Right then, il tell you the predicament that I am in.
I signed up for paypal Sunday after winning $60 in these very forums, however as I have no credit/debit card of my own I used my girlfriends. Iv entered her number and everything seemed fine. However when I was sent the money through paypal, it said that I had to complete the submission, which meant going to the bank and seeing how much money paypal took out to sign me up.
When I went to the bank however no money had been withdrawn, meaning that I cant complete the paypal registration.
What should I do? Another question is, do you really have to put all your bank details online in order to withdraw the money earnt through paypal. I thought the whole point of putting the credit card details up was so that they could send the money straight through.
Am I just stupid?

What they did was deposit 2 very small amounts of money in your checking account. You probably received an email prompting you to "verify" your account. You need to click on that link and put in the exact amount of money they deposited in your account so they know the account is valid.
After you verify your account you can get and prize money direct deposited into your checking account for free. Otherwise they charge you around $2 to send it in the mail and it takes a few weeks to get.
Have your girlfriend call her bank and see what amount of money PayPal deposited. Usually it's something like 6 cents and 40 cents or something like that. You'll need to enter those amounts in the two little boxes at PayPal.

We went into the bank today, and no money has been deposited or withdrawn. Maybe I should wait a few more days?

If you just signed up sunday you'll need to wait a day or two more. They'll be there :D

Sssshhh......she might be listening. <_<
When I signed up for PayPal, they charged me $2.95 or so on my Credit Card, and I used the number on my CC statement to confirm my account. The site said I would get a refund for it when I send my first batch of money, and I did.
They don't deposit anything.

Au contrere mon frere, I think that depends on the type of account you set up, because they deposited $.50 and $1.51 into my account as verification deposits. I went back to the website and entered those amounts, verifying that I had access to the account, otherwise, I would not have known the amout of the two deposits.

If you have a checking account they do direct deposit for free.

I can confirm the CC thing naramation speaks of. I was going to add/change credit card info on my account, and they were going to charge $2.95 for me to do that, which would be refunded to me after I had received my credit card statement which would include some 4-digit code on it that I'd enter on the Paypal site. Too much hassle; I decided to forget it.
This is dif't than the checking account, where they deposit pennies into your account to verify the account.
I'm not sure if they do the CC thing on any new account now. If they do, it'll be awhile before you can be all set up. But don't call the CC co to ask for the number - if you do, Paypal may freeze everything on you, for fear you are an imposter, trying to get access to that CC.

I also had to use the CC verification member.
I have online banking, so I was verified within 2 days B)

CC statements updated within minutes??
Mine takes 3-4 days to update :(
j-design,
So is your Girlfriends name on the paypal account. Because this one time I tried to deposit funds into someone elses bank account, and because of the name difference (paypal acc name didn't match bank acc) It didn't let it go through and slugged me a big fee.
It only lets me send fund to my bank account, no one elses.
Check it out,

Now im really concerned. My name is on the paypal account, it just said to put a card number to activate the account.
I didnt want to have to put my bank details online as well. Is there any other way to get the cash sent to me, seeing as im from the UK?
If your name is on the account, that should be ok, but you can only send funds to a bank account in your name.
I think it is ok to use another persons card to verify your account,
Just give it some time, my initial verification was a while too.

And there's always the option of having them send a check. Don't worry, it's your money it's not like they can take it away from you or anything. I think that's called stealing :)

You used a credit card right? It should be on the statement that she received in the mail. Here's more info...

There has been no movement of funds either way on the statement.
Of course, if you read the fine print, the only other way to get funds out is to have you account closed. Then they (claim to) mail you a cheque.

Ok I also have a question about Paypal. I dont have a credit card, but I transfered some money to my savings account. It says completed in the paypal status, but it still isnt in my bank account. How long does this usually take? or is it instant?
Palmer

I'm not sure, it should show up on your bank statement. You should check out PayPals help section (http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_help-ext&source_page=) to see if there's something that says how long it takes. I had a check mailed to me and it took about a week. That's how I got my funds before I was verified.

Or have them mail you a check.
Actually the best solution is to call a few banks, shop around for the best deals, and open a checking or account. One bank in our area lets you open a free checking account then charges you for each check you write. If you never write a check, you never get charged a fee.

Iv looked for the option to send me a cheque, but I dont know if this option is available as I am from the UK. In fact I couldnt even find an option to send a cheque to the US.
I must be stupid......
Palmer

Maybe you can't have them send you one in the UK. Just get a checking account. It's the best solution. That way they can direct deposit the funds in to your checking account.

Well I just got confirmation that you accepted the payment. What's up with that? Did you get verified?
