Hey, (Admin code added by Palmer - F101501X)
I have never done this before, so I am not sure if this is right. I payed using another e-mail address Admin, (brandon@nisusnet.com).
Anyways, here is what I need:
A logo from scratch that can be used both in print and digital. So 300 dpi, and I need the PSD at the end, or we can work something out. It need's to be something you would be comfortable seeing on a business card (white background, small color palette).
The company name is Detroit Solutions Group. We have 4 other companies bearing similar names, so if we like this design, you will get first pick on the other 4 companies, Detroit Networks, Detroit Colo, Detroit Dedicated and Detroit ISG.
Thanks,
Brandon
Hi Brandon,
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to design your logo here.
Would you mind telling us a little more about the company we are designing the logo for?
What type of style are you after?
Any certain colours you would prefer used and even not used? Does the company already have colours being used on stationery?
Thanks
Juvanescence

Do you ever "acronymize" your company name, such as 'DSG' ??
Also, Detroit is obviously known for it's role in the American automotive business. Would an automotive theme be appropriate?

Detroit Solutions Group is an IT consulting firm, I am sure you can guess where. I am totally torn between whether I would like to see something very simple and corporate looking, or something playful. My personal tastes lean more towards very clean, simple, and a small color palette. Maybe some vector art of sorts. Like a silouette (sp?) of the Detroit skyline. Something to that effect. So far I really liked the j-design's design.
Keep up the good work guys. I look forward to seeing some more submissions.

The font is attractive and clean. I can't see those circles printing on business cards and paper all that well.

What about my 2 questions, haxorboi? (well, I now know the answer to #2)

Beetle,
I am not opposed to seeing some designs with and without automotive themes. As for DSG, yes on occasion, we are called DSG. Thanks!

That might actually be too simple. Great concept though.

Attempt #1.
As always, colors and fonts may be changed if they don't feel right.

Here's a solution with the skyline as you suggested:

That is definatley a nice one. I am thinking different font / color for group... and maybe widen the image.

Well, this logo is made to be separable. So, you could use just the DSG or the DSG+skyline or whatever.

Really really really like the 2nd one! Any ideas how to make the squiggle thing look more like a D?

Can the gradient be a gray instead of blue?

Certainly, it can be any color you like. I'll post the change when I get home.

I really like where this is going j-design. If I go with you, do you have a problem playing with colors with me? I think I am interested in seeing the etroit part black... and the small squiggle made red, or black... also... I like the idea of maybe putting the city skyline on top of the etroit... might be tacky... but I really like your thought pattern

Did you make a deadline? If you have, wait til the deadline in case there are any more entries then declare your winner. I'll pay them the prize money and the two of you will work out the rest of the details as far as the transfer of the files.
Hello!

I would like to get this wrapped up in the next 24-48 hours. I have a few potential winners in mind. I need to know if you can provide the following if I choose you:
1) The logo at 300 dpi in a psd file.
2) Create a web template (for an extra fee of course).
3) Are available for future contests.
Thanks!

I think if you could post who you have it narrowed down to, they would be able to answer your questions instead of having every single person who entered answer. Just a thought :)

It is a toss up between wwwzone, QSDA, and huhso
Hi.
1). Yes.
Actually the first 2 and the last one are "vector" which means they can be resized to whatever size you wish. (Third one can be redone in vector too! no biggie. Currently it's 300dpi PSD)
2). Definately!
3). Yes.
1) The logo at 300 dpi in a psd file.
Yes. (I have used Macromedia Fireworks MX (vector tools only) and can be exported easily in PSD format at ANY resolution.)
2) Create a web template (for an extra fee of course).
Yes.
3) Are available for future contests.
Yes.
