$25 simple logo contest for new ministry in our church

We have begun a new ministry in our church called "R.A.K." It stands for Random Acts of Kindness. We will be doing all sorts of community projects to meet needs of our community. For example - we provide free oil changes once a month for single moms. While they wait for there oil change, we have a loung with tea and cookies and reading materials and some folks hanging out just in case they need someone to talk to. Also, we detail there car as well b/c the last thing a single mom has time to do is wash her car. We are planning to do all sorts of things like this in our community just to say "hey, we care!" We need a logo for our website and printed materials. Thanks for your help and great work in advance.

For more info, please visit our website and connect to the RAK link. Also, see our contest for a web template in the template forum.

Hey Taldo - nice to see you again. You practically moved in our backyard! Nice look. I'll show it to the folks who are over that ministry and see if I can't get you some feedback.

Brian - sorry for not giving you feedback. Your design just doesn't look, how do you say it, professional enough. The hand and heart look like clip art - I thank you for your try but it needs to be a logo that looks all in one and easily recognizable. Thanks.

Logo, Button, Sticker

All good things in this sort of organisation.

Beth- Ooh, Wow, I like the softer approach. Nice. I can't really give anyone good feedback right now b/c the woman in charge of this area has been out. I'll share all with her on Monday and get some real feedback to you all. Thanks.

coxy - like it but probably a little too edgy for this one. needs to be softer feel since RAK are projects of kindness.

cursal - this one is too busy and large.

I think we are looking for more like an icon than a logo. We are just trying to put something by it so it will be recognixed when seen as "there's a RAK event I'll go participate in" kind of thing.

thanks for all your efforts. nothing really jumping out at us leaning us in any direction. the blue circles by Taldo may be the closest to something if that helps.

Here is another idea. Please let me know what you think.

Jason

Thanks again.

Carol - this maybe a stretch, but how about utliizing the cross from our logo in the Random Ac"t"s of kindness. Though the letters RAK are important as well b/c we'll refer to it as "the RAK ministry"

Carol - don't think the heart will show up well in print or web aps.

Jason - thanks, it does look like an icon, I'll give you that. but like above, it should probably include RAK instead of all spelled out. If all the words fit that's great too, but it's the RAK ministry - hope this helps.

Colors should probably not be red/black either - those are the colors of one of our other ministries. Can anyone give me feedback on a design standpoint as to wether our several logos should all incorportate the same color schemes or be different. I know of one church that actually requires each area to use the same colors for consistency - any thoughts?

Thanks
David

I like the idea of keeping everything the same colors, but that's just one opinion. I'll see what I can do with the colors and adding RAK.

I wasn't sure if by...it does look like an icon, I'll give you that you meant you did or didn't like it. Here it is in different colors with RAK.

I'm sure one of use will come up with something soon :flowers:

Also is there a "system metaphor" to this ministry like the CG ?
That might throw things into a new direction.

Thank you,

Good question Brian,
Also is there a "system metaphor" to this ministry like the CG ?
That might throw things into a new direction.
Answer: No. It's something new we have starting initiating through our CG's but it's not part of any process. It's just the natural result of life transformation - you've been helped so you want to help others. It's a way of showing people that God cares and the church isn't always only interested in your money - so many people are "turned off" from church, we are trying to turn them back on! I do appreciate everyone's efforts here. Please, also know that I'm showing these to someone else to proof as well and that has potential to bog things down - if it was up to me I'd have already picked one.

blackspot - personally I like it, but it doesn't have the type of look we need - my quote you referred to was basically saying you did what we asked but the look isn't grabbing us as something that says "act of kindness" - it reminds me of a logo from a music CD called "let the river flow" - guilty by association.

Bethie - thanks, but that look isn't it - no tweeks, just don't like it much. Sorry

Carol - I would still like to see something which incorporates our cross from the original NCC logo - to be fair to others, could you post the cross in the thread so all can see and use (though it's not essential for others to use, just a thought).

Another thought. Offering your heart would be an act of kindness...
(I kind of like it in one color but I can add as many colors as you want, if you like it.)

I would like to see the logo with the cross. It may inspire something.

Dave,

Here's my entry. I hope it's recognizeable, but if not.....

I started with a simplistic figure with embracing arms. (Try to see the yellow graphic by itself.) Then, I duplicated them and made them so they appear to be formed together in a ring of sorts representing unity, community, and teamwork.
The figure looked good by itself, but I think this treatment represents the ministry better. Thoughts?

And the colors can be changed if you'd like.

Personally, I think it's best to have different colors for your different ministries. When they're grouped together, say on your web page, it's would be easier to tell them apart.

Looking forward to your comments and suggestions.

In Christ Alone,

-Stephen

Steve,
Nice look again, but not for this particular need. The linking arms thing reminds me more of the purpose of our C-groups logo, but it's not as good as your green diamonds and swoosh for that need that only needs some more revisions. - please check that thread for those changes needed.

Taldo,
the blue circle one might look good with the circle being an abstract type heart and our swoosh cross going through the middle of it to reflect "the heart of Christ" wording from our mission statement.

As far as everything else goes nothing strikes us as a possibility of working here. Thank you for trying.

Sincerely,
David

Dave,
Okay, here's another shot at it.

I used one of the elements from my last design and tried to show the individual
loving on the community with the community being represented by by blue figures.

Looking forward to your comments and suggestions.

Thanks.

Thanks Carol. You win.

The bottom one with our swoosh cross will work. I'll need to make some revisions - too many hearts and the text makes the whole logo to large. we need to try to re-arrange the text and maybe just one heart off center and have the cross through it sort of like you have it.

We can move this to revisions and work on it once or twice and I think it can work. Sorry for the delay - I took a much needed vacation and then our server was down.

Congrats! Again.

that's it, wow you're good! I like it - I like the block font on RAK, but can you find a font the might be slightly softer in feel - more rounded ever so slightly. Also, I like the heart exactly the way it is. Can you play with the colors and make the 'random acts of kindness' red or cross red and text 'random acts of kindness' yellow'? I like the cross and the RAK in blue.

Great Job!

makinprogress412
03-12-2004, 06:46 AM
That's good. could you try a darker red instead of the bright purple for the third color. also, would like to see it with just two colors - so the spelled out "random acts of kindness" just yellow.
Thanks

Carol - on second thought - could you go back to the first block font and just have the text below in yellow like the heart and cross and RAK in blue - that will work.
Thanks,
Dave

Carol,
You are right. I should have trusted your first one. The first block letter with blue RAK and dark GRAY words. That looks good. Please send me an .ai file if you can along with a .bmp for the web.
