Hello Wonderful & Talented Designers!
I'm back again. My last two contest were such great fun, I had to try it again. :)
This time it's a postcard for our theater show, HOW WE FIRST MET, a unique interview/improv show, in which couples from the audience tell their stories, and we play them out right on the spot. We're looking to create a new postcard for the 2004 season.
The purpose of the postcard:
This will be used to mail-out to potential ticket buyers. Only the front side needs to be designed with someting that captures the flavor of the show and has the show's title, How We First Met (we're doing the layout for the other side which will have all the show information). You can use the show's logo (http://www.howwefirstmet.com/2004logoweb.jpg) in your design or opt not to.
Postcard Specs:
1-sided
5" x 8"
300 dpi Vector
Prints full color
Contest deadline: Monday, December 8th
What we're looking for:
- An upscale, fun, and interesting design
- We like rich reds, black, white, and gray
- We would like to convey the idea that this show appeals to diverse groups such as gay, straight, ethnic, old, young, etc.
- The show is funny but also can be very poignant
Helpful images:
Here's our new logo (http://www.howwefirstmet.com/2004logoweb.jpg).(We held a contest here and Raja won!). And you can view that logo contest here (http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/?showtopic=1473). This is a sneak peak (http://www.kincora.com/howwefirstmet/index.html) at our how our new website will look. We have the rights to use this image (http://www.howwefirstmet.com/Images/shoppingcarts.jpg), and here's the high res version (http://www.howwefirstmet.com/Images/shoppingcarts.bmp), which also might look good in b&w (http://www.howwefirstmet.com/howwefirstmet.jpg). And you can see our previous postcards here (http://www.howwefirstmet.com/presskit.htm). More info about the show at www.howwefirstmet.com.
We can't wait to see some of your fabulous designs!
Good luck!

Thanks for the submission! I like the color scheme, though we do need the show title, How We First Met, on the postcard. I think a design that somehow illustrates the concept of "how we met" might be a good approach. Also, feel free to use the logo and images I've listed in the first post.

Thanks for the submission!
Bill: Hello again! Still love that image from the logo contest--might be perfect for the postcard. Could you try swaping out the text with the the version of our logo against black? Here it is:

Sunil: Very creative idea! Although we are trying to get away from hearts. In the past we've been very tied to Valentine's Day. And while that's still one of our biggest days, we'd like to brand the show as something to go see throughout the year. And overall, I think we're looking for something a bit more sophisticated.

Jill,
I would love to work on this project for you today. Is there anyway you could include the logo (white and/or black background) and that high res image (shopping picture) in a zip file for me to download?
Thank you,
Jayson
Revised using official logo.

Great stuff!
Bill: Love it!
Jayson: Unfortunately, I'm on a dial-up at home this weekend. I wouldn't be able to zip and upload the image until Monday. If there's annyone on a fast connection, that can help with this, I'd really appreciate it!

piece_of mind: Nice design. And the colors are great. It's a bit too literal though. In general, we're going for something more upscale, and less cartoony. The show will play in a really cool cabaret setting. So, think plush, rich colors, cocktails...
Thanks for all the great work!

Wow, thanks for the submission. Nice work everyone!
Annia - This is really charming and cute. I like the colors a lot.
Amanda - This definitely has the sophisticated cocktail look. Nice job.
Sunil - This is nice, but we're looking for something a bit more sophisticated.
Jayson - This is great. We love the way you've broken out the color from the black and white Can you make a couple adjustments?
- remove the white outline from the couple.
- remove the lines around the white box containing the logo, and can you make two versions? One with the white box stretching across the entire image, and one with the white box fading out within the same size you have now.
Thanks for all the great work everyone!
