 I just had so much fun with this process last time that I could not wait to do it again.
Now that I have a great overall logo for our Youth Ministry and for our upcoming event "One Way Weekend" (see me past contest), I need a logo that captures our Wednesday Night Youth Program.
We meet every Wednesday Night for Youth Worship at our church. We have changed our overall them to an idea of being on a Journey. Since our Wednesday night worship time is kinda the front door to our ministry we are going to call it "Base Camp", as in the starting point for the adventure.
I need a simple, catchy logo that will be used in newsletters and promo pieces. However we will also be using this logo as part of our backdrop for the stage area. I was thinking of decorating the room with an outdoor, camping, mountains, canyon, nature, sort-of-theme. I know this is kinda vague, but I am also not that creative.
Feel free to play with the ideas; however it must have the word "Base Camp" in there. It doesn't need the church name of student ministry in the design because it will be used in conjunction with those titles, or already be displayed at the church.
I need the design to be in vector or EPS and I use Adobe Illustrator on my end.
I will be checking this post often because I need to make a decision pretty soon on the design. Please email or post any question.
Thanks for using your creativity and talents!!! You are awesome.

Mowling thanks for the quick responce.
The logo is going to be turned into a sign that will be cut out of styrofoam. I would like to keep the font the same for the entire word. I like the concept of the tent but am not sure how that would look for the sign.
The side by side layout I think works better than the stacked. Thanks for getting the ball rolling!

I am not crazy about the colors but the idea has potential.

Craig,
I used a more handwritten type font in this logo. I know what it is like cutting foam and trying to get sharp, crisp & precise by hand. I thought that it would be easier on you since your going to make the foam signage by hand. If you would rather use a different font or steer clear of this look just let me know.
thanks,
Matt

Matt -
I like the design especially with the font suggestions. I like the campfire but am wondering how hard it will be do place on the type sign I am using?
Thnaks for all your input and designs.
Anything else out there before we have to make a decision? Even if it is in a direction we have not thought of????

sorry I have not been on top of this thread. We are having our DiscipleNow this weekend and I seem to be running in every direction.
Anyway...
Matt - I like both concepts. The ring marks around the second design are cool and the font is great, but while I like the campfire I think it solidifies the design to much to being a campfire theme. The first design is cool to but I this the tent is too complicated for signage and use.
Joshue - I like the way the words bleed into each other. The flame used in the design reminds me of another denomination and I do not won't to confuse people.
I guess the more I look at it and think about it and see some of the other contest on the board, I really think we need a logo or design the capitalizes on the words Base Camp. Either to seperate words or all together is fine. Maybe a two tone layout or element added in. I hope this helps and is not just a bunch of rambling form me.
Again sorry for the lack of feedback so far. I hope to get back on top of things better.
Thank you for your work and creativity!

I was hoping this would be a quick contest since I am really just looking fo a simple design. I will need to do something with this contest in the next week or so. However, I don't see a real winner. The couple of designs submitted are not quite what I am looking for.
Thanks Craig

It has been weeks and no one seems interested in this design...
Palmer - How do I cancel a contest? Our youth ministry really does not need to spend to money and let this drag on forever.
Please let me know something soon.

There are none that appeal to you that have been submitted or is there something close that just needs tweaked? Be honest.
According to the FAQ if there are 3 entries there is not a refund but on the other hand I agree, they really have ignored this one. I would give you a refund if there is no hope for any of the entries.
Let me know
Hello
You'll be my first design post. Hope you like like it. Please let me know how I can help.

OOPS! Let me try that logo art again

Palmer –
I think my problem is I am having a hard time communicating what I am looking for in this design. I have cut and pasted from my previous post to try and give a better idea:
“We meet every Wednesday Night for Youth Worship at our church. We have changed our overall them to an idea of being on a Journey. Since our Wednesday night worship time is kinda the front door to our ministry we are going to call it "Base Camp", as in the starting point for the adventure.
I guess the more I look at it and think about it and see some of the other contest on the board, I really think we need a logo or design that capitalizes on the words Base Camp. I need the design to be in vector or EPS and I use Adobe Illustrator on my end.”
I have gotten a few suggestion. I just don’t think we are going in the right direction. I did need this done several weeks ago and dragging it out is holding up some other projects. I got such good response from our last few contest, that I was hoping for a great experience this time. I will leave the contest running until February 9th. Then I will have to make some kind of decision. I will check back frequently this week for suggestions to submitted designs. If there is any.
Bottom Line: I am looking for something simple. I like some of the simpler designs for “Plugged in Camp” or “Eclipse Student Ministry” or “get real student ministries” for examples. If you have any question please ask me I will try to be as helpful as possible.

Mark - The idea is neat, but not really the direction I am going in. I want the title to be the focal point of the design. I feel the design focuses on the climber and not the title.
Does that help?

Well I understand your frustration but I'm in a difficult situation as that the designers have put in some of their time on this and someone should be "rewarded" with the prize money, even though it is a small amount there is also another issue regarding the Apprentice team that I would rather not publicly discuss.
My recommendation would be to post examples of the logos you like and then I will alert the rest of the team and see if they can help your cause. I don't know if they will be able to help with their current workload and what is being offered for this project but I can always ask.
I'll be happy to add $20 to the prize money if you think that would help.

Hi Craig
Something simple and iconic...<img src='http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~eeqip/smil3y/eaglethumb.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
Hi Craig
Here's another go at it. This is very simple and very bold. I kept the climber as a symbol of reaching for the lord. This design can be modified in many ways...mountain tops can be added to the word base, or in the background. Colors can be added & so on. Hope this helps.
In Christ

Eagle - This is definatly where I want to be headed. Simple, not to busy, yet attention grabbing. The only thing I would like to see diferently is a with out the drop shadow. It looks good in print but tends to cause problems with embroidry. What would it look like in Black and white or greyscale?
MOZ - I think the climber guy is cool but just to detailed for our application. But bold is where we want to go.
Thanks

Hi Craig
The drop shadow is just presentational - for effect. Here it is in greyscale and B&W too. <img src='http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~eeqip/smil3y/eaglesmile.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

Well...I created it with you cutting it out by hand in foam in mind. Is that still what you plan to do? I will make any revision you like...is there something in particular that you would like to see changed?
thanks,

Mowling - The sign is still on of the applications for this log. I guess I dont like the fire for the "a" in camp, but to just male that change seems like something is missing. I dont know??? It is something I cant really put my finger on...

Brian - I like the design without the flag. Mainly for the difference in the font. Any differnt color scheme that you think would work well?
It is definatley down to Brian and Eagle. I will post a winner later today.
Thank you all for helping me finish this one up. It seems like it has been a long process.

Palmer - I do appreciate your efforts. The design is a good concept!
Brian - Thanks so much for the revisions
Soory I did not reply last night like promised, but we had a fundraiser selling gourmet apples and spent most of yesterday making 360 apples!
After having some other folks look at the designs we have chosen Eagle as the winner. Most people liked the clean design with the cold title.
I know many of you have put alot of time and effort out there and we want to thankall of you for using your creativity and assisting us and other ministries with top notch designs and logos.
Thank you Palmer for helping us make it through this one!
