Hey everyone.

I ran a contest on DO for the template for CounterCode.com (http://www.countercode.com) and was very pleased with the results, so I thought I would see if a couple of people could help me out with creating some new counter sets

These counter sets are distributed with the CounterCode product to allow the users to select what style counter they want. A counter set consists of five images which are largely the same, a variation on a theme, or with a different colour scheme. An example set can be seen here: 1 (http://www.countercode.com/demo/images/1.png), 2 (http://www.countercode.com/demo/images/2.png), 3 (http://www.countercode.com/demo/images/3.png), 4 (http://www.countercode.com/demo/images/4.png). And the fifth image is a small icon, with no space for the number of hits to be displayed (a 'stealth mode' counter) there is an example of that here (http://www.blogpatrol.com/images/5.gif). The numbers that will be shown on the counter will be the same size as in this example (http://www.countercode.com/demo/imagetest.php?filename=3&locx=10&locy=6&is_stealth=0)

So what I am after is 3 different counter sets, of 5 images each. I'm leaving this competition wide open to let you guys come up with any ideas you think would be good. But keep in mind that the counter sets should be generic so that they can be used without any modification by our customers. And it would be great (although optional) if each set could include 1 'stealth mode' counter image, that doesn't have a spot for the number of hits.

I will be selecting 3 different counter sets, and will award $15 for each set. So there are potentially three different winners -- but feel free to enter with more than one counter set. This contest will run for two weeks, ending on Feb 8th.

If there are any questions or any clarification is required, just ask!

Cheers

Ethan

are there any specifications for the counters?? like pixel width and height for the area where the number appears?

Hi Annia,

I'm leaving as much up to you as possible in this competition... the counters can be any size (although you can see the size of the other counters we have), the number of hits can appear anywhere on the counter, but the size of that text is fixed.

I hope that makes it clear. Let me know if you have any further questions. :)

So, response to this contest has been rather quiet... so is anybody in the process of working up a graphic for this? Or would you like some more specifics about what I'm after to give you a bit more direction?

Thanks Martin, the set looks great :) The only thing I'd be interested in seeing changed is the white diagonal 'bar' in the first image. Could you try 'softening' it a bit, and making it a bit more grey or red-y? I just find the white contrasts a bit much against the red.

Thanks again for being the first entry

Hi Ethan glad you liked them, I have changed the first button image.

Martin.

Thanks Martin. The updated image looks great, a lot 'smoother', in my opinion.

If you're interested in submitting another set, I would be interested in seeing a set of all 'stealth mode' counters (like the 5th image in your set) in different colours/styles.

Thanks again for your submission and your quick update :)

Thanks for your entries Martin. I really like the two 'regular' counter sets you posted and am happy to award you $15 for each set. I would ask, thought, that the first 'stealth' counter (the red graph one) be included as the 5th stealth image as part of the second set -- so there are two complete sets of 5 images each. I would appreciate it if you could provide me with the images in PNG format (optimised as you see fit).

With Palmer's permission (http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/?showtopic=2603&st=0&), I am going to extend the contest for the final prize.

Martin, you are free to submit more entries and I would be happy to work with you on making some changes to the stealth set you submitted.

Once Palmer has got back to me, I will post the extension date.

OK. There is still one more prize for another counter set up for grabs -- the contest for this last prize will close in two weeks, ending 23rd Feb.

Martin -- if you are interested in making some changes to your stealth counter set, let me know and I will provide some feedback :)

Martin,

Thanks for your quick response.. I really appreciate your participation here

I have some feedback in regards to the two counter sets:

Stealth Counter Set
- First off, I'd like to see something in a different size a little bigger -- that might give you a little more 'room to move' design-wise. Square is fine, but if you're interested in playing around with a more rectangle design, I'd be interested in seeing the results.
- I like the red counter from your first stealth counter set in that it is clearly a stats image. The same for the green one. If you could try and work in the 'stats' motif for the other images, that would be great.

New Counter Set
- I would like to see a new colour scheme for this one. While I really like the colours of the others, I'm after a bit of variety, so that we will have something for everyone.
- I really like the orange image, again using the graph/stats imagery. I'd like to see if you could try and integrate that into the other images.

Oh, and when you are sending through the counter images, can you please do me a favour and change the red 'stealth' image so it doesn't have the shiny white part up the top? I think it would fit in with the other images better without.

As always, if you need any further direction or have any questions, just ask :).

Thanks,

Ethan

Congratulations Martin (1on1), you are the winner of the third counter set prize.

I would appreciate it if you could send the files over as per the previous set.

Thanks for your assistance :)
