Hello Everyone!

Sorry I have such a simple project, but it is important to me :P

I need the following logo to be developed for some tee shirts:

DEADLINE: Friday, 12/12/03

PRIZE: $50

BRAND: Eightfold

COPY VARIATIONS: You can use any of these variations of the brand name - Eightfold, Eightfold International, and/or Eightfold Intl.

USAGE: To use for logo print on tee shirts.

COLORS: Just one color print

DESCRIPTION: I would like it to have the same look and feeling as the Von Dutch logo (see attached file)…..I love this logo! It must have an early 1900’s industrial “motorhead” workwear feel. It should have the swirls that extend from the letters, sometimes connecting them together. I do like the combination of caps and lower case, but I have an open mind to other creative options ;)

NOTES: I have included 4 other logos to give a better idea of the look and feeling I am trying to achieve, and to help everyone with inspiration. Pls note that all these samples are someone else’s trademarks and not my property.

Thanks for the quick response :rolleyes:

Here are some comments:

- The font you used looks like it was created with a thick marker and has kind of a graffiti look.

- My original smpls look more like they used classic fonts and added some hand drawn details that extend from the letters. Yours looks a little too modern, I need it to look more vintage and authentic from the 1920's to 1950's era.

- The "swoosh" that you added at the end of the "d" should flow more naturally and look like it is an extension of the letter and not like an addition.

- If you are going to add the "intl" you need to use the same font used for the "eightfold" or one that better blends, like the "Oylers Ltd" smpl.

:brow: FYI - You don't have to use the black & yllw patch for the background. I would prefer if everyone would submit their logos in black on white ground with no patch shape, just like the 4 b&w smpls.

I hope my cmnts were clear and helpful, sometimes it is hard to describe design in words :look:

U can use the same cmnts I gave for Jon's first submit: :ermm:

Hi Mark!

Wow....your concept has great potential :tup:

I don't want to overwhelm you and waste your time with anal cmnts yet :bang: so here are some basic initial cmnts.

Your details and layout are looking hot, but the most crucial thing needs to happen first. You need to find a font that better matches the original Von Dutch font (the look, the thickness of the strokes, etc). Once you do this, then you can apply all your details and I can get real anal :wacko:

Hmm, the font I used *is* an original signwriter font from the late 40's - so I guess what you're looking for is a more 20's/30's feeling than 40's/50's ?

Considering how much you like the von Dutch logo, I though perhaps a good solution would be to print in yellow/gold ink on a brown T-Shirt. What do you think?

Hi Frank,

Yes, it seems that the fonts used for the original smpls are more from the early 1900's.

You can use "international" or "intl", but so far I have not really seen it being used in a manner that I like. I would like "intl" if it were layed out like the "Oylers" smpl.

Now that you mention it, I think you could find another font that better matches any of the original smpls. My favorite 2 smpls/fonts are the von dutch and the oylers.

Tks for the gesture, but I prefer if all posts are made in black & white :)

CMNTS:

- The font looks too delicate/light.
- The "F" should be in lower caps
- All the swoosh and curl details look way to similar to the Von Dutch smpl. Remember that the orig smpls r for inspiration, we can't copy exactly. I don't want to get one of those lovely lawsuits from the RIAA :eek: ....... just kiddin' :lol:

Tks for making some of the revisions but it's still not doing it for me. The font looks a little too delicate/feminine. I like how smoothly the swoosh blends with the "g" but I don't like the way it's attchd to the "d". The "f" is still crossing over the swoosh :(

My favorite logos/fonts are the Von Dutch and Oylers logos, and it seems to me that your font looks similar to the Roader Car logo. Do you have any fonts that are closer to those 2 logos? Can you do similar layouts? :huh:

Hi Frank,

Wow, I might have to add another logo to the current contest ;) I really like the last one with the red fill, though the fill and outlines really give it a different feeling than what we are looking for.

Anyway, can you use this font and emulate the same layout as the Oylers Ltd logo, including the same type of Oylers swoosh....I like the way it curls behind the letter "S" and it gets cut. If it works, maybe you can also include an option with the Intl in the same position as the Ltd.

Oh, can you also pls remove that triangle from the center of the letter "O".

Cool, looking better already!

- Do you have another font that is closer to the original? The font needs to be more condensed.

- Also, compare the "h" in your font and in the Von Dutch font. You see that the stroke in the Von Dutch font is more even, while yours has greater differences in stroke width within each letter.
