Project Summary:
This is for a rebranding of my existing business. Here is my logo as it stands right now (the file is also attached at the bottom of the post:
www.dolcephotographyct.com
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
little dolce
(if you could incorporate and interchangeable bracket to use for different kinds of shoots, that would be great! {babies} {families} {children} )
What type of product or service do you offer?
newborn and family portraiture
How long have you been in business?
(4 years.. but will be opening up this new venture focusing on portraits… prior had been on weddings)
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
a marketable and memorable branding
What are your long term goals?
to become a fixture in the local newborn photography market
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
March 31
Audience Profile:
target audience= higher-end clientele
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
text-based with a vintage embellishment
I already have an existing logo which needs to be taken into consideration. I will be using both logos in conjunction with one another to represent both my wedding business (original logo) and new business (the little dolce logo).
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
bluish gray (muted tone), gray, white
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
On my original logo, I have a tree/cherry blossom decal attached to the “d” in dolce which might be something that can be played on…
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
innocent, vintagey feel
Where will your new logo be used?
Online presence and printed materials
Here is an inspiration board we came up with:

pracus- Thank you for your submission! Here is what I like: I like that you kept the same font as my original logo. That will be a must! :)
What I'm not crazy about is that it is a little too busy. I'd like to limit the design to three colors- blueish gray, white, and black/gray. (maybe one accent color-tbd)
I also would like to see a design that is more linear- straight across.
I would also love to see a play on the heart hanging from the tree as in my inspiration board.
Hope this helps! :)

pracus: i like the heart on the string, but I still feel like the branch is too busy. any way to simplify this concept?
nustcreative: thank you for your contribution! I like the concept, but I feel like the little is a little too strong in the design. and the green color should be more blueish gray.
all- I'd like to see {babies} next to dolce, not on top of dolce. and just a reminder that the mood we are going for is soft and vintage...
Thanks again!!! so exciting to see these come alive!

nutscreative: that is definitely more of the color we had in mind! :) Not sure I'm feeling the tree. Maybe I should modify my inspiration board now that I see these things on the screen!

nutscreative: love the simplicity, but the top of the d doesn't really draw me in. here's the thing, I love my original logo... I just want to make it more suited for the children's side of my business. hope this helps!

what if we used my original and did something with a daintly string which was tied and made the heart on a string the dot on the "i" in little?

Hi, you mean keep existing "d" graphics and add graphics to "i" of little? Can you provide original logo in illustrator vector format?:)

maaaybe we can do less of the tree on the d to make the heart more of a focal point?

Hello. Yes, that is correct. :) I will revise and post for your review shortly.

xpressions: I think we definitely want to go with a variation on this design. Not sure what I do in terms of that for the post. But in thinking about revising... can I see more of the original branch position from the first logo? and a defininitive tie of sort where the string meets the branch? I'm thinking I would like to use the heart on the string tied to the branch as a standout symbol to define the branding, so I really want to get the heart right. Do you think we can go with a heart that isn't so bold, for starters?
for now, I think I'm good with the "little" but can we play with {babies} a little bit? we really wanted to incorporate some vintagey mood- can we do it with this part of the logo?
Thanks to everyone for their submissions! But we are going to proceed with xpressions!

the branches are PERFECT!!!! spot on!! and I LOVE the incorporation of the bow on the branch.
I like the babies part, but I am worried about it becoming too busy. hmmmm- let's play with some variations of this. I'd still like to see the bow and tie as more of a focal point. I don't have any idea how, but can we make that component a tie-in to the "babies" part? I like the idea of keeping the "little" and the "babies" the same font, to streamline.. although it's been my preference to keep it straight across, maybe, we need to experiment with the placement of "little" and "babies"
really excited about this direction!

Yes, it will start to get busy.....Let me see what I can do and will post for your review....

Ok, I modified the "babies" portion by just keeping the brackets instead of it being a whole frame, and changed the layout a bit. Let me know your thoughts. :)

I absolutely prefer the cool brackets. maybe we can try the "little" above the c and e, and is there any way to stretch out {babies} a little on the bottom?
although I like the heart being more of a focal point, I'm not sure about its placement. can we try a couple of different positions with the heart on a string. and btw: i love the heart on a string revision! perfect!

Here are a few other options. The differences are subtle. There aren't many other locations to place the heart:

hmm.. I'm not sure yet. Can I see this concept:
how about bringing little and babies back on either side of the dolce. then take the tie and tie one end to the "e" in little and the other end to the "b" in babies... then take the string and in a simple sweep, the heart can meet the two strings together under dolce. maybe one version with the heart in the middle.. and one version with the heart to one side.

and can I also see version 6 with the heart hanging closer to the branch above the letter?

I think I'm most liking 6.1-- I really love the new placement of the heart.
I really really love the fancy brackets, so it really pains me to say this.. but maybe can we see the design without the brackets? I want to include them, but I'm not sure- any suggestions??

03-30-2011, 06:52 AM
Yes: the d with heart works great and can be used as the standalone icon. Here is a version without the brackets:

wow! love the last one!! but I think we are going to go with 6.1!!! :)
would you be able to be able to give it to us with {families}, {children}, {babies}, and our website {www.dolcephotographyct.com}? If not, no biggie.. as long as you tell me the font, I could take care of the alternate versions! :)
woo hoo!
