We are looking for a logo that will help rejuvinate and upgrade the look of our children's church (1st - 5th grade) logo.
The name of our children's church is "Kids On Track" and our theme is "Racing for Jesus". We are not using Nascar or racing images (we are trying to get away from that and get a new angle). We have a clip art of what we would like at the following web site:
www.kurtzdesignstudio.com
(Once you enter the site, click on `logos`. The logo is worded, 'TEAM 56'.) This is the type of logo we are looking for (we want our name, "Kids On Track", included with our final logo - - NOT words 'team 56' in sample on that website).
The logo would go on everything including our children's church letterhead, PowerPoint presentations (possibly an animated version), banners, t-shirts, wall mural, pencils, etc. It needs to look good in black and white as well as in color.
The prize is $120.00. I need to have the entries in my hand no later than Jan. 15, 2004, to review with our pastors. B)
Thank you in advance for your creativity on this project.
For the Children we are,
Pastor Allen & Anita Luckie

I'm a track-and-field-loving Christian!! I have to enter this contest!! :)
Even though my illustrational skills aren't the greatest, I should be able to work something.

I couldn't resist putting down my ideas! As I previously said, illustration isn't exactly my strongest point, so I haven't included any caricatures of children or anything. But please advise me on what I have done thus far.
Cheers,
Jon

Thanks for the reply . . . yes, we are looking to hopefully add kids to the logo. Also, if it helps in picking the actual kids, we have a multicultural church (Asian, Hispanic, African American, White, and many other nationalities not coming to mind at this moment) and pictures need not be only white or African American kids. Also keep in mind our logo should not have "Team 56" or "Boys Ministry" on it as seen in the example posted earlier. That logo had NOTHING to do with our church and was merely an example of our vision for a logo. Thanks again! We look forward to seeing your changes. Keep up the great work!!

Thanks for everyone's input. After spending some time looking at our Children's classroom, we have decided we DO need to stick with our "Racing Theme" (checkerboard flags, etc.) for now. So, if you would, PLEASE refer to the LOGO that was posted on the Dec. 5, 2003. Thanks again and we look forward to ALL the GREAT & OUTSTANDING ideas you all are presenting.
VISUAL SENSE (Diane): I liked the first picture you submitted (on 12-5-03) better that the rest so far, with a few adjustments B) . . . (1) Please replace the kids in picture #1 with the kids from your last picture, picture #4, posted on 12-14-03. (2) Please replace yellow flags with checkerboard flags. (3) Last, but definitely not least, we didn't see a Bible in the logo anywhere. You have some awesome work there! Look forward to your update!! :D
GOODHAUS GRAPHICS (Doug): Very nice . . . the shadow effect is better than I thought something like that would be. The "racing for Jesus" probably won't work with a 'script' font . . . maybe make it the same at the words "finish"? . . . just a thought. Maybe even shadow effect might look good. Somewhere can a Bible be fitted in? Also, do you have a selection of more multicultural kids? ;) I'm looking forward to your update. Thanks for your hard work. :D
PIECE OF MIND (Amanda): The colors are nice and the kids are really cute, but we are looking more for a 'logo' type design instead of a ribbon/badge type picture. ;) If possible the kids need to be more multicultural, too. :)
We'll check back in later to see what's transpired. Please remember to keep in mind about the contest date being moved UP/changed since we started (January 15, 2004). Thanks again! You all are awesome!!

VisualSense (Diane): Wow, that was quick! Yes, that looks better now . . . :D Is there any way you could try to see what a hand tool or two would look like? Also, just to see, could you take off the blue wings and maybe put an oblong circle (stretching top to bottom) around the logo itself (even if parts of the logo hang off the edge a little in some places, that would be fine)? Just a thought. You are doing a GREAT job . . . :) Thanks for your hard work.

Glad you like the logo! Here are the changes you requested. I added some tools down there on the bottom, there were no hands left to put them in! :)
Also, there are two versions, in one I added some additional clothing (sunglasses, hat, etc) for you to view.
Thanks

VisualSense (Diane): Looking better all the time! More ideas . . . (1) Can we have the wings back (Blue)? We didn't know what we had until it was gone! I guess you can drop the oval completely . . sorry. :) (2) Can the "Kids On Track" letters be done with a red/white blend (red like the color in the Bible you have in the picture)? The pictures above seemed to have a color that was orange-red . . . just a thought. The additions you made with the tools was so cute! I also like the additional clothing items!! Great idea! I hope we're not being too picky. Look forward to update. :D Awesome work!

No problem at all.... be as picky as you like :D
I figure at the end you should have a logo that is perfect for you! So I don't mind at all if you'd like to see different things tried out : )
Here's the logo with the blue wings... and I did a couple different colors on the text, one with a bright red & white and the other with the same red just fading into a yellow hue. Added yellow to the "Racing for Jesus" text also, just as an alternative for you to see.
