little cleaner, and more sophisticate and less traditionally cutesy "baby". We would like to steer FAR away from pink or blue as well.

Think more upscale modern.

Pictures from our past event would be nice too if possible

We also need room in the header to place and "banner ad" from our events sponsors It will be approximately 130x130 please put in a place holder for it.

I'd like to see the header be a bit taller as well to make more of a statement on the page. It can be up to anywhere from 1300x160 to 1300x300. 160 is feeling a little narrow.

Thanks. I'm looking forward to seeing what else you designers come up with.

Some other sites we like elements of

http://www.prenatalyogacenter.com/cmps_index.php (not the colors just the idea of the images)

I've also tried to work a concept, but I didn't finish it yet.

A few questions:

1. Does the header need to be surrounded by a white border (like the attached image)? You're using html tables right now, and that limits your options. Are you comfortable with making some html/css changes if needed?

2. Can I change the background of the whole site and make the header blend with it? like: http://www.indybabyexpo.com/ (http://www.indybabyexpo.com/) (This will involve changing the html structure of your site.

3. Can I also include the menu in the redesign? It's pretty dull right now and it limits the design options.

4. What will happen on resolutions bigger that 1300px? Do we need to create a repeating pattern? As a personal note - Your site is pretty hard to follow on big resolutions. I suggest you put a max-width on it.

5. There are no images at: http://birthandbabyfair.com/photos.html. Can you please check?

I'll continue to work on it tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.

Cheers,
Silviu
